I love this Ruby’s! Their eggs benedict is my favorite but their breakfast menu is to die for. The waiters are also very nice and welcoming.

3:00 p.m. Just got home from this Ruby’s. My dog and I sat on the shady patio where I enjoyed guacamole, salsa and chips and an(inevitable) Chardonnay. It was a lovely quiet afternoon in a peaceful setting with cheerful and pleasant servers. Ruby’s fans, do you remember the Balboa Pier Ruby’s, and Joe, who seemed to do everything but cook? So glad Ruby’s is still here.

First time I have had mediocre service at Rubys. Beyond long wait and fries and burgers were tepid. A table near us complained and the server commented that she does not cook the food. It’s too bad.

Nice setting but service leaves a lot to be desired Was told the wait was 15 mins, and we were only 2 people, yet there were a total of 8 tables empty and set and there was only a party of 3 before us. Fries were old and cold, waited 20 mins for fries and half hour later the milk shakes hadn’t arrived, yet 3 tables who were seated after we had given our order had already got their shakes. Very poor service indeed

Got kids orders wrong. Delivered to wrong table. Really? Then the food I asked for was cold. Servers are very nice. But heavily understaffed! They need more people during busy hours like lunchtime maybe? Just a thought. Overall. If say com at a very very off peak time. Otherwise not worth the hassle.

Never been to the location overlooking the lake. Nice view, and atmosphere. Fun promotion to be apart of. Service was efficient, taste was basic.

This location has an absolutely beautiful view of the North Irvine Lake, and the interior décor theme of boats is very fun and perfect for families. For the most part, the staff is incredibly helpful and very nice. My main issue with this place is the inconsistency in quality of foods. Sometimes when I go the food is absolutely delicious, but on some rare occasions when I order the same exact item I will get something so inedible that we will basically just leave it on the table and have paid for something we couldn’t even digest. This is mainly happened during the breakfast hours, which I’ve noticed are pretty busy for them on the weekends. Another small issue is that whenever you need the waiters, they never seem to be there so you’ll be sitting there for half an hour trying to flag down the waiter so you can get your check and it will take you way too long to get on with your day. I suspect that they may be a little understaffed, but I do salute to all the hard-working staff members that they have because although it is hard to get them, you can tell it’s because they are all assigned so many tables and are dealing with many many customers and children. Still, for the location alone I would really recommend at least visiting once and requesting to sit by the windows because you will have an incredible view.

Ruby’s is my favorite place for a burger. But this experience was below satisfactory. I ordered extra, extra, extra well done French fries with my burger. They were far from well done. The server said he would bring me another order of fries. I told him no, I didn’t have time, as the movie I was going to watch was starting soon. Several minutes later the manager brought me more fries! Was there no communication? The server brought my check and apologized. He said he wrote extra crispy in the order. Then why did he bring me an order he knew was not right? I will return to this diner, but I’ll get a different server. If my fries aren’t done correctly, I’ll take my fries and server to the cooks. I will cancel my order and eat elsewhere.

Every once in a while my wife and I crave a good burger and Ruby’s always satisfies. The Ruby’s in Irvine is situated across Barranca from Woodbridge Lake. Most seats within the restaurant and on the outdoor patio have a nice view of the lake. We don’t have kids so we normally go mid-week at off hours because this is a great family restaurant that gets loud. This time we stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy. The décor is the standard 50’s diner that Ruby’s is known for with a boating theme. They have some really beautifully Chris-Craft models on display. My wife ordered the Cinnamon Roll French Toast Combo from the all-day breakfast menu and I ordered The Classic RubyBurger with Garlic Fries. We started it all off with a chocolate malt. The chocolate malt is delivered in a glass with a nice fat straw and extra portion still in the mixing cup. As we sucked down the glass it seemed light on malt but was still good. When I poured the extra mixing cup portion into the glass, I found all the malt… in the bottom of the mixing cup. Seems like Ruby’s would be better at mixing malts than that. I scrapped all the malt out and hand mixed it in with a spoon. That half ended up being extra malty — YUM! My wife really enjoyed her meal with no complaints and the same goes for me. The cheddar cheese on my burger was thick and sometimes stringy. It came with a nice portion of ingredients. The only thing I realized I would do differently after the fact would be to order it with pickles. I didn’t realize there were no pickles on this burger. The garlic fries were super good and slightly greasy but we were already putting our blood flow to the test so it didn’t matter. All in all, Ruby’s came through again. Our server, Breanna, was very attentive and all of the food came quick. We had not only her but the busboy and what appeared to be the manager ask us how everything was during our meal. They definitely seem to put effort into making sure the customer is satisfied.

I’m really not a big fan of chain-restaurants and rather find some local old school diner. The place is too bright and in your face.

A So-Cal favorite, I’ve been dying to try out Ruby’s Diner. Originally a Jersey girl, I’ll admit I was disappointed that they didn’t have brown gravy to go with the fries. The waitress said they got rid of mashed potatoes and gravy on the menu so it sounds like they used to have it. The service was great. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was yummy and came out in a decent time. My only real complaint is the cleanliness of the restaurant. There were ants visible on the tables around us and that left a poor taste in my mouth. I’ll probably try a different location next time.

Very mediocre and very unforgettable burgers but will do if you want the diner experience and have burger and fries. Had the caliente chipotle turkey burger which has a much more fun and tasty name than the burger itself. I love avocado, spice, and turkey burgers but this burger was just all together tasteless from the turkey patty to the unseasoned avocado paste to the chipotle and kickless mayo. Fries were also somewhat soggy and not fresh. The shakes are good though and found them deliciously creamy.

We have been coming here for a long time and always have a good experience. Breakfasts are good and burgers are even better. And the view is fantastic.

We went in for dinner and were greeted by the friendly hostess. And our server was very sweet, however, I noticed the staff was not very attentive to their tables. Including our server. Hopefully it was just an off night. But the food was good. As always!

Ruby’s Irvine is a 50’s style diner with an elevated view of the park. While this is a national chain restaurant, the burgers are solid and they’re served with refillable fries — can’t beat that!

This Rubys is kinda hidden but at the same time it’s not . It’s more so around the corner in the plaza so it provides a great view of the Irvine Lake wile you eat youe goodies. The service wasn’t bad they were really quick to bring out our food and i was suprised because it seems like Ruby’s has improved the quality of their food but that didnt come without a price hike. They have expanded their menu and it has all kinds of new things that sounded delicious but none of them caught my interest as generally over the years we’ve just gotten burgers here. One thing this location has going for them is it’s pretty much the only place to grab some food in this plaza and if your going to the movies here this might not be a bad idea to have dinner at because it’s quick, close by, and generally seems to be quite dead because the location is kinda hidden. One thing that i definitely must address is the fact that they dont give kids crayons anymor whats up with that? Having them use their silverware to scratch the menu to create color is kinda gross and in the long run will destroy your tables trust me im sure of this! Overall i was surprised with how good it actually was because last time we went to a Ruby’s it seemed to have gone down hill but after this most recent visit i’d be tempted to come back to this location or another one because it seemes they have improved on quality and you can’t ever go wrong on that.

Out of all of the Ruby’s locations I’ve been to, this definitely has to be my favorite location. I feel like the ones that are located at malls aren’t as good… maybe it’s just because they are always too crowded. This location is located at the back of the shopping center, which you can either get to by walking outside, or take a shortcut through Barnes & Noble to get there. It’s a pretty spacious location, and has a lovely view of the lake! All of the waiters/waitresses have been extremely friendly and I haven’t had any problems with them. Because this location is never super crowded, you get your food out relatively quickly. Overall, I’d suggest coming here if you specifically want to eat at Ruby’s and want to avoid big crowds! Plus the view of the lake is really nice to look at, especially if you get seated right next to the big open windows :)
