I am sad to say, but do not buy anything here that you cannot order online. You cannot return anything here that is a special order.
Here’s the story. For our wedding ten of my colleagues decided to purchase a Waterford Crystal Lismore Decanter and and matching wine glasses. Since one my colleagues knew the owner, he ordered the items through her. After opening our gifts, we noticed that the packaging could not have been directly from Waterford, it was poorly packaged and there was a chip in the top insert. My husband and I thought it was possibly a regift or an eBay item. Why do I say this? Because we had already been given these exact items from my inlaws a year ago for our engagement party and we know how it’s supposed to be packaged. At that point it becomes awkward, what do you do with something you already have? What’s the polite thing to do? We talked about it and decided to ask our friends. They just said, «tell them the truth, you have one, either return it for the money or get a credit.» Which is exactly which we went to do. My friend said, «No problem, the owner is great, she’ll probably give you a credit to the store.»
We went to the store with the items and without saying who we were, she looked at the items in the bag and said, «That’s a final sale, it was a special order and I can’t take it back, no refunds or exchanges.» We looked at her dumbfounded. So I asked, «If you ordered it, can I see an invoice so I can get an idea of how much it’s worth?» She snipped back, «I don’t do that, I don’t tell you how much it was for because I got a special price. I can tell you what Waterford sells it for.» I said, «So you’re telling me that you can’t do anything and I’m stuck with two decanters.» She said, «No!» and then escorted us to the door. We weren’t rude, didn’t mention that it was defective, nothing. It wasn’t worth bringing up with my colleagues. I work with good people and feel that they have been screwed. We have purchased items from Waterford, they do not package the items the way this was packaged. So. if you’re buying a gift for someone, don’t go here. If you’re buying something for yourself, don’t go here.
