We’ve been eating at this location for 13 years. Never had more than mediocre expectations. Over the past year We’ve had to lower my expectations to substandard. Buffet almost always looks ugly. Dried up food, obviously held too long. Even worse was the Prime Rib, Butterfly Shrimp special at a SPECIAL price! I have never ever had Prime Rib served well done! It’s just wrong! It was ridiculously tough and dull tasting. Posted picture of shrimp. General Manager Luis Nardini just doesn’t care. This location has only one very good cook that knows what he is doing and the District manager can’t even get him a raise. That cook has given his notice, according to one of the managers. Only one thing has stayed consistently great here, the waiter named Frank. Thank you for the wonderful service Frank.

Excellent Golden Corral experience. Plentiful fresh food. All the food looked good. All the dishes I tried were good. Tables were cleared and cleaned promptly after customers left. Managers were visible and working to keep everything clean. Even the music selection was good!

Judging from the past reviews there seems to have been a management change. The food is fresh the staff attentive and as we visited I watched both staff managers clean bathrooms, tables and service guests. For the money hard to beat with the new attitude !!! Great Job.

A lot of the food are not fresh or reheated even when I come here early. Average dining experience. Restroom is also disgusting. I have dine in here at least once every month or two. Take note that this during lunch hour. Dinner is probably better but by how much? 2 star because only a few selection was decent.

Why must I try to eat places my friends do not like! This was the most repulsive place I have every eaten. And I have had the pleasure of dining in a horse-barn and on a cattle run!

This is for the Beltline location only; if you want a buffet that’s not Chinese, here ya go. Not exactly some of the healthiest options, but there are some that are good. I can’t get enough of the pot roast — that along with the sweet potato casserole and some squash makes me a happy camper. They also have steak available to your preference at the grill. Kids can enjoy pizza and macaroni and cheese. The bourbon street chicken was tasty as well. But nothing kept me going back like the pot roast did. Perhaps the meatloaf. The dessert is amazing — chocolate waterfall covers marshmallows, rice Krispy treats, and fudge. Cotton candy for the kiddos too. Dinners less than $ 13/person, not sure about kids.

This place is OK. Good variety of food and good quality. And yet I don’t feel the need to return here ever again. But if you are looking for a decent buffet with choices that include more than just Chinese, then this is the place for you.

Well Well… where do I begin. I have not been to this location in a year and now I remember why. The clientele that comes here are scary! I was trying to stay out of there way. Finally the food… the only healthy choice is salad. They had baked tilapia earlier(so the manager said) but they wouldn’t bake anymore for me! Said it was too much work! Really!?! Not many vegetables and seems like everything was fried. I gave them 2 stars because the waitress was good.

Always have disgusting dirty bathrooms. Management is clueless about customer service and the food is only mediocre. Steak is always overdone and the stations are dirty. Don’t go here unless you are desperate.

This one at Irving is the worst. They have a different price chart at the entrance and they charge more than that, with the excuse that they had more items than regular days, that specific day we got in. There was nothing special but this outlet at Irving was the worst golden corral we have been!!! We had been to many of golden corral outlets Texas State, say in San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Houston. Of them, the one we got to in San Antonio was great, and the steaks were delicious at all of these places i have mentioned except the one at Irving.

I had a coupon to Golden Corral, so my mom suggested that we go together and stuff our faces. I haven’t been to a Golden Corral in probably over ten years, and for my mom it had been even longer, but we both remembered the food being good. Not great, but good. Unfortunately that’s changed. Almost everything we got was really salty. We did get some steaks, and although small portions(you can always go back for more, it IS a buffet), they were cooked nicely(we asked for medium, we got medium). My mom went to get another piece, and the manager had taken over grilling for a bit — she said that time, the steak wasn’t as good, it was overcooked and dry. My favorite thing at Golden Corral as a kid was the steamed cauliflower with cheddar cheese sauce. The cheese sauce now is watered down and barely tastes like cheese. The mashed potatoes were okay — the brown gravy was a little salty, but the country gravy was good. There was a fish that I got, it wasn’t great. The sauce on the chicken wings and ribs was too sweet for me. Overall I’d say the food is mediocre at best. I’ll probably end up going again at some point, but it’s not my favorite thing.

Despite what the previous 1-star reviews say, this is a nice Golden Corral location. The food was delicious and served at the right temperature. The prices are at a reasonable range. The staff is very friendly, and for a first time waiter, he did a superb job on Saturday. Overall service was excellent. This place was picked by a sci-fi group I’m a part of since Crystal’s Pizza closed last month. And much as I hate to admit it, the food selection here is WAY better(especially the pizza) than Crystal’s. While this isn’t exactly an upscale-ish kind of restaurant, this is one of many places for people like me with a voracious appetite. Keep in mind that some foods may not be healthy for others(as in how many calories and certain food allergies), so it’s best to check their menu online.

I have to say, this was one of the WORST«dinning» experiences of my life! We went to have breakfast, but were immediately told they only had the buffet and no menu options. After we were seated at tables that looked like relics from the 80’s we were directed to help ourselves to the buffet. As my spouse and I got back to our tables we were both horrified at the QUALITY of food we had on our plates. It all looked as if it came out of a bag/box and had been sitting under a heat lamp for a day or more. The food was all under-seasoned or loaded with artificial cheese or sugary toppings. The salad bar, the ONLY«healthy» option available, looked like it had seen better days stuck back in a corner and ignored. While trying to swallow the food we started looking around the building and that was when we got up and walked out. The ceiling was covered in black dust, tiles were broken and falling off the buffet, the carpet and tile looked like it had been through years of wear and tear, and the décor was depressing and sad. When we were leaving the building there were 3 or 4 ladies standing around the cash register talking and did not bother to say goodbye or thank you. As we were walking to our car we noticed the dilapidated state most of the parking lot was in. We were so upset that we had wasted almost 20.00 of our hard-earned money we were sick. The fact that what we purchased is in the same vocabulary as quality restaurants with real food and a chef who prepares it with ingenuity is an insult to the restaurant business. I went so far as to snap pictures of the conditions the building was in to record the experience so that hopefully someone with some power and position could see just how abdominal the establishment and food was. The ONLY redeeming quality was our server, who is not even the person on the receipt(which was saved along with the photographs). Please, do not let people waste their money on inferior food and a dirty, sad environment.

It was my first time going to any Golden Corral. Overall opinion(at least of this one): Yuck. Dirty and dank of a restaurant. Food not so great. Okay, I know that when you go to a buffet you generally aren’t looking for healthy food, but I was initially pleasantly surprised to find a salad bar with a good variety of lettuce, fruits and veggies. But when I started to take some spring greens, they were all wilted, some of them were at the beginning stages of sliming. Not cool. But still, I wasn’t too bummed; after all, like I said, when you go to a buffet you’re not really looking for healthy food anyway. So moving on… Some of the food was actually downright gross, in fact. For example, when I got chicken-fried steak and bit into it, it tasted like fish! The only way to explain it is that the steak was probably prepared in the same pan as a fish dish that went uncleaned. My friend who suggested going to Golden Corral said that the one she had been to before was much nicer than this one, and their food was better. And if she’s right, Golden Corral should work on making their restaurants more consistent. You know how certain national chain restaurants are pretty much the same wherever you go – the food quality all the same, cleanliness and overall atmosphere all the same, etc. That is definitely not the case with Golden Corral; they should work on that.
