The food was over salted and mediocre. I had the crab stuffed flounder. I did not like the food. The food came out frightfully fast. This is not a buffet, and it is not a drive through. I did not expect made to order exactly. I guess«timely» was my expectation. Like they took time to prepare SOME parts of it… this isn’t big star dining… I know that. This may not be a problem at all for some. If you’re out to lunch and don’t want McDonald’s that day, this is the perfect place for you. You’ll get your food REALLY fast. … If given a choice between Rockfish and microwave at home, I’ll be nuking. I wish I could rate on service alone. Courteous, friendly and very attentive. The staff gets 5 stars. Like that bad movie you saw where you loved everyone in it and you know they did a great job. If only they had a better script/story to work with. This was exactly like that. The food… no. Just, no.

I’ve eaten here before, and it wasn’t bad. However, tonight I decided to try something new and get the Crab Bisque. I figured since I was at a seafood restaurant it would have chunks of crab in it, etc. But that was not the case. It tasted like they added a block of velveta cheese to the soup. I even had my boyfriend try it to make sure it wasn’t just me. I could only take one bite before sending it back. Won’t be going back for a while…

Take a tip. Order a bowl of Crab Bisque mixed with the Jalapeño Soup you’ll be glad you followed this suggestion.

my wife & i were in the area for a meeting & decided to stop in here for dinner! this was our 1st time eating here so we were both anxious to see what we’d been missing out on! we walked in & were greeted & seated right away! the waitress came over and got our drink orders & gave us time to look over the menu. my wife ordered the blackened catfish & shrimp combo & i had the jumbo lump crab cake appetizers. the food came out in no time… i bit into the crab cakes & there were disgusting!!! very fishy tasting… i’ve had jumbo lump crab cakes before… trust me they were not fishy at all! i literally took 2 bites & i couldn’t do it! the waitress finally came back by and i told her i didn’t want them & she asked me if i wanted anything else & i was like no. well when she came to remove my plate… my wife ordered a tea! so the waitress left & while she was gone… i decided to try the crab bisque soup. we waited & waited & waited & waited for her to come back! she finally strolled back over… about 15 minutes later… no tea… by this time my wife was done with her food & i was just ready to go b/c it was no point in me ordering something now! she claimed she was looking for the manager, who was outside talking??? ok… whatever! we paid the check & left! will i come back here? not sure! we shall see!

After watching the Food Network and seeing a featured restaurant that served fish n’ chips, I got a hankering for the delicious pub favorite and would not rest until I made it my lunch. Unfortunately, the north Dallas suburb in which I live is sorely lacking in seafood options. Rockfish is just down the street and really chose it based on convenience more than anything else. Spending the extra time driving elsewhere would have been worth it. I was in a party of 4. It was a Sunday lunchtime, and where other restaurants would have been busy and possibly had a wait, this place had only two or three occupied tables. Three of us got the fish n chips, the other ordered the flank steak. When the food arrived, the first thing we noticed was the coleslaw. It was swimming in watery apple vinegar and much of it had spilled onto the fries, making them soggy. Not that they would have been great anyways; they looked tepid and sad in the basket. The fish wasn’t terrible, but just overall bland and lacking any type of flavor. It would benefit from a beer batter or some kind of spice. And the last piece I ate hadn’t been properly deboned. When the server took away our plates, there was still food left on all 3 of ours who ordered the fish. I was hungry and I normally eat everything on my plate, but this was just so mediocre I couldn’t finish it. My friend who had the steak ate it all, but still mentioned it was just okay. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars was because of the service. Our server was very nice and attentive, and the bland food experience was not his fault. I’m sure with the empty restaurant, he was just happy to have a table and possible tip for the day. Bottom line: for a restaurant that specializes in seafood, this spot needs a massive overhaul of recipe and quality. You’d do better going to a Red Lobster or Joe’s Crab Shack for the same price.

You know it will probably be below average when you go to bathroom to wash your hands before dinner and it is filthy. I always wonder if the things the customer sees are filthy, what do the things we can’t see look like… LIKETHEKITCHEN! While the server was very nice, the service was extremely slow. It was right at lunch time and only 3 tables of customers. No excuse for slow service. I ordered the blackened salmon with asparagus and rice pilaf. Ordered the garlic butter sauce on the side but could not put it on salmon. It was ice cold like it came out of fridge. Asparagus was lukewarm and stringy at best. Rice pilaf was just ok. My wife had the shrimp and grits which she did enjoy. Server disappeared about half way through the meal. We finally had to track down another server to get our check. With so many quality choices for great seafood, I will pass on Rockfish Grill in the future.

The hostess was very warm and friendly when we walked in. It was my beau’s first time dining here, as well as mine. We have always driven past Rockfish and made a verbal note to stop by, but this day, we finally made it a point to do so. We couldn’t decide on what to eat, so we asked our hostess and she was able able to give us some recommendations that were most popular with the crowds that come in. The Mango Tilapia sounded most appealing to my beau, but I was still indecisive. I know it’s a seafood restaurant, but after debating back and forth, I finally went with the Flat Iron Steak. Since we were pressed for time, we opted to grab a booth at the bar. The bartender was nice, but we could tell they weren’t expecting as big of a crowd as they had. Our service was great, but a little slow. The food came out and we couldn’t wait to dig in. Personally, I wasn’t a huge fan of the mashed potatoes. They had a bite to them that tasted very much like horseradish. I lovedddd their cream corn! So good! My steak was a little chewy, but I kept in mind that it wasn’t going to be the best cut of meat as well. The manager made it a point to check in with us to make sure my steak was cooked properly. His tilapia was really delicious. The mango paired really well with the fish, to my surprise. Overall, their service was impeccable!

Meh service and meh food. No one at our table of 7 was feeling anything more than average about the whole experience. I had a dragon berry mojito. It was pretty good but seemed to have to much mint and ice. Very little drink for 7 dollars and I swallowed multiple sprigs of mint. We had calamari for an appetizer. It was decent, very meaty pieces but naturally squid and octopus has no flavor beyond chewy and sweet. That batter could of used some seasoning, but the size was good. I got Cajun pasta for the entrée, so did someone else at the table. He didn’t like his and hardly touched it. I ate all of mine but only because I was hungry. The andouille sausage was more like chorizo paste. The chicken was atrocious and the pasta was overlooked. The sauce however was great. With each nice thing about everything at the table there were multiple bad things. For a seafood place you would expect clean fresh seafood. Don’t hold your breath. Other meals got were the crab cakes, a salad, surf and turf, and seafood enchiladas. No one was pleased but apparently the steak was great with that rockfish seasoning.

I have only tried a couple things at Rockfish. I have tried their ahi tuna tower appetizer. I would give that a 1, The ahi tuna on it was not fresh. It was very bland. Additionally, I have tried their crawfish. Their crawfish was OKAY. I think this place would be the last place I would go for crawfish. I feel like Razoos has way better crawfish than Rockfish. I would only go here if I was desperate for crawfish.

Pretty typical chain restaurant. The food is good but not mind-blowing, although the flavors they’re aiming for are better than some chains I’ve gone to. The Boyfriend and I came here, as it’s probably the closest seafood restaurant to my apartment. Nothing we got was bad, but nothing was mind-blowing either. We did get talked into dessert — something sort of like fancy s’mores, that was absolutely delicious. If there’s nowhere else to go when I’m wanting some seafood, I’d go back. Service was attentive, and our waitress at least was really nice. The food didn’t take too long to arrive, and it was prepared the way we asked, so nothing to complain about really. Just nothing to absolutely rave about either.

Pretty much fine there with any chain seafood/steakhouse. Food was mediocre at best, but server was a great. She brought up the score about 1 star. She was quickly refilling my water, which I drank about 5 – 6 glasses, and was checking on my food quickly after I orders. Food was what you’d expect… a plain old garden salad with some shredded cheese and a couple grape tomatoes. Steak had a decent flavor, was requested medium, and it was clearly cooked through to medium well at best, probably more like well done. Was actually still surprisingly juicy. Just not to the color I ordered. Veggies with steak seemed to just be frozen veggies reheated. Again, not awful, but when I’m traveling for business, and can eat anything within reason, I will not choose to come back.

What are you guys expecting off of MacArthur in Irving for a seafood joint at this price point? That said — I like Rockfish. The staff is really friendly, the food is good and comes out in a timely manner, and the prices are not bad at all. i normally come with my buddies and we will get a beer, hang out, grab a bite then continue on our day. Nothing that I have had here is bad, I don’t really have a favorite though — so i’m useless in that department.

Mexican Shrimp Martini is amazing and I went back today to try the Ahi Tower that my friend had yesterday that looked even more amazing. The food here is very good. Very fresh. I will come back. However it’s on the spicy side for me. So if your a mild eater, be aware and ask for them to take the spicy sauces off the plates. I feel like I got the flame thrower in my mouth today but I continued to eat because it was good. I loved sitting in the bar booths. They are different from most booths. Great for two people. It’s more like a love seat than a table where people sit across from each other, they sit side by side facing the bar and TV’s. Plus, you don’t feel like the people next to you can hear everything you say or reach over and borrow off your plate. LOL

They have a pretty yummy seafood enchilada in a delicous sauce that is sooooo bad for you! SOBAD. But you should order it so you feel like, you know, you’ve done a little bad in your life, but it’s completely forgiveable if you go to the gym and elliptical those calories out of your sweat pores. They also have a really great shrimp cocktail. They used to put tequila in it… I wonder if someone complained?(Silly) However, if you ask for that version, they’ll accomodate :) at least my waiter did. I can’t complain about Rockfish. There are a lot of seafood chains out there that just don’t cut it, but Rockfish is consistent and satisfies my palate and fat cells: D

When I saw this place on Unilocal!it looked like a lively and popular spot. It was a few miles from my hotel but I drove around the block to find it. On arrival the car park was nearly empty. After all it was 9pm-ish. I started to walk in and saw the Grill pretty vacant. Not wanting to be the only diner I returned to my car and looked for another livelier spot. As I waited two guys pulled up and entered, so I followed. My flounder was pan-fried and served on s bed of rice and stuffed with crab. I ordered the healthy sides of asparagus and spinach which were nicely cooked, the spinach had a little butter dressing I think. The fish was over-salted, but not so much it was inedible. The waitress asked if everything was ok — she had a serious attitude so I skipped the chance to say«it’s way to salty…,» but if it was another waitress I would’ve said something. $ 13 for a relatively healthy dinner is not bad. The décor and theme is of a fishing/hunting lodge — wood trimming, memorabilia, chalkboards. Seating is in 3 areas: the bar, regular booths and then the raised booths against the wall. At the back is another fish area, I think it’s the kitchen which is kind of open.

Holy smokes for the price the food is incredible. You guys have no idea how lucky you are(how lucky WE are!) to have decent fish nearby for cheap! I went here last night for dinner — had blackened trout with some sides, 2 glasses of wine and it was TWENTYBUCKS. $ 20.89 to be precise. But that is utterly unheard of where I’m from. It was dead inside cause it was a Sunday night but WOW that’s so cheap it’s like it’s FREE! And it was EXCELLENT. The fish was amazing! Tender and flaky. Wonderful flavor from the blackened rub they put on there. The sides were great too — creamed corn and potato wedges. I had a side of some kinda spicy sauce for the fish and the only negative thing is it was too small because I want a giant bowl of that stuff!!! So good! «Happy Hour» is «All day Sunday» which is probably what kept the price down on the wine. But for my money — Sunday night if I want a good dinner — I am absolutely going here.

Had lunch at Rockfish today. Food quality consistent with my experiences at the Southlake location. Good, not great, and straightforward food. Won’t blow you away, but acceptable. Service was good and atmosphere is typical of local chains. Had the tuna tartare appetizer which was fair at best. The fish tacos were better. I substituted grilled tilapia for the fried fish.
