Phat & Juicy Burgers

Better than fast food, but just average compared to some of the great burger places nearby (like the Serving Spoon across the street.) The hamburgers are hand-​made and pretty decent; the service is friendly, and the fries were soggy and nearly inedible. Meh…

I talked to someone the other day after my last post and they informed me that the staff is all NEW. So I decided to give them another try since I always loved their food.
Their customer service has done a complete 180. My prior post about their customer service does NOT apply. Their have improved their customer service experience. I am back to being a regular customer. I think I am going to call my self the Prodigal Customer.
As always their food is second to none.

I order from here all the time & have for years. I have never had a negative experience. The food is always prepared as I order so it comes out fresh & hot. The staff are very courteous & even remember what my likes & dislikes are from coming in over the years. My favorite day is on Thursday when they have $ 1 tacos including turkey tacos. I definitely recommend eating here:

First time eating here so I ordered a king burger with cheese and bacon and a order of fries… The burger was good, but they gave very little bacon and it was all crumbled up into little bitty pieces in the middle of the burger… The fries were fresh but they were all burned… Probably because they were all to busy in there talking about unrelated work things super unprofessional… I wasn’t really satisfied with my food so I definitely won’t be returning back here…

Cold tacos smmfh really. My friend and I ordered back to back yet my order came first, after several customers ordered after us he got his. Really it was hot as hell in this little shimmy shack. $ 1 dollar tacos aren’t worth the wait or time for 5 bucks I can deal without.

I normally don’t write reviews and I’ve been here two times prior to today. However, the customer service today HORRIBLE.
So, I go in and order a meal. The cashier admitted she was new and learning how to work everything. I was cool with that. The other cashier that is normally working medium height/​medium built, fair skin, and curly hair, wish I knew her name. Anywho, she comes in to show the new cashier how to accept a cash payment. I had $ 100 bill. They did not have change. Understandable, many restaurants don’t accept bills over $ 20. Left the restaurant to get change and when I returned I added two additional meals. I then tell her I wanted to add bacon to the first order but can they all be fresh. She specifically told me that she could only make the last two meals fresh. What??? I was already a little skeptical because the cook was outside smoking a cigarette and just walked in the kitchen and put the two patty’s on the grill. Wtf!!! So, I tell the cashier I want my money back and I’m good. She tells me she don’t have time to keep switching up orders and she can’t give me my money back. Ummmm excuse me. So, she gives me my money back and tell me she wouldn’t be upset if I never returned. I politely asked her to give me my money and let her know I will respect her wishes :-) horrible customer service and very unsanitary. So sad because I really like supporting black owned businesses but we get too comfortable and unprofessional. SAD.

First off… I did a no no! I didn’t check Unilocal before I ordered from here!
… So.,… This will be a good review. And I had no prior knowledge of their complaints.
I called at 8:30 and the. The cashier did NOT put me on hold! She was pleasant and nice and informative! If I had her name I would list it.
My fiancé picked up the order. he said there was no line and they were nice and curteous! But they didn’t have a printed menu. GET ONE!! M
I order the turkey burger with chili and cheese and he order a double turkey burger with fries. He ate all of it in ten minutes. Lol I enjoyed my burger. it was cooked thoroughly and the chili was meaty!
I don’t have anything negative to say for now! First timers luck maybe? Well I’ll say I’ll return here before I return to fresh and meaty! They are rude, expensive and frankly not worth the drive for me. Yes I will admit the burgers here are not as seasoned as other places but. It wasn’t enough to change my like for it. I didn’t miss the un-​seasoned-​ness. (I made that word up) but it taste like a burger I would make at home ! .I gotta be real with my review and so far,. So good for me.

Went in on Father’s Day. There was one person waiting in line. I ordered 10 turkey tacos and a large at 1:55. At 2:30 I had to ask what was taking so long since the place is empty. The cashier said they were waiting on my fries. Seven minutes later I get my food. (#1) Paid for a large fry, I got a small salty fry. (#2) At least 3 of the tacos were dripping wet with cooking oil. (#3) Why did it take 30 min to make 10 tacos and the place was empty. (#4) Called the complaint line… the mailbox was full. (#5) Cashier didn’t even apologize for the delay/​wait. (#6) I’ll never go back. Never-​eva-​eva!!!

I have only been to Phat burger once and it was an excellent experience. People need to get over themselves. We’re in the ghetto people and they expect Beverly Hills service and manners here. While all businesses should be good at customer service, I believe they do a good job. The place itself isn’t very nice to look at but the food is awesome and very affordable. Don’t judge a book for its cover right? The girl and chef were amazing with me when I was there so compliments to the owner for having such an amazing staff.

This review is for the new location in Canyon Country. Corner of Soledad Cyn. and Sierra Hwy. Just opened a couple of days ago, and this is already my second time there! Very excited about this place! Just like that, this is hands down the best boiga in SCV!!! Great chili. Nothing else like it because for the most part in this town it’s just the same-​old same-​old generic fast food places. Gotta have 25 Subways here, hardly anything original. The ones that are do pretty well here! That’s why this scored so easily! Giant, tasty, almost home-​made-​but-​better! You’re gonna make a mess if you’re not careful while eating it that’s for sure! Couple of issues, though at this point. Parking sucks in that area there. Never was a problem before only because the businesses that were there weren’t that great and never drew a crowd. Also, the service is really slow. Hopefully, after time, they’ll speed things up. Thing is, it’s worth the wait! I figure after awhile they’ll move to a larger spot because at this rate they’ll have to! And when the secret gets out, it’s gonna get nuts I’m telling you! Call ahead and order like I did today and cut your wait. Few people gave me the stink-​eye when I paid and collected my food quickly while they had been waiting a long time before me. Had to smile at ‘em as I left! Heh-​heh! Got mine! Can’t wait to try some other iems on the menu! Looks like I’m gonna be a regular here fo sho! Num-​num!!! Probably be back tomorrow! :)

I have been here before over the years food is always great, but today has left a bad taste in my mouth and I will not be returning. As my family and I approached the restaurant the cashier and a cook were outside arguing and we overheard the cashier say, «So what am I supposed to tell these customers?» My mother asked if everything was okay and the cashier said yes. We began ordering our food and wanted a chicken burrito was told she would not know how to charge us for it since it wasnt on the menu, we ordered our food and paid for it. Was overcharged for something. Then was refunded additional money for a shake because they were out of ice cream mind you it was only 1pm. I ordered separately from my mom and most of the fountain drinks were not available so she said I can just get a can soda if I wanted. We left for home. When we checked our food we were highly disappointed. No cheese was on a burger that had been charged for cheese, there was barely no ground beef in the tacos, my chilli burger had a drop of chilli on it, and I was charged an extra dollar for the can soda even though I had already made my burger a combo. We called the store to be told the cashier only charges us and hands us the food she doesnt look at it the cooks do and if we want to complain to call a number. She gave us the number. We called, a male answered the phone unprofessionally, my mother asked was this a manager or the owner to phat and juicy and he said, «Yeah.» She went on to explain what had happend and his response was he was busy at his son’s basketball game. He was extremely unprofessional and when my mother got argumentative because of his remarks he got argumentative right back. The call ended with her hanging up because it was going no where. I used to love coming here but this service is ridiculous. A complaint line should not be a personal cell phone and when customers are complaining you should atleast act like you care and offer an I’m sorry. We didnt even want money back, food exchanged, just a y’all need to do better tip. Lost a customer here.

I ordered a turkey burger on wheat bun and sweet potato fries. It was very very delicious. I gave it 3 stars because of the look and size.

Burgers are really good, kinda stingy on the bacon. Fries are good. Choice of items on menu are good, parking is kinda small, but there is street parking

horrible service & not just once! rude cashiers, unprofessional and just not a food friendly environment. you talk to the owner but that doesn’t do anything because he likes to play amnesia like he don’t know what you are constantly complaining about. what’s the point in calling in a simple taco order if you still have to wait 20 minutes? i support black businesses but black business doesn’t support black customers! won’t return ever! gave the too many chances! wrong food, burnt food or cold food take your pick!

The burgers are AWESOME!!! However I could do withouth the people who work there. They are extremely RUDE!!!

This is a great burger spot. I’m picky with my burgers and I don’t eat them often, but if I’m going to do it, it better be as good as P.A.J. (Phat and Juicy). Not a healthy burger, it lives up to its name. But it is delicious. The price is reasonable. BUT DEFINITELY get some onion rings. This is not a place to hang out and sit and eat. You want to get your food and split. Don’t sleep on this Inglewood gem. In my opinion it’s almost as good as 5 Guys and very close to Fatburger.
Ooh. the Ambience. The people working there are always very nice. The people who hang out around there are cool too. But they may look a little tough. Everyone will treat you great. You may be able to purchase a bootleg CD or DVD by the gentleman in the parking lot. So you can get dinner and a movie all in one stop and for under $ 10.

The first time I came it was with my husband. We had small talk with the owner who is very nice.
I ordered a turkey burrito and it was okay. The milk shake was to die for. So creamy and delicious.
The second time I came was with my 3 boys ages 8,7 & 4. Service was terrible. It took 30 minutes for the food to be ready and when it came out it was okay. My son dropped his top bun and burger on the floor. When I told the lady working there she shrugged her shoulders as to say, «not my problem.»
We had to ask repeatedly for the lemonade we ordered and she left to the liquor store for 10 minutes before she came back and then I had to ask again to remind her.
There were no napkins and no one to ask to give us some since she left to the liquor store. We cleaned our hands on our shirts and finished quickly to get the heck out. There was no place to sit comfortably.
I will never come back with my kids and I can go to Tommy’s or in n out for a better burger.

I really liked this burger. It was big, tasty and had generous amount of fixings. I ordered the Jr. burger for my daughter and a regular burger for myself, but I couldn’t figure which one was the Jr! The fries were fresh and tasty as well. The place is REALLY small, so not good for big groups. There are two old school video arcade machines to play with and a flat screen TV to watch as you wait for your burger to be freshly made. Was it the best burger I ever had… no, but it was pretty damn good. Will return to this place when I’m in the area.

I give it 4 stars.
The burgers are always great for us.
However, the cashier isn’t the friendliest and the service is REALLY slow.
But… The burgers and fries make up for it.
They do, however, need to take onion rings off of their menu because they never have any — EVER.
But again, awesome burgers!

On my second try of this now very local burger, disappointment was the key ingredient.
The king burger seemed to have ballooned in size and deflated in juiciness since we met. My wife did note that the owner working was super nice to her and threw in some free cake. But the burger just wasn’t up to snuff.
Dry meat and too tightly packed made the oversized patty a chore to eat. They confused our order and put my cheese on my wife’s burger, which didn’t help the moisture of my beef. The free cake was pretty good though.
I might give them one more shot since they’re almost walking distance from my house. But for now, down to two stars.
