This place is the best! I always come here when I am in Irving, TX. Vast menu for tortas. Service is great and food is good. The prices are also reasonable. They also have the off the wall types of items like tongue and brain. I had a cow’s head tacos for the first time and it was really good.

Stopped in after the Longhorns whooped the sooners … the lengua en salsa was absolutely delicious !! My buddy had the sopa de mariscos … it looked like those we’ve had along the Mexican coast … had loads of seafood in it, and delicious !! Served with traditional rice and beans, which were good, and homemade corn tortillas … the best !! The ‘aguas’, or drinks made with fresh fruit, are spot on, too !! Very refreshing and lots of fresh fruit in the drink !! The restaurant is owned by Dona Lencha, and she has her entire family working there … her kids, and their kids … all very friendly … our waiter brought us a bonus … a quesadilla with choriqueso, a mix of Mexican chorizo and queso … it was outstanding !!! And their prices are great !!!

Ok, so it’s really more like 4.5 stars… These are solid tacos. The lengua(tongue) are the best I’ve had. The al pastor(marinated pork) is solid, but inconsistent. Barbacoa is good. The corn tortillas are better than the flour, I doubt the flour are made in house. The torta criminal is, well, criminally good. Tons of flavor. Layers of decadently marinated meat. Mexican cheese. Delish. Burritos, enchiladas, all good. Menu is long and confusing and they don’t have a take home menu or web menu. Food isn’t too spicy. Deserts are fantastic. Service is excellent, ambience is nill. Prices are crazy cheap.

There is no option for less than one star, so one will have to do. My wife and I made a commitment when we moved to Irving in October to not eat at the same restaurant twice this year. This restaurant made it easy to not want to return. You are greeted by a sign that says no pictures. A little funny but what the heck. I had the Torta Cubana and a soft chicken taco. Dried out chicken on a flour torrilla. No I left out nothing. The salsa bar was so heavily spiced that I could not taste antthing. The Torta included a large chunk of bone.(uploaded a photo because it bothers me more as I write that photos are frowned on). The service is as poor as the food so at least there is a consistency. When pointing out the large bone no effort was made to make it right. I would not have accepted more food and did not ask for a comp, but some type of remorse would have been welcome from management. This was a sad experience as we frequently enjoy mist diners and dives and the pricing was reasonable. This is not a restaurant I can think of anything good to say except it was cheap. So in summary this is a Gump resteraunt, Run Forest RUN.

Everything about this place is mediocre, two stars because it was eatable but their burritos tasted and smelled just like grilled stuffed burrito from Taco Bell, the kids meal(chicken nuggets) was literally what I have in my freezer Dino Tyson chicken nuggets but for 7 $. The beef barbacoa and cabeza de res tacos were ok at best. I would not return.

This was my first trip here, and I’m not normally in the neighborhood, but if I am, I wouldn’t hesitate to come back. The food was tasty, cheap, and plenty of it. They have a daily $ 4.99 special, and it was fajitas on my visit. I got a mix of chicken and beef and a mix of corn and flour tortillas. The meat was moist with a good char, veggies cooked just right, and both types of tortilla were homemade. It was served with rice and beans, and there’s even a salsa bar with no less than 4 or 5 fresh made salsas, plus fresh pico, jalapeños, onion, cilantro, etc. I also splurged an extra dollar and change on the chips and salsa, and am very glad I did. They were both homemade, and I’m pretty sure I could get addicted to the salsa(yet another variety that wasn’t available on the bar). Good stuff!

Friendly, fast, cheap, delicious. Granted, a buddy and I went at 10 am on a Sunday morning, so we were the only 2 there, but the chorizo and potato tacos were tasty. I’ll have to try again when it is busier or for lunch or dinner, but if you want a quick, cheap, tasty breakfast, go here.

Very affordable but LONG menu. It could get a little bit overwhelming, since there are pictures and signs of their daily specials throughout the restaurant besides the 4 – 5 page menu. I highly recommend their grilled 3 chicken taco plate and burrito. The chicken is well seasoned and tendered. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about their beef tacos or tortas. The meat is over salted and has a low quality text-mex seasoning flavor. They also have some of the best tamales in the area. …flavorful, moist and made daily. I haven’t been able to try any of their breakfast, but they look very good. What I have tried so far is good, but what makes it a better experience is their habanero salsa… mmmmm A must have!

I love their chicken tortas but their customer service is awful. The waitress forgot our queso even after she came back and reminded us it would be right out. Then, my daughter asked for water, she said she would be right back and 15 minutes later, she was a no show. I saw her gossiping with another waitress in the back. If this place can teach their waitresses better service they would be 5 stars in my book because I love their food.

I had high expectations for this place after seeing the funny names for the tortas but I was very disappointed. My torta was very soggy and not«estilo DF» as promised which should have had toasty crispy buns. Unless the sandwich was a piece of art trying to demonstrate the decline of the area in Mexico due to crime, in which case well done. I did enjoy the salsa bar and the friendly staff.

This is a great local taco place. You can’t beat the $ 3.993 tacos with rice and beans. The actual restaurant is decorated really authentic but that is part of the charm. If you’re looking for a beer, make sure to bring your own because it is BYOB. I would recommend this place anytime you are in the mood for some great Mexican for a good price in a casual atmosphere!

You cannot go wrong at this place– its prices rival those of Fort Worth taquerias and the food comes with yummy sides. Sit down and(fast) carry-out is available. They are very accommodating– they throw in the red and green chili PLUS(if you ask) the sautéed onions and pickled carrots(just like they serve tacos in TJ!). Tacos cost only $ 1 everyday and all day. I highly recommend the barbacoa. 3 stars because the sit– down services is lacking… and this place doesn’t even have lemons! The chili bar looked like sad, wilted vegetables waiting for their last call. Also, service is slow– not where you go when ya got only 10 minutes… PS. I noticed the restaurant is very clean– the bathroom was spotless and there was no grimy dirt lingering on baseboards any where in the lobby.

I went here twice and I had two very different experiences. The first time I went here, I just got chicken tortas and it was pretty good. Next t, time I went there, I got chicken and beef tacos. The chicken tacos were really good but the beef was very dry and tasteless! My friend got the fajita plate and his beef was also very dry. I guess when you go here, just get chicken!

Awesome place. Not sure why anyone would give it anything less than 5 stars? Doña Lencha’s is as authentic Mexican as it can get. This is no your«typical», crappy Tex-Mex place. This is real food, and I can vouch for it because I grew up in Mexico City, eating food like this. Pretty close to grandmother’s and mom’s cooking The place is always clean and well lit. The staff is very friendly, always courteous and accommodating when asking for special requests. They have a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, as well as daily specials. All for reasonably good prices. I LOVE their authentic soft corn tortilla tacos(you can choose any kind of meat you want, and they have a full salsa bar with extra toppings available). My favorite dishes are the chicken chilaquiles verdes, their pastor tacos, and their lamb soup. I’ve also tried their aguas frescas, or fresh fruit drinks… they are to die for.

What a deal… The $ 4.99 Friday Fajita Special alone makes it a no-brainer. But no, they have amazing $ 4.99 deals EVERYDAY! Given that it’s a $ 5 deal, you’d expect a smaller portion or limited accoutrement, but such is not the case! The fajitas arrived with delicious fresh tortillas(we couldn’t decide if corn or flour was superior), refried beans, lettuce, and pico. A huge amount of choices and no stuffy atmosphere leaves a relaxing atmosphere to branch out and try some of the non-gringo options. Service was lightening fast and super attentive. My husband really appreciated the enormous water glasses(harder to drain in one sip, and less demanding on waitstaff to constantly refill — win win!) Lots of TV en espanol, so take the opportunity to catch up on your TVE or futbol!

Thanks to Unilocal(again), a place I never would have tried on my own! The chicken mole was excellent with freshly made corn tortillas. The only downside was the store-bought chips that came with the salsa and guacamole — I was really surprised to see these were not made at the restaurant.

Super good, super authentic, super cheap, and huge portions. I don’t know how they pull it all off but they do. My co-workers have tried some of the more interesting dishes like goat tacos and tongue and they seemed to like it. Ordered the Monday Mexican steak special and they didn’t make it Mexican style. My co-worker politely asked them in Spanish if they would make it Mexican style and they did it. Very impressive. The pastor tacos were awesome too. Their tortillas were also very fresh and tasty. Even if you don’t go on Fajita Friday you will smell like cooked meat when you leave this place.
