OVERALLRATING = 9⁄10 EATS: Nama Chocolate Champagne(Pierre Mignon) = 10 Matcha Bar Chocolate = 9 ATMOSPHERE = 7 SERVICE = n/a APPEAL = 9 Since this chocolatier is literally named after me and I, myself, being very impartial to chocolate, I feel I am completely responsible for reviewing this place and that no other Unilocal review matters as much as this one in all Unilocal-dom. The chocolate here is not your average PG-rated chocolate like Hershey’s that kids will just eat up with no care, nor is it your PG13-rated chocolate like Godiva or Ghirardelli that holds a bit more«adult situations» palate with complexity and rich flavor. Nope, this is your R-rated chocolate, where you’re not sure if you want to go down this road where there’s a big risk of not coming back out of it without baggage. The temptation to explore intense gratification at a hefty price should not be dismissed lightly. The price is bad enough in of itself($ 17 for bag of chips???), but once indulging you may instantly regret all the PG’s and PG13’s you’ll see from that point on. Stupid analogy aside, bottom line is that this is seriously good chocolate with the texture and flavor on par with the Swiss’s and the Belgian’s, if not better. World-class chocolate, and it pleases me to say that it’s worthy of bearing my name. What’s the deal with the apostrophe at the end?

I’m not a chocolate person, but when my coworker gave me a piece of her Royce champagne flavor chocolate, I was hooked and I knew I had to get a box for myself. Their chocolate is sooo smooth and creamy and isn’t tooo sweet where it will make you feel sick. They put the chocolate box in a cooling bag(I think it can keep it cool for 2 hours?) but you should put it in the fridge once you reach your destination. The closest location to me was this one, located inside Mitsuwa marketplace in Irvine. It’s pretty pricey at $ 18 a box, but it’s worth it.

I bought my friend the champagne chocolate where you have to put it in the fridge. She said the flavors were very good a bit pricey for 18 bucks but it is a gourmet chocolate. I also got her this other green tea one with chocolate inside but she said the flavor and texture was kind of odd. My sister loves the green tea chocolate one that needs to be refrigerated.

This chocolate is legit. It’s smooth, creamy and you can’t go wrong with any of their selections. I personalyl liked the champagne chocolate and mild cacao. Their chocolate covered potato chips are really good too(caramel is my fav). Their biscuits are even good!!! Ask for samples so you know what to buy. It’s on the pricey end though.

This is one of the best chocolate I have ever had. I would recommend the coconut cookies, dark chocolate and green tea. The chocolate is so fine.

I first tried Royce’ chocolate when a coworker brought back a small box from his trip to Japan. I’m not really a chocolate fanatic whatsoever but the exquisite silky texture and refined flavors really struck me. I immediately looked it up online to see where I could buy it and it turned out that it was only available at that time at high end Royce boutiques in Asia and a new store on Madison Avenue in NYC. That was a couple of years ago but that small taste literally stayed with me since then. When a friend recently travelled through Tokyo, I was delighted that he was able to pick up a box of the«Maccha» Green Tea flavor for me. It was just as exquisite as I had remembered. Tonight, we were eating at Spicy City Chinese Restaurant in Irvine and I did a double take when I saw that the girl at the next table had a Royce’ shopping bag. I was compelled to approach her and inquire where she got it. She didn’t speak English well but indicated that it was from the Mitsuwa Japanese supermarket in the plaza! We hustled over and found that the small Royce’ boutique inside the Mitsuwa had just opened in November. Tonight, we got the«Champagne» Chocolate. You’ll just have to experience this luxurious treat for yourself. Be forewarned that this is not inexpensive chocolate. Each 4.4 oz box contains 16 small rectangular pieces and runs for $ 18. Royce’ is literally the best kept secret in America when it comes to fine chocolate. Be the first on your block to be in the know!
