Yea this place is OK. It’s a diner with diner foods. It’s kind of like that TV show Alice with an Alice and a Flo. I really could see if Mel was in the back. The servers/waitresses just yelled stuff back and forth. When I walked in one of the young ladies behind the counter yelled hello and how are ya. She wondered over and handed me a menu then went back to whatever she was doing. She then yelled over and asked if I knew what I wanted and if I did just tell her. So I pondered it for a minute and yelled out. I want a mushroom and swiss omelet with fried potatoes and rye toast. She yelled back okie dokie and yelled it back to Mel. Mel didn’t yell back so i guess all was good. When my food came out it was your normal diner food. The big thing to me and I’m glad that they(or Mel) cooked my omelet and added the fillings to my omelet into the egg. Not cook the egg and then put on/in the fillings and fold the egg over. That way when you eat it all the fillings fall out and it like eating everything separate. So my omelet was good the potatoes were crispy to dry and my sweet tea needed more tea and less sweet. now this building has been many things in the past. It was a long standing diner and that closed after like forever. Then it went to a sandwich shop then a bbq joint and now Charlie/Mel is giving it a go.

Came in early to have breakfast before going to work. Very appealing décor, but that was about the only thing worthwhile about the place. The cheese omelet was edible. Grits were good. The rye toast was good as well. Outstanding coffee. Service wasn’t great, very slow and I felt more like a burden towards the server rather than a guest. I was hoping to find a steady place to have breakfast before work every day. This definitely is not that place.

I came in and try the place I have a Groupon staff is very nice small restaurant they’re only open for breakfast and lunch. I guess they specialize in ribs and BBQ so we’ll definitely have to come back and try that. me and my friend got the Breakfast. The portions were massive. She got a meat lovers omlet almost that was literally all meat. I got the French toast 6 slices next time I’ll get the half portion. The used real sausage patties the good bacon, and grits were just ok. The biscuits were on point light and fluffy. just me a nice local spot that I would definitely come back and try again

I have been here a few times and tried different things. The fare is typical breakfast and lunch food that you would expect from a diner along with a BBQ menu. Everything I have had here is really good and well prepared. They also have daily specials that are not on the menu. Prices are good and portions are big. If you are in the area its worth a try.

Have been to Charlie’s 3 times, twice for lunch and once for breakfast. Lunch was very good, recommend the bbq. Breakfast was great, big portions and served hot. Service has been excellent each visit, you can tell that it is run by a family with a passion for the business. Prices very reasonable.

Went here for the first time today. First thing I noticed was the JSO support sign out front. As a former dispatcher that warmed my heart because JSO is my family. It is a cute cozy little place with the friendliest staff! They knew some of the customers by name and their usual order. I felt like I was in Luke’s diner on Gilmore Girls. The food was awesome and definitely home cooked! Will be back there very soon for more!

Fabulous food and friendly staff. I have ordered breakfast and lunch and it didn’t matter, the food was perfect. Limited hours can make it a challenge, but very much worth the effort.

I should probably go back to this place another day and try it again… that being said… If you’re not like searching for this place off the highway you’d miss it. The décor when you first walk in is actually really cute and bright. You can tell that this is a place for the usual suspects who frequent… there wasn’t much of an introduction to what the diner is about or anything. I ordered pancakes and eggs. The eggs were I’m sorry… not good. It was like they slapped them on the oiled up grill and barely cooked them and then slopped them onto the plate. Maybe dry eggs are my personal preference? Food was ok… not amazing not bad. The most off putting thing in my opinion was the way the dining room seemed to be like one big conversation. A man who was I assume the chef? Was like half way sitting between two tables shooting the sh*t and talking loudly across the room. He even admitted that if someone wanted a certain type of dish they better wait for him to get back there to make it because the instructions don’t always translate… which isn’t a great vote of confidence for a newbie to the place. Like I said… maybe it just rubbed me the wrong way on the wrong day… it’ll take a lot to return.

Charlie’s Diner is open for breakfast and lunch only. I had stopped by once a little after two and someone was nice enough to come to my car to let me know they were closed. So, I wanted to go back and try it. As the name implies, it is a diner. Not quite divey. There is a jukebox and the checkerboard styling. I ended up ordering the turkey avocado wrap. It was delicious. It also had bacon, lettuce and tomato. It tasted very fresh. It was wrapped tight and did not fall apart. I ordered sliced tomato as a side(I am on a health kick) My main squeeze was with me and he got the shrimp po boy. I tried it and it was good. It was loaded with shrimp. He got the rice and beans as a side. Not bad at all! I will definitely go back for the wrap.

Small and friendly diner near the mall and Baymeadows. The food and service was alright. The meal was a little well cooked for my taste but was tasty. I would recommend if you want something different than a chain breakfast joint. It also has a drive through.

Great selection of wraps, burgers& salads! Friendly service and good portions. Vegetarians and meat eaters can enjoy. I had a wrap, substituted chicken for avocado — delicious. Breakfast menu looks great and warrants a return trip.
