Kilpatrick’s Publick House

I’ll start by saying I’ve read the reviews before posting my thoughts. We were a party of 3. On Saturday. Night. Showed up at 7. There was a 1 hour wait. We sat at bar had drinks and bar food, corned beef and cabbage spring rolls with horseradish dipping sauce. Excellent! Bartender was friendly and and helpful. Dinner was stressful. Didn’t know what the issue was but people were upset. Our meals were served well but they were clearly understaffed. Bangers and mashed very tasty and well prepared. But we had no cutlery. I wouldn’t kill the place on one tough night. Definitely will be back.

I really wanted Kilpatrick’s to be good but it wasn’t. Our server while very sweet didn’t even provide us with silverware. I ordered their sampler platter and was less than impressed. Some friends who were seated at another table were comped their whole meal because service was so bad. Very cool town but we picked the wrong place to eat.

Stayed at the Hilton for a work trip and they recommended Kilpatricks. Not your average hotel bar the staff was amazing. Mel was our server/​Manager, she was hilarious & kept us entertained all night! She introduced us to their special homemade cherry Jameson… which was so delicious! The food was very good too, especially the rueban. I will definitely come back!

I’ve had drinks here a couple times. This was my first time having dinner. The pulled pork was tender and yummy. The bar fries were everything I expected and more. The coleslaw was not very good. I’m glad I didn’t opt for it on my sandwich. I’m picky about coleslaw, some people might like it. Overall friendly staff as usual!

Service is horrible. Everyone acts surprised that tables are seated and need attention. Our food and drinks sat for 30+ min while our waitress con hostess walked around … Clearly not passing our table to a server We watched while 3 other tables received the same treatment Food was soggy and ok at best v

We came here for drinks and food, but they told us the kitchen closed at 11 and it was 10:50, so they wouldn’t serve us. Then we watched two other people come in and get served food, lol.

We went on a Saturday night at 7, it was not busy. We were sat at a table, then basically ignored for 15 minutes. We got our own menus, but no one came to get our drink order or to ask us if we wanted any thing.
The bar staff sat and watched us, but at no point directed any one over to our table.
After about 15 minutes, with no one taking any order from us, we left.
Sadly this is not our first time here, all but once we have had bad service.

Fish and chips, Irish chips, avocado salad, ratatouille, French onion soup, wraps — all good! Draft beer was cold and good– definitely worth a visit. Friendly attentive service

I will start by saying that I’ve been here before and the food was great… but that was also 5 years ago. The food was bland and lukewarm. The $ 7 appetizer consisted of 3 potato skins, aka 1.5 potatoes. I don’t even know if they seasoned the cabbage but the corned beef was tender and a little dry. It seemed like the menu was designed with the best intentions but the kitchen was on auto-​pilot. Service was extremely slow but the girl was new so I’m giving her a pass. Skip this place, especially when there’s so much more to do in Ithaca.

I’m going to start off by saying I’ve been here before and had a much better experience so I still do encourage you to check it out but my meal this time was just blah. The pulled pork was dry and the only flavoring was from the sauce on top, the mac and cheese was fine but nothing special and of course the fried onion rings were delicious. They didn’t have many of the things listed on the drink menu which was a disappointment and our waitress was very slow. However, again, I’ve been here in the past and it was much better so maybe just don’t get the garbage platter.

Awesome burgers and a great friendly atmosphere. The restaurant was really busy last night but the wait staff was attentive and friendly. They kept us informed of kitchen delays and gave prompt service. I would definitely recommend going. I will be a repeat customer and hope to get back soon.

I came by around 5:45pm on a Sunday night. Service was okay, the waiters were friendly but not that informed about the menu (the menu invites you to ask about 2 sauces for the wings; I did and the server didn’t know about either of them). We ordered a burger and the special of the night, a combo platter of sorts. The sides for both of them did not come with the plates until we asked for them and it took us about 1 hour between sitting down to receiving our entrees.
The food, beverages, and value was pretty good. The burger is really quite good, build your own with many available toppings and a good selection of sides. We ordered the Ithaca Apricot Wheat and a dark and stormy — the beer was pretty interesting and the dark and stormy was tasty, albeit light on the ginger beer.

Years back our daughter attended college near here and we visited for a quick lunch, Everything was so good that we hoped to come back someday. Well that day came. There is a parking ramp across the street that is free on weekends. So pleased that my favorite beer was on tap.(Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter). The restaurant is attached to a hotel. The Bar staff and wait staff were all friendly and knowledgeable. Really good selection of food to please anyone. With many Irish pub Favorites! The Shepard’s Pie and Wings were very good!

After reading the menu online, I was excited to try Kilpatricks. I ended up being very disappointed. We were greeted right away and given waters and ordered two beers. The water tasted like there was still soap in the glass and the beers had no carbonation to them at all, tasted very flat. We did send the beers back and they changed the keg and the next round was better, but I still believe that the CO2 levels were off. We ordered the brie platter appetizer and that was delicious. Our meals, rack of ribs and fried haddock were not as appealing. The ribs were a special that night and were very dry despite the generous portion of bbq sauce poured on top. The haddock sandwich had an inch layer of tartar sauce on the bun which made it very soggy and the fish was over fried and hard as a rock. The French fries were crispy and good though. The actual restaurant was clean and the service was friendly and attentive. Maybe we just ordered the wrong items on the menu but I thought fish and chips would be a good Irish choice, but I was wrong. I will continue to stop in for a pint of Guiness, but will eat elsewhere.

Went for another visit. Absolutely HORRIBLE! Ordered buffalo wings for an appetizer, 40 minutes later the server comes to our table and apologizes and offers is free drinks for the wait. Finally, the wings come out, but the kitchen forgot to make them «buffalo». 15 minutes later, dinner arrives. Again, HORRIBLE! Fish & Chips not fresh, and the potato pancake batty with London broil was shoe leather. The only thing edible on that plate was the side vegetables.

Pro: very nice attentive servers, moderate prices
Cons: everything else. Loud bad music, sticky pub tables. Bad greasy food that tasted like Chef Boyardee. Another reviewer claimed the food is similar to Ithaca Ale house– no.

We started off with the wings and flatbread which were decent.
Entrée:

And a few other entrees. They were all okay but I guess for Ithaca standards it was decent. The service was pretty slow, but they were friendly.

The booths have TVs, but hilariously we figured out that a few of the channels were video feeds of various security cameras placed throughout the restaurant. You can imagine that this makes for some pretty hilarious tipsy/​harmless pranks if you want to have some fun. The beer selection is decent and the bartenders are nice.
As far as their food goes, portions are huge but its kind of expensive for what you get. The quality of the food wasn’t so great. My fried calamari was bland/​under seasoned. The batter was heavy and the dressing on my salad was not very good. The only reason I would go here for dinner is if a friend was staying at the Hilton and he didn’t want to leave the building after an exhausting plane ride, otherwise I’d go elsewhere.
