I had a pastrami sandwich here. it comes on ciabatta and was mostly bread, and not a lot of meat. it was not a good sandwich

The Ruben is divine! Truly one of the best I’ve ever had. The ratio of corned beef, cheese, and kraut is perfect. You don’t have to dislocate your jaw to take a bite. The sandwich stays together as you eat it. Grease does not leak out of your bread and run down your hand and wrists. This is a sandwich for one. It’s not huge and you won’t hate yourself after you eat it. It’s served with a pickle only and that is just fine with me. It satiates my hunger yet doesn’t stuff me to the point of drowsiness. It’s also fairly priced and the quality is good. If you love the Ruben then you’ll love theirs.

Great sandwiches! Try their steak and jalapeño or their chicken and mushroom. They are both fantastic. You can order before hand by phone too and they’ll have it ready for pick up.

Kind of overpriced and lacking flavor — a fitting metaphor for Irvine. I thought the Bella Brie combination was strange — roast beef, roasted peppers, horseradish, and brie — it did not sit well in my stomach. It was over $ 13 for a sandwich, chips, and a water.

I came in on a Tuesday morning and there was quite a handful of people. About 3 people were ahead of us and there were some people already sitting inside. There are a few tables inside but there are plenty of tables outside as well. They have a big menu, but sadly no waffles and no coffee(it’s okay considering there is a Coffee Bean right next door). I ordered a French toast and enjoyed it very much. It came with fruit and syrup which I thought was great because there are places that just give you the bread. I think many places also forget to put cinnamon on French Toast and cinnamon is essential for the flavor of French toast. My friend got pancakes with scrambled eggs and sausage. He was also pretty satisfied, big portions and food was not greasy whatsoever. I am definitely coming back to try their sandwiches and paninis! They have a vast selection of sandwiches and paninis and the best part is that everything is made fresh when you order! And make sure to check in and get your 20% off your first order!

The place looked super cute but as excited as I was to get there and try their Benedict at 7am when it says they’ll open for breakfast/brunch, they were closed. They open at 8am. Maybe next time.

The food here is so good! Went to this location for lunch once with two other co-workers, and we all loved our food(we all ordered different things). I would probably come back a lot more often if it wasn’t so far from my work. Their menu is actually very uniquely built — I’ve never seen some of the ingredient combinations, but wow, it is good! The man who worked here was really nice — he actually gives off the friendly European-ish vibe that you really don’t get in California. He was very open to answering any menu questions, and was a pleasure to talk to. The area is clean, and quiet(but not too quiet — but I came here around 1:30 so maybe it’s not as quiet during lunch) compared to other food plazas in the surrounding areas. Definitely good for lunch break away from all the stress and noise. Most of the seating is outdoors(it is a very small indoor café — so only a few tables inside), but there are umbrellas and shade, so no problem.

My wife and I got mad food poisoning off this place. I know that it was from here because we never eat out and this was the one time we did and we both got super sick to where we went to the hospital. I also noticed that the guy who made our food was on on his cell phone texting or watching something and went straight to making our food without washing his hands… I should have known better. I will be contacting the county so they can come inspect this place for health violations. Imagine what he does on the toilet and on his off time with his phone in his hand and then makes your food… Just saying…

Such cute little place in a nice area too! I always pass by this place when I go to Coffee Bean next door, and I’ve always been meaning to try it, and I finally did with my mom one morning for brunch! I got the veggie delight sandwich and it was more filling that I thought! They stacked the sandwich high with lots of filling and it was absolutely refreshing and delicious! The service was fast, it’s never really crowded at all, and the people are friendly! They also use good quality ingredients. There’s seating outside, but I don’t recall any inside, which is fine because it’s kind of like an outdoor food market anyways. Very charming! I would come here again for sure!

Omg! This place is amazing! I was majorly craving some serious brunch food and found this lovely little place on Unilocal. It’s a cute café with few indoor seating but a large outside dining area. The server and owners were friendly and I got my food pretty quickly(5−10mins) since it wasn’t particularly busy. I got an order of Avocado ham & cheese omelette and it was scrumptious!!! 10⁄10. I also got an order of Figs and honey which was less exciting than the magnificent omelette but nevertheless still a tasty snack. Will definitely recommend!

I had the So Cal Italian sandwich for breakfast(see my photo). It had a lot of meat and came out huge! It was good for the price. I also had the breakfast egg and cheese bagel sandwich. This was plain for $ 6.50. To add a meat or anything else on it was pricey. Something that I would like to add to the menu would be a Italian panini on a sourdough. Best deal: fresh squeezed OJ for $ 1.95

WHAT A LITTLEGEM. I love this place. I got breakfast here as a first timer 2 weeks ago and I’m hooked! They have enough varieties for you to choose to make your omelete. I always go with the 3 choice omelete: avocado, sausage and cheese. I always leave happy because this omelete does not come alone– they have a side of potatoes and french bread! The bread is so crunchy and not as soggy or hard as they seem to appear. Prices are reasonable and there are seats either inside the little café or outside. 20% off with check-in! Definitely recommend the early birds to come check this place out :)

My wife and I went to a Mustard Café years ago in Mission Viejo but it went out of business. We really enjoyed their Italian trattoria-style food and atmosphere. We were excited to find another location this past weekend in Irvine and stopped in for a late lunch. This was a very different experience than we remembered. Upon walking through the door we couldn’t help but notice the Mexican music playing loudly throughout the place. So much for the Italian deli atmosphere. My wife and I ordered a Proshmotto sandwich and Chicken Roasted Tomato panini that we would share. We sat at one of the very few tables within the deli but when the food was ready, opted to sit in the outdoor courtyard in order to avoid the loud music. The crew seemed more into entertaining each other than focusing on good customer service. At one point, one of them came out from behind the counter that had an Upper Crust Pizza shirt on, which is another restaurant within the food court. The place seemed to lack any management or care. Even out in the courtyard we could still hear the music but at a volume that we could converse. The Proshmotto sandwich had really good flavor but lacked ingredients with only a few leaves of basil and minimal amount of prosciutto. The panini had a nice portion of chicken breast but again was very light on other ingredients. When I opened the sandwich to cool, I noticed that the one small leaf of arugula on my half was mostly black and rotten so I removed it completely. I doubt we’ll be returning again.

***Awful customer service*** Despite the mediocre reviews, I have been to this place a few times but I will never go again. Recently, I ordered viz Eat24 a standard club sandwich along with a breakfast sandwich. When I arrived, a traditional club was on a baguette. That was odd as I have never seen a traditional club sandwich served on a baguette. It is usually on sourdough cut into 4 pieces. I politely asked if I can get 2 slices of sourdough for my sandwich. I didnt want a new one, just to switch the bread.(I’ve worked in food service for years and know this is a minor request). He told me know because that will waste the baguette which costs him $.10! He could have charged me $.10 for the darn bread. Instead, he repeated that he did not want to lose the bread so I just told him that he lost a customer! A small gesture would have went a long way. I will never ever go here again.

4.5 star for the following — mixed berry salad add turkey. Not too sweet and very refreshing. Dressing is great. Avoid the chicken add on bc it’s dry. — Apple pecan salad is also great — croque Madame. Bechamel sauce is really flavorful I come all the time since it’s close to work and the quality is consistent. I didn’t love the sandwiches but the dishes I mentioned are always good.

Omelette was like plastic. Bacon was like paper. Avocado was brown. Price was robbery. Pannini was good and bad. Toasted well with soft bread underneath the crispy crust. Chicken inside was VERYDRY. Taste was good but dried slivers of chicken breast were so stringy that they got stuck between my teeth. I can see why people like this place, and I might come back(most likely not) but it’s not a priority. I can make much better at home, and I can grill my own sausages and bratwurst. Outside seating is ample and pleasant. Parking is also very easy. Unimpressed. Not much else to say.

Mustard Café brings a unique Deli experience to the denizen’s of Irvine. I have been a Mustard Café faithful for some time now. Ever since the first time I tried their excellent Roast Beef and Bleu on Baguette sandwich almost a decade ago, I have sung their praises to anyone willing to listen. I have heard many scoff that their prices are too high, but a $ 7.50 per sandwich average is actually very rational in South County and considering they use Boar’s head Provisions almost exclusively this is almost a bargain. Outside of the Roast Beef and Bleu you can look to the OC Pastrami, Bella Brie and the Club sandwiches for a delicious lunch. They also offer Breakfast and Coffee during the mornings, check out the Bacon, Egg and Cheddar for a sandwich with substance but if you like a nice light Breakfast, look no further than the Feta, Tomato & Cucumber Sandwich. Save some duckets by checking in with the Unilocal mobile app! I received 20% off my last order.

Located in the Oak Creek plaza(between coffee bean and chase bank), this place is very popular for people who want to grab a bite — especially in the mornings! Stopped by and ordered the french toast, but it was only okay. The bread was a little bit hard and grainy, and I wasn’t that big of a fan of the sesame seed crust. I was hoping for it to have a little more vanilla flavor(being a crazy dessert junkie, I LOVE my sweets!). However, the strawberries and powdered sugar was a nice touch! The inside is really cute. Easy to order and quick place(love the mirror off to the left by the way), and ample seating outdoors! The person who took my order as well as the cook were both really nice :) I’ll probably be back to try their sandwiches because it seems like that’s what gets the most hype about this place!
