Came it to try it and the family liked it. It’s a small mom and pop place please you have to come and try it.

This place is a great place to go and get like a pig. The cinnamon pecans pancakes are fantastic and the eggs was cooked perfect. The people are really friendly. Unilocal didn’t let us down again. We will be back the next time we are in Irving. We both loved the place!

Good food, good service, old style diner. They had what I wanted prepared correctly, tasted good, served with a smile, promptly, … What more do you need? I’ll be back that’s for sure

Good standard diner and breakfast food. I love the eggs in a basket. My husband loves the chicken fried steak. The cinnamon pecan pancakes were one of my pregnancy cravings. Just sorry they are no longer open on Sundays. It’s just a cozy little Mom n Pop diner. No frills. The food is simple and speaks for itself.

What can you say about convienant and quick. We like Shortys in a pinch but usually take the time to go to Joe’s or some other place around town. They don’t serve hash browns with the breakfast but rather something out of the freezer and in a bag. The menu is a little confusing and to many choices for a breakfast and lunch place. We like the atmosphere and the home town feel but the food is just ok.

Service — 4 Star Food — 3 Star Time Warp — 4 Star This is the kind of place where a «regular» is a badge of distinction. After we walked in, I had to step back outside to realize I was in Irving, Texas and not some small Texas town like Cut N Shoot or Gun Barrel. This place is definitely a treat for those who like their breakfast and lunches served Old Style. They’re only open from 6 am to 2 pm, but they serve either lunch or breakfast menus the whole time. The usual suspects are on the menu’s. Don’t waste your breath asking for Fresh and Fruity or the like, but they do serve Belgian Waffles if they haven’t run out by the time you get there. Their pancakes are slightly unusual in flavor, but good nevertheless. We had the blueberry special and the pecan cinnamon pancakes. The platter had two slices of bacon a nice thin sausage patty(I like that) and pan fried potatoes(who doesn’t like that?) We didn’t eat off the lunch menu, but we did notice it featured Chicken Fried Steak, Hamburgers and BLT’s. There’s no loud music, here, just the lulling sounds of the regulars discussing their last golf round and what’s wrong with the country, the president and the Dallas Cowboys. It’s easy to relax inside this atmosphere, kind of like returning to an old familiar place you though was lost to time. Don’t let the run-down strip center where its located fool you. It’s an entrance to a time machine that will take you back to an easy going pace and place.

Good honest basic diner breakfast/lunch spot like your parents and grandparents used to flock to before work or lunchtime. Good working class customers, everyone seems to know each other, including the waitstaff. Super friendly and good honest food too. Breakfast is a hit with me: extensive menu from Shorty’s Specials. Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes or waffles, and enough syrup and butter to satisfy even the sweetest tooth. Other choices include Omlettes, open-faced omlettes, CFS and Eggs, Pork Chops and Eggs, Corned Beef Hash and Eggs. You can even go A La Carte and make up your own plate. The Pancakes and Waffles are made with an old-school Malted Flour, which gives them a very nice flavor on their own you could be tempted to skip the Maple Syrup. Eggs are cooked to perfection. Bacon is crisp and not burnt or dripping with grease. Sausage patties are extra thin and not overcooked. Recommended for real food junkies.
