I’m so confused by all these great ratings. I tried to get this place to make a very basic drink and had to ask them three times to remake it because it was made incorrectly. Ended up just having to throw it out completely because it was disgusting even after three times of walking them step by step how to make this very very basic drink. Ridiculous.

Soooo slow. Took at least 10 minutes to make 1 iced drink, 2 cold chocolate milks, and 1 hot chocolate. If you get an iced drink, it’s $.50 extra, which seems a little crazy since you’re getting at least 50% ice. The barista guy was very nice, and the ambiance is relaxing. This is a good place if you’re not in a hurry.

I was pretty disappointed the several times that I had been there. The bakery items tasted stale and the cashier each time was new. I have given them an opportunity on at least 5 different occasions, but on a regular basis there were not any open tables and the individuals seated at the tables were evidently not patrons or had evidence that they had purchased anything at all.

I asked for an iced coffee — not very hard to make. Took forever for them to make it while several others got waited on and received their drinks and smoothies I was still waiting. Got coffee — had coffee grounds in it. Asked for a new one — they acted annoyed and irritated with me — sorry for not wanting coffee grounds in my iced coffee I am paying $ 3 for and could have just got at home with NO coffee grounds. Waiting literally 10 minutes for a new coffee — then I said I just want a refund. Manager did not say sorry about that or anything — begrudgingly got on register and said it refunded — I looked at my statement today and it was not credited. I am going to have to call my bank to dispute it now — waste of my time, money, and energy going here. Will not ever be going again.

Let me be clear: not a quick cup of joe! If you want to grab a cup of coffee here and only have a few minutes to spend, find somewhere else. These baristas are in no kind of hurry ATALL! Of the 3 times I’ve been here, I’ve never waited less than 10 minutes. My first visit cost me almost 40 minutes for a simple vanilla latte. Having said this, it tastes better than Starbucks but that isn’t a very high bar to reach. Now if you want a place to come and sit, lounge and talk, enjoy the nice weather, maybe take a walk along the sparkly canal, grab a book at the attached public library and escape from the world — this place is perfect. I especially enjoy their selection of hand knitted coffee cup cozies. Very nice touch.

All 3 staff members who were there were extremely rude and acted as if we were an inconvenience to them. Definitely not a great experience for someone visiting out of town. It’s sad to say but when I visit Dallas area again, I will not be returning.

To start off, I’d like to say that if I was living anywhere in the vicinity of Java Me Up, I would be here a good 5 times a week. My dentist is located right next to this spot, so whenever I get my teeth cleaned, I stop by here first(I know, it seems like drinking coffee is counterproductive to cleaning teeth). There are so many great things about this café, so let’s begin the review! 1.) The coffee itself: Great! They have a great variety, including soy and almond milk! During my last visit, I got a vanilla latte which was on point! Better than your average starbucks beverage. Perfect hint of vanilla and almond while still leaving the espresso to be the star of the show. 2.) The interior: Large but still comfortable. Once you enter, there are a few tables with chairs. To the left, behind a nice arrangement of teas and coffees for sale, there are some nice comfy chairs around a coffee table. 3.) The exterior: There is a large patio area outside with seating available. One of the best parts about Java Me Up is the location. It’s right along a walking trail and connected to the local library. Walking, reading, and drinking coffee… I can’t think of 3 better things to do to relax during the day! 4.) The Food: This part of my review is not based on my personal experience, but my dentist(who is located next to this café) says that the best part about this spot is the food! She says the owner used to be a chef/baker at some well known place(if someone knows the details, help me out) and her cakes are some of the best. All of these reasons should convince you to check the place out if you’re in the area… every time I’m in Valley Ranch, I definitely do!

Came here for some mocha. The barista doesn’t know how to make espresso correctly but it tasted OK regardless.

Java Me Up is a nice spot for those looking to simply grab a coffee, tea, or a quick bite, while avoiding the longer lines and crowded spaces of Starbucks. Perfect environment for studying, both indoors and outdoors, and also offers free wifi. I strongly recommend the pepperoni bagel pizza, which includes just the right kick of zesty Italian flavors coupled with a Parmesan twist! It is also connected to the local library in case you wish to grab a good book or two.

I’m not seeing the love. Poorly made coffee. Coffee beans not roasted local(Kaldi beans were roasted in North Carolina). The Kaldi brands, I believe, are more known for their Torani brand of syrups which they add to the coffee. So perhaps flavored coffees are the way to go, especially after reading the other favorable reviews. But it’s by no means a good place for the coffee connoisseur. Even the foam for the cappuccino was nearly nonexistent. Pretty bad coffee all around, I’ll have to say. However there’s three things that I do like about this place: 1) connected to the library by a door and hall, but not a part of the library 2) big patio facing the picturesque canal with a trail 3) did I say picturesque canal? With a trail? I did… Ok well then the third thing is that they bring the coffee to your table. This place seems popular especially when the library is closing up. And it’s a popular students hangout. Seems like the neighborhood loves to make this spot a meeting place. And understandably so, considering most everything else around here are either Indian chain restaurants. Pastry case seems decent, maybe somewhat with an Italian accent too. Or Ethiopian since there are no Italians. There are sandwiches but they’re already prepared and plastic-wrapped. There are also smoothies and drip coffee of single origin. But if the coffee isn’t made well here, and nothing else really stands out, then don’t come to bother trying this place.

I’m not sure why people have given such favorable reviews for this café. My friends and I stopped here for coffee and the guy that took my order seemed to hate life and was unpleasant, I’m sorry to say. Maybe I caught him on a bad day. I hope he’s not always like that for both his sake and for the sake of the business. The regular coffee that I received did not taste good. Most of selection of baked goods and foods did not look all that appetizing. The most appealing aspect of this place is its proximity to the lovely canal.

A nice nook to study. There are plenty of tables, and the café is spacey. I had an iced hazelnut latte. Their espresso is full-bodied, and the drinks are made with the perfect strength and creaminess. They have a full menu to choose from, including fruit smoothies, which you can add upgrades such as protein to. The pastry bar is nicely stocked with a variety of goods, including giant muffins, gorgeous slices of cake, mini macarons, cream horns, and sandwiches. I was impressed by the overall wide selection to choose from, the very genial staff, and cheery environment.

Seriously, I love this place. I go here all the time, as a meet up space for friends, as a library R/R spot, and as a study spot I like showing friends to since there’s a canal overlook right in the outdoor seating area. Best view for a café in Irving, I must argue. Besides the ample space and perfect brunch atmosphere, Java Me Up has good service all the time, they provide a ton of snacks, treats, and drinks to your desire. I love the lemon tart for its extreme tartness, and drink it down with a mocha cappuccino, with whipped cream of course. Mellows out the sour punch to the face. My friend tried the mini pizza, and he thought it was great. And the iced espresso coffee turned out strong and good too. Also, their frozen blended drinks are awesome too, if you want a frozen treat. Check out this awesome café out when you’re in the area, or need an uplifting spot to study when the weather is perfect.

The staff today was very helpful and attentive. After much eye squinting(didn’t wear my glasses) and indecisiveness, the guy at the counter helped me choose the Nutty Irishman Frappuccino. Om nom nom Irish cream with a hint, okay, a heavy hint, of hazelnut. And this girl loves hazelnut. Apparently all the baked goods are made in house, and the lemon bars were calling my name. so naturally I gave in. ;)

Mmm… I think I found my new home. It sure beats Starbucks, but I just wish this place stayed open later, alongside the library attached. The baristas here don’t just push a button to make a latte like they would do at Starbucks. They take a little longer to make, but they are at least hand-crafted with love. It’s a little more expensive, but I’m a big supporter of small businesses, so it doesn’t bother me too much. It’s not like I go here every morning. Heck, this place isn’t even in a convenient location to take my morning run. I always find it hard to focus at home, so coffee shops(especially«real» coffee shops, such as this) will be my go-to place to unleash my creativity and laptopping — I think I just made a new word. It’s very quiet, and you don’t have that reverberated noise you’d hear at Starbucks. Too bad Starbucks is monopolizing the coffee business, but what can we do? I still love Starbucks, however. Goodness, is this a review or just simply a comparison to that coffee lord? Okay, I’ll stop. After my first visit, which was 2 weeks ago, I couldn’t stop coming by. I tried their white mocha, banana smoothie, Andes mint latte… It’s so delish. The Andes Mint latte was so sweet though(I got a picture), that I couldn’t finish it. Drink it at your own risk. It’s so sweet and lovely, it may come back and give you diabetes. What’s so great is that when you order anything and sit inside their café, they also give you a glass pitcher of water. What a little bonus. This is a family-owned business, and the people who work here are very nice and personable. Makes me want to be friends with them. Man, don’t you love nice people? I know I do!

It’s nice having a local coffee shop down the street which is a nice change from Starbucks. I’ve been here twice to get some studying in(needed a change in scenery instead of staring at my bedroom’s wall all day). The coffee shop is located right next to the public library so if the place gets too busy and you need to continue studying, you can move your items next door. Thankfully, the two times I went were not busy and there were plenty of tables I could choose from. I like how there is a porch with the river outside so you can sit out there if weather permits. Their coffee didn’t stand out to me as much but that’s because I ordered a regular black coffee. I’m intrigue to try their specialty drinks so I will be looking toward that in the future! Overall, cute little shop with plenty of tables/plugs.

Came by and grabbed an iced coffee for a quick caffeine fix. The interior is a little small and crowded which made it a bit uncomfortable to figure out where to stand while waiting for your drink. I hate standing right next to someone typing away on their laptops and they just look up at me like they’re trying to figure out whether or not I’m a spying on them. The drink was nice and strong and the customer service was great. It’s nice to have a great coffee shop so close to my office.

I love coming to this Mom & Pop shop where the Owner, and the Baristas treat you like you’re part of their family. In addition, they sure know how to do a good Americano. They simply do a way better coffee than Starbucks! Note: Support your local spots mi Gente!!! :)

It’s Christmas time. My teens are at Grandpa’s and there’s no(GASP) WiFi at Grandpa’s. It’s pretty much the end of the world, folks. The twins can’t tweet, the boy can’t League of Legends… I open up my handy dandy Unilocal app and TAHDAH! Java Me Up has saved the day. There’s yummy drinks and fresh fruit and muffins for all! The folks there are so friendly and warm and extremely welcoming. I had a fabulous coffee and muffin, the twins had coffees and fruit, the boy had coffee and muffin… and the twins were tweeting, facebooking and tumblring, while the boy played League of Legends. We did that for two hours and all was well for the rest of our trip. Sheesh… these kids and their modern technology. ;) Thank you, Java Me Up, for bringing peace to the Snoddy family in our travels. We are forever grateful and will see you any time we’re in the area.

I have had this place bookmarked for weeks and finally decided to stop by on a late Saturday afternoon. I was really excited because I saw that they have a lot of pastries and honestly I’m a sucker for anything sweet. When I walked in the place was full of people so I decided to study outside. I ordered a medium white mocha frappé, crème brûlée and a coffee macaroon. The macaroon was tiny and they run $ 1.50 for 1. The mocha frape was delicious, honestly it was blended to perfection, really smooth and creamy and topped with whipped cream. The coffee macaroon was decent you could taste the coffee in it. The crème brûlée was a complete pass, it came out warm and when I broke into it with a spoon the texture was really runny. WIfi: they have a free wifi on the service called«Irving Wireless» no need for a password– yay! Even with a house full of people the wifi was still pretty fast and I had no problems. I studied on the outside patio and around 6 it was already pitch black outside, there are lights above the patio but they weren’t turned on… Great place for frappé, nothing exciting about the crème brûlée and great outside patio!
