I am being very serious when I say I’ve just had the best ever facial with Laura. I’ve been through some health issues recently and felt the indulgence would help healing. After explaining some if this to Laura I gave her complete autonomy to do whatever she thought my skin needed and felt completely heard and understood. I actually fell asleep and awoke feeling restored, reenergized AND my skin is absolutely glowing.

This is a wonderful little one person salon in the Fall Creek Neighborhood. Laura is super friendly and managed to make me feel like a regular on my first visit. As I had a wedding coming up (and was new to the area), so I was a little lost on things like where to get my dress tailored, what Salons could handle large bridal parties and such. Laura was willing to take the time to give me suggestions from her years of experience in Ithaca! Needless to say all of her recommendations were right on.
But that’s just the extras — I have now had both my hair cut and waxing done with Laura (2 – 3 times each). The hair cuts were really good, and she’s great at taking practicality into the mix when cutting your hair. For example, I’m someone who likes to blow dry my hair only on occasion and then only do minimal styling. She took all of that into account and gave me a great haircut that could be worn naturally or with my novice level of styling (instead of giving me a really cute style that I could never hope to recreate on my own as I’ve often gotten before).
As for waxing, she manages to keep a constant stream of friendly chatting going through the whole process so that you don’t have time to think about the potential pain coming your way. As someone mentioned in a previous review — the perfect balance of professional and friendly while being very thorough!

410 Salon is a cozy slice of heaven in downtown Ithaca. I’ve been there twice: once for waxing and once for a facial.
The salon is in the owner’s house so has a very «home-​y» feel. It is a little small… the facial room in particular is compact, but you definitely will not notice it once she starts working on you! My wax (brows and bare bikini) were both the best I’ve ever had… and I’m a «brow diva!» PERFECTION.
The bare bikini did hurt, but in my experience, when I’ve had a wax that didn’t hurt much, it was because they didn’t get all the hair. All I can say is: She got all the hair! She spent at least 10 minutes poking, prodding, and tweezing strays and ingrowns. A bit painful, but very worth it in the end.
I scheduled a facial two weeks after my wax appointment. It was, by far, the best I’ve ever had. After, my skin looked better than it has in three years. The facial includes a FANTASTIC massage of the face and neck. I left feeling like I was in a dream state… so relaxed.
I’ve already scheduled my next appointment. Can’t wait!

I have been seeing Laura for my waxing and skin care needs since my Freshman year, when she was still running Stress Out downtown. I was heartbroken when they closed, but the I saw that Laura was going to be working out of her home. The set up is, well, a bit cozy and not as spacious as your average day spa, but it gets the job done. I love going to Laura because she is the perfect balance of professional and friendly… we often have personal conversations as she gently rips hair from my bikini line. She is a thorough waver, and her facials are like a taste of heaven with scalp massages and neck rubs to die for. It’s a bit out of the way to get to, but there’s free parking and the prices are reasonable. Highly recommended for all your skincare needs!
