You will find an awesome bottle of wine here, guaranteed. This doesn’t mean you have to pay 100 bucks for it either. Reasonable prices, excellent quality. This goes for all of their shops!

Another great wine shop at the beach. This location is a little bigger than their Avondale shop and has the same great selection. We stopped by to check out their selection of Burgundy. They had several great options, but we didn’t bring any home. A small group of people were gathered around the tasting station and the staff must have been quite busy because I didn’t notice one welcome us or ask us if we were trying to find anything specific. I’m sure the staff is just as friendly at this store, but I haven’t experienced that myself yet. The beach is definitely not missing out when it comes to places to pick up a bottle of wine(or two).

My friends and I heard about a free wine tasting on at the Jacksonville Beach W90, and I was excited to check it out. I don’t know much about wine(except that I like it) and I try to support small local businesses over national chains, so I was looking forward to trying new things and buying a bottle of something I liked. It has been a very long time since I’ve received such poor customer service, and I was ready to GO within 5 minutes of arriving. I am 27 with a valid Florida driver’s license, and the friends I was with are 23 and from out of state. Admittedly, we were casually dressed(meaning jeans, not sweats or tank tops). The owner/manager/oh-so-delightful host looked at our IDs and flatly said, «I’m sorry guys, but I can’t accept these. I’m not sure that you guys are actually over 21.» Okay, fair enough. Why not ask us for additional identification? One of my friends is an Army brat, and I bet she’s got some kind of military ID. I’m also positive that a few of us have work IDs that would at least show that we’re not college students but rather employed young professionals(the kind of people you WANT at a wine tasting, by the way). It wasn’t until my Florida ID got a fair amount of bending that the manager relented, though he continued to make awkward and suspicious cracks about our age throughout the evening.(Example: in response to us saying that we work in non-profits, «That’s why I would say too if I were underage at a wine-tasting.») If I were 21 or a fan of Justin Bieber tee-shirts, I would expect this kind of rude, skeptical treatment, but I’m well over 21 with every intention of spending money in places I enjoy. I’ll hang out with my friends in other places from now on and continue to buy my wine at Publix, where I get always get carded but never insulted.
