Diho Bakery is good for picking up something small, like a pastry or a bag of meat buns. Nice, kind of quiet space with nice workers. The melon bread is pretty good(flaky top, sweet inside). Meat buns to recommend: Red dot ones(I think they’re bbq pork) and the yellow&green dot ones(I think they’re pork?). Not sure if they still do a punch card, but try asking.

Why are people rating this place on their flan? Who gives a flying hoot about flan!!! Is this even the type of place to expect good flan? I dunno, but what I do know it’s all about the bao(steamed rice buns). I’ve been looking for a decent bao place for a good while. Although met with minimal success, but since moving to Irvine, I’ve found Diho. Alas, steamed bao that isn’t dried, frozen or too pricey. Also, they have a crap load of variety. I was pleasantly surprised with the mushroom bao that I was forced to get because they are often sold out of my go-to type. Their BBQ pork is excellent, but is one of the more popular flavors so you may wish to call to check their inventory or prepare a pick-up(they may make it for you.) If only… if only they had baked bao. There are a few modern places that have baked bao, but I like the traditional hole in the wall bakeries. I still can’t fault them, though. Their variety of steamed is just too amazeballs. My typical order is two six packs for my brother and I. It usually lasts about 2 days, maybe? I even considered living on these for a while. Are they terrible for you? Awww, who cares? Cheap delicious food trumps health every time, right? Added bonus: They accept credit cards with a ten dollar minimum soooo, get the two 6 packs for 16 bucks and enjoy.

Everything tasted so dry for some reason. A lady did tell me to go elsewhere but I didn’t listen to her. Once is enough for me.

Before we got off the 5 to go to BurnZilla across the street my wife already knew we had to go to Diho Bakery first. Otherwise they would be closed before we finished eating dinner. We were so lucky that they still had the BBQ Pork buns left. They are very good. Very nice sized and lots of filling. Definitely worth making the effort. The owner was very helpful and accommodating and from what we saw they must sell quite a number of buns on a daily basis. We also got the Pork & Veggie bun and it was also good. We didn’t get any of the gyoza this trip(our ice cooler was already full). But we’ll make it back soon to give them a try.

$ 13 for a bag of 50 handmade frozen dumplings! They also have frozen Taiwanese sausages and other goodies. I was in the mood for steamed dumplings for dinner and Unilocal suggested this place. I took my bag of dumplings home and put ¾ of the bag in my steamer and VOILA20 mins later dinner is served and as delicious and fresh as I imagined. I tried the pork with cabbage. They had 3 different kinds and I will be back to try the other 2!

Came in 30 minutes after they opened and they were still baking everything fresh but had some stuff ready. I bought a bag of frozen vegetarian mushroom/bamboo shoot steam buns(7 large buns per bag, $ 8 I think), frozen pork/chive dumplings(30/bag for $ 13 or $ 18, can’t remember), fresh BBQ pork baked buns(4/bag), and a fresh curry beef baked bun. The baos are so large, they are like Vietnamese bao sized. As we steamed some dumplings and buns, we munched on the baked buns. They tasted good, with a small/medium amount of pork filling. They were not too salty. Good flavor, not too strong. Could use a bit more punch but overall very good and nothing to say bad about. The bread was golden, light, fluffy, slightly sweet. Very good. They are also huge. Like the curry beef bun was the size of a small Vietnamese baguette. The pork/chive dumplings were absolutely delicious. You can tell the wrappers are handmade. They are thick but good, not too chewy or weak. The filling is generous with chive yet they do not dilute the pork. They steam up and release delicious delicious juices, almost like xiao long bao(soup dumpling). But I have to say that these are loads and miles better than that lie called Costa Mesa Din Tai Fung. Very good! The vegetarian steamed bun was surprisingly delicous. Filled with fake meat, mushroom, and bamboo shoot, it sounds weird, but it tasted so good. I felt a hearty umami flavor come out and the bamboo shoots provided a nice crunch and chew factor. The wheat bun itself was also the perfect texture, fluffy, a hint of sweet, soft. It was large as well, as said before. I really like this spread of items purchased from Diho Bakery. They have even more variety of steam buns, dumplings, fresh baked savory breads, cakes, melon bread, etc. This was quite a delicious and rewarding find and I am so glad to have found a little local place that provides such quality and tasty Taiwanese breads and dumplings.

Great little Taiwanese bakery! Went around 7pm on a Saturday night so they didn’t have much fresh baked things left, but so happy I found this place! Chatted with the lady owner, she & her husband are from Tainan(south of Taiwan) and have been running this place for 20+ years. Definitely going back to buy their frozen dumplings and steamed buns. Cheaper than other Asian bakeries and Taiwanese so automatically gets my vote! :)

Wish we had made it before they were sold out of the BBQ pork buns! Happened to be in the area and were going to hit up the local bakery for some BBQ pork Bao buns but they were sold out, looked this place up on Unilocal and got here just afternoon and she was all sold out! We asked if she had any more in the back and she did not, but told us everything else that hadn’t made it to the front cooler yet. Can’t wait to make it back to the area, we’ll come earlier in the day next time!

Good selection of Chinese pastries. It is located in a strip mall near the 5 freeway and Culver Blvd in Irvine. There are both meat and vegetarian pastries such as Bao. They also have cakes. Besides coming here at various times to get pastries, we come here yearly to get our kids their birthday cakes from this place. The food is freshly made and tasty. This is definitely on my list to come back when I can.

Great little Taiwanese bakery that is tucked in Irvine. They have great frozen xiao long baos(50 for $ 17), baos /buns, wontons, jello, and more. I got the small wontons which had about 30 of them for $ 6. It was a GREAT deal and they were super easy to cook! It tastes delicious, just like restaurant quality, you just gotta buy the right sauce to complement it. The jellies were good and only $ 1 a pop but JJ Bakery’s jellies tastes better at $ 2 a pop. I will be back for the xiao long baos and update my review later. If you want to save money but still want quality dumplings and baos, come here! You just need to learn how to properly cook them and get the right sauce. TIP: Cash only!

Love this place. Seems old and worn inside and out, but their breads and cakes are to die for. Their breads are nice, soft, fluffy, and a little sweet. There’s also thick sliced bread if you can find it in time(yumm.) I love their tapioca bread the most, but I love all their breads the same. They’re really addictive and cheap! :) This place sells out pretty fast, so if you want freshly baked packed bread, you have to come when they open to ensure availability of all breads. Also, for my birthday every year, we always order a huge strawberry whipped cream cake. Not a huge fan of frosting, so I order this instead(sooo good btw.) very light and fluffy(not sponge cake though.) and the cream is not OVERLY sweet. The strawberries are also a little tangy, but sweet at the same time. You need to pre-order the cakes ahead of time, but it takes no time to pick it up.(I think it takes a couple hours-half a day)

My mom has been coming to Diho for… probably 20 years or something now. I grew up eating their breads and red bean or pineapple buns and bao zi and coffee cake rolls, and I had their cakes at nearly every birthday that I spent in SoCal. More recently, the frozen dumplings have become a family staple. Basically, everything I’ve ever had from Diho has been good, if not great. People might talk about 85, but I like this mom-and-pop shop, and its no-frills attitude.

Overjoyed to find fresh whole wheat vegetarian bao here, 3 different types. The last several places I got them from have closed. Here they were better than I imagined. Worth the 1 hour plus drive from L.A. County. The outside dough was so pillowy soft. It was magical as I squeezed and watched it spring back in place. I split open the first batch which incorporated a mushroom and noodle filling. The second batch was comprised of a vegetarian meat filling. The third batch contained a bamboo shoot filling. Turns out I was a panda bear in my prior life, because my favorite was the bamboo shoot filling. Perhaps it had to do with the slightly crunchy texture contrasted against the soft springy whole wheat dough. Maybe they were fresh bamboo shoots and when I was young, I had eaten mostly the canned type? Now I am curious, what are the rest of the dough ingredients besides the whole wheat flour? They had lotus seed cakes which I am very fond of. More time is needed to take pictures, especially of the menu way up high. If you come to this shopping center to do an errand, they have just about everything you might need to do on these premises. It is definitely an ethnically diverse one stop shopping trip. Did not see a Union Bank, though did spot a BofA bank, Chase bank, shoe repair, coffee shop, jewelry shop, Ralph’s, CVS plus all other types of American restaurants such as BBQ and sandwich shops. There are several other types of bakeries I want to check out my next trip here, in fact, I would allow several hours just to peruse what is on this expansive property. There is a Persian bakery. There is also restaurant that has Persian cuisine across the parking lot. An Indian restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, a Korean restaurant(where we ate) and a vegetarian restaurant(which we missed and only upon departure did we see it) are nearby. Finally Mitsuwa and Daiso. As we drove out of the parking lot, there is even a sign that says«thank you for visiting». It reminded me of Disneyland’s «It’s a Small World», for foodie shoppers like myself, it’s nirvana.

Where do i go when I wake up in the morning a vegetarian, driving around the Culver/Walnut part of Irvine, and too lazy & starving to make lunch? Diho!!! I like coming here for the vegetarian steamed wheat buns. There are many different options for vegetarians, as well as for meat eaters. I love taking them home and dipping them in soy sauce & siracha. Diho also sells dumplings, pastries, etc. I’d rather get my sweets at 85 though. Just be careful for idiot parkers and pedestrians that don’t look out for other cars.

Although this store is labeled as a bakery, to be honest, the bread here is pretty underwhelming. If you’re looking for good bread, you’re going to the wrong place! Go to 85 degress or something, if you want decent bread. This place is better known for their frozen food; basically their frozen dumplings. Their pan fried dumplings EASILY beats any of the ones that you can find in any Asian or Non-Asian supermarket. Each piece of the pan-fried dumplings is also very BIG! I also tried their«wonton» and it was pretty good too. The pork buns were ok… nothing too special. The only thing I don’t like is… none of their frozen products have any nutrition label, more importantly the date for when the product was made and when it expires! … Other than that, its my favorite place to get frozen pan-fried dumplings!

Best baozi EVER! I had their baozi a year ago and have been in love with it since~ I never got the chance to go back until a few months ago. It was still as AMAZING as ever. My goal is to learn to make baozi like Diho’s. It’s pretty cheap too and there are also breads you can get. Everything tastes pretty authentic! The workers were very nice as well even though their English lacked. LOVELOVELOVETHISPLACE!

After a streak of bad frozen dumpling experience I was about to make my own. And then I stepped into Diho — I hadn’t even planned to go there, it was just on the way to Kaya — there it was, a fridge full of frozen dumplings staring me in the face. It’s $ 13 for 50 pcs of pork & cabbage dumplings, pretty decent price considering the restaurants charge $ 5 – 6 for 8 pcs. They tasted pretty decent, how dumplings are supposed to taste like. I also bought a bunch of food — rice noodles, chicken bun, taro cake and rice dumplings. Rice noodles were just alright, tasted home made but I probably wouldn’t return for them.
