Spirit Halloween

Always find what we need, yes we only need once a year but at least we know we will find what we need, thanks guys and gals BOO! lol
even found things I didn’t know I needed ha ha ha.

Three things that drive this down to a one star. 1) I purchased an animatronic that I specifically asked if I could return if it didn’t work. They agreed to it, but did inform me that they would only be open one more day, Nov 2^nd. Well, I tested it that night and the darn thing didn’t work so I brought it back and was told I «No returns, only exchanges». Well they didn’t have another one. That brings me to issue number two. 2) they couldn’t contact any other stores and «couldn’t look up» other store phone numbers. Really, because I found it on my phone within 30 seconds. So I effectively got pawned off to another store that had a similar item I could exchange it for. Ok fine, I will drive out like a still not completely unhappy customer in search of satisfaction. The experience at the Tustin location started off well enough until it came down to the actual exchange part. So my $ 99 list price item was being exchanged for a $ 79 list price item (a jumping rat returned for a jumping spider). However, because the rat was first discounted to $ 59 and then marked down 50%, they wouldn’t let me do an equal swap with the $ 79 spider discounted 50%. Grrrr, so I said forget it, let me choose a couple of other items. I picked out two ground spotlights that were $ 29.99 each. That’s about $ 59.99 right? Well that’s where Spirit Halloween truly deserves less than one star. 3). They said the difference of one cent that the store would owe me prohibited them from doing the exchange. I said to keep the penny because I honestly didn’t care about it and just wanted to get out of there. Well they insisted that I had to pick something else. How about donating $ 1 (really, at this point they want me to donate?), or buy a $ 1 P.O.S. shot glass I would want throw away as I walked out the door.
So, the moral of the story is to stay away from Spirit Halloween in the future. Their temp employees really couldn’t care less about your needs and their strict systems requirements don’t allow any flexibility for unique circumstances. Forcing customers to spend more money because of selling a defective product just smacks of corporate greed.

Terrible experience. Poor customer service both at this location and the one off Barranca in Tustin. Purchased a body suit for my 13 yr old daughter. She was not allowed to try it on at the store. Body suit fit her tight. We went back the next day, package was intact. The manager and the clerk were nothing but rude. Had a terrible attitude. They were almost happy to tell me I couldn’t return or exchange the item. All I wanted was to change the size. At the time of purchase there was no explanation regarding the strict exchange policy. I could understand if it was after the holiday but it wasn’t. I had the receipt and the item was in its original package intact.
I will never shop here again. It is pricy and the personnel working there were nothing but rude.
This is the first time in my life I post on Unilocal.I feel so strong about this situation I felt humiliated and embarrassed at the counter when the manager and the clerk spoke to me. They were loud offensive and rude.
Do not shop there. There are many other choices and less expensive.

Super excited coming here because as soon as I walked in store I was not confused where to look. Alice S. is right, extremely organized. Well laid out, clean, lots of different items and accessories. The location in Costa Mesa was always so difficult to navigate. Everything here is marked so you know what is adult and children’s. The staff is super helpful. The girl that helped me gave great suggestions. Dressing rooms. Good prices. This place is fun and love it! BOOnderful!

The cleanest most organized seasonal Halloween store I’ve seen. And good customer service. Tons of costume choices and it’s all organized by theme so it’s really easy too find what you are looking for! Prices are decent too especially if you get a coupon from their website!
