It is a busy street corner. Foot traffic is unlimited. A terrific problem to have, right? Anyway, the inside is very busy-like even the amount of product available is seemingly endless. City Feed and Supply is a carrier of the Commonwealth Coffee Co RTD cold brew. It is a solid product and reminded me of the Stumptown cold brew version. I wanted to buy 3 or 4 bottles but there was only 1 bottle on the shelf on a Saturday morning. Sad. I did end up buying the lonely 1 plus a couple of cans of Blue Sky Cola.

City Feed is an exercise in compromise. They’re super convenient, but also pricier than you’d expect. The line’s often long, but the food’s always good. If you did all your grocery shopping here you’d be broke, but it’s perfect for getting a cup of coffee and a baked good. Look, you can’t really complain because you know they’re ethical-minded, locally-focused, and hey, they probably pay their employees a decent living wage, too. So pick up your delicious $ 10 sandwich, run into everyone you know, and stop complaining.

Yes, they are over priced. Yes, the wait for your order can be lengthy. And yes, you will freeze your ass off in the winter because they refuse to crank the heat but… The sandwiches are to die for. Period. And it’s hipster heaven. I can’t get enough of those dirty bearded guys. Go. Pretty sure you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve given this place several tries and have ordered a few sandwiches, but they never are very good. I’ve tried the tuna sandwich, which I thought was bland and too fishy. Today I tried the hummus sandwich. It was filled with peppers(my fault for not asking), so I opened the bread to remove them and the lettuce in the sandwich was brown, yum. I love onions, but putting too many raw onions in a sandwich really makes it taste yucky. The sandwiches are haphazardly put together and they take forverrrrr. The bread on the hummus sandwich was extremely thick, coming from somebody who has no self control around bread. I did however try a cool kombucha beverage, which tasted interesting at $ 5. Go for the cool, yet overpriced drinks.

Our sandwiches are always yummy(although overpriced) but the servers are never happy! Smile, it won’t kill you!

While there is good milk(in glass bottles) and decent cheese the veggies are sad and overall there is little choice. Also at the price they charge I expect gift wrap(a bow would be nice) or at least some good service.

(+) Good coffee and vegan baked goods. Friendly staff. Occasional wine tastings. Day-old bread for sale. (-) Overpriced groceries. Soymilk is at least $ 2 more expensive than elsewhere. No peanut butter for under $ 6. Sad and inconsistently-available produce. When I am extraordinarily lazy, I buy cat litter here, and beat myself up every time for how expensive it is. The pet section isn’t always stocked, either.

This is my favorite lunch place in JP. I love the Brie and apple sandwich. There’s also a good wine and beer selection

As far as sandwiches go this place is amazing! It is totally worth the $ 11 for a HUGE gluten free sandwich with avocado & Mozzarella. Biting into this was like heaven… the pesto and pickles created the perfect balance. I will be craving this until I have it again :) PS: they let you customize everything which I loved. –The market is cool too but a little too expensive although everything is local and they have a Kombucha dispenser that I absolutely love.

Really fresh ingredients in their sandwiches. Was skeptical because I’ve been known to be quite a picky eater but the smoked turkey sandwich really surprised me! It really makes me want to return to try the others and buy some more apples(which was so fresh!!!)

We only get sandwiches and coffee here. Both are above average. We have looked around for other items which appear random and expensive. Significant waits for sandwiches especially on weekends and I do mean extreme(20 – 30 min). Perhaps they would be less busy if they prepared their food more efficiently.

love this place and go here often, lots of vegan options and great grocery selections. The beverage«a kick in the face» is great if you are sick.

Came here for lunch for the first time on Saturday and was pleasantly surprised by their amazing supply of organic and healthy food options. They have a sandwich station that makes amazing sandwiches such as their Brie, Apple, and turkey or their Italian, which comes packed with veggies, peppers, and prosciutto. They have amazing flavored sparkling drinks called«rickies» that you must try! Just be warned there’s always a huge line so don’t come if you are in a hurry because you could wait for at least 20 minutes!

Great deli counter. It’s nice to have a small locally focused grocery in the neighborhood. Though some prices are higher. Back to the deli counter, a 10 – 15 minute wait is the usual, but 20−25+ is not uncommon at lunch time or holidays. Don’t come here in a hurry.

Wonderful food, great local, organic, and fresh products. I’m not in JP too often, but when I am, I make it a point to stop at this wonderful little grocery store/café.

I’ve only been here once, but I do plan on coming back. It’s a decent place but like many in JP, it is on the pricey side. I do like their promotion of local sustainability and small businesses – which impacts price. I get it, especially as I used to be a small business owner myself. The service was a bit lacking, but at least it was fairly quick. Mostly it seemed like the cashier taking my order was annoyed that my boyfriend and I were ordering together and that I was a bit overwhelmed with the big board of options that I’d never seen before and was trying to decipher and decide. Not sure how a bagel with cream cheese, tomato and onion cost so much even if it was locally sourced. So, will be sticking to their menu instead of my favored desires. I did like that they were open early and we could grab a nice breakfast together at our own pace. Would like to take a look around the store area when I’m a bit more awake and not being hustled through or given the side eye for not memorizing a menu item to order.

I ordered a vegetarian Cubano sandwich today and when I got home I took a bite and discovered they gave me the non-vegetarian version full of ham. I felt like throwing up. I called and the person who answered was very apologetic and empathetic. He offered me a refund and I told him that I’d rather just get what I originally ordered. I returned and when I got there attempted to find out what went wrong. The guy who handed me my sandwich was defensive and said that he didn’t have time to check on how the mistake was made and seemed bothered by my asking. I’m not sure what his role is at the store but I’m guessing he’s a manager because he said he would look into it. He seemed clueless about why I would be upset about getting a sandwich with meat in it when I ordered a vegetarian sandwich. No apologies from him and he made a big deal about giving me a «free sandwich» and I had to correct him and tell him that I PAID for that sandwich. This isn’t a small error. Some people cannot eat meat for religious reasons or because of moral beliefs or because it’s unhealthy. I choose to not eat meat for all kinds of reasons including that it tastes nasty, but I also DISDAIN pork. Bacon is the nastiness thing in the world to me. I am beyond disappointed and disgusted.

I’ve come in here a handful of times over the years but was appalled at the prices during my most recent visit. This place is extremely overpriced. I had the intention of just grabbing a few things to hold me over till I went grocery shopping but instead left with spending $ 9 on some bread and eggs. Note: neither item was organic or anything special. The produce(also expensive) never looks that great and beware most yogurts are usually expired. And as others have noted the people that work here do indeed have a snooty or superior attitude to them. I prefer Harvest down the street as they have a better selection and their produce always looks pretty good.

City Feed is my favorite sandwich shop in Jamaica Plain. The farmers lunch sandwich is a great grab if you’re on the go. The ½ grilled cheese + ½ soup combo is excellent for cold winter days. I love when they have beer tastings… always a unique variety! Great food + drinks, locally sourced groceries, fresh coffee and pastries. Worth the stop in if you’re strolling around JP. Pro tip: grab a sandwich to-go and head up to the Arboretum to eat it at St Peters hill! Awesome view of the Boston skyline.

Totally uninspiring sandwich — two measly slices of roast beef on a baguette. A few pieces of lettuce, no cheese, and some mayonnaise complete this pitiful excuse for a meal. After waiting for 15 minutes to order and then literally fighting for a place to seat, i highly recommend you not waste your money or your time here.
