This place was highly recommended to me by a fellow curator. It turned out to be a disappointment. Their service is terrible and they are extremely unreliable. If you are serious about your art(I certainly am) this place is not for you.

I got something framed from here about a year ago and even though the staff was friendly, the quality of the frame is very bad. It also took me three months to get my piece(it was supposed to take three weeks.) I understand they were backed up but seriously? I had to call them every other week asking if they’d gotten around to finishing my piece yet! Their custom wood frames(or at least the one I got) are not coated at all and therefore have no protection from regular handling. Quite frankly I’ve gotten better work done at AC Moore. If I’m paying top dollar I expect top quality. Do yourself a favor and bring your valued artwork to another gallery in Boston — I know I will.

I’ve gotten nothing but good work done here. I love that we get an artist’s discount if we’re bringing in our own photos or art, and even when I’m not sure what kind of frames I want I always get great suggestions(and they never make me feel like I’m an idiot or my taste is bad). I’ve also been able to get some scrap plexiglass from them, which can be hard to find in odd sizes elsewhere.

Jameson and Thompson rank among the best museum-quality framers in the area. Their prices reflect the quality, the craftsmanship and the innovative work that they do. They work for a number of major museums, deal with a wide range of words and materials and operate at the highest level. Time to completion varies with their work load(the person who complained about timing did not understand their backlog nor that they are technically and esthetically superb). One goes to them for archival framing for valued and possibly valuable pieces. They are not the ones to use for high school diplomas… and first-graders’ work for Dad’s desk!

I’m not going back. I brought in a small, unremarkable print to have framed and paid up front. They charge more than other places, but it was important to me to support local, quality artisans(I live in JP). They kept the work for OVERTWOMONTHS. We phoned them a number of times(«We’ll get to it next week…»). After two months, we asked for a refund and the print back so we could just go elsewhere. At that point, they finished the job within a few days. Frustrating that we didn’t receive any communication from them(like, we’re shortstaffed, we’re waiting on supplies, here’s a discount, thanks for your patience, we’re sorry, this is what’s happening, whatever… anything) during the two months and had to hound them to finish our project. The workers were nice enough, but it’s just not worth it.

What a great local business! I’ve never been to a frame shop that gave a 25% discount to artists who are framing their own artwork, so I thought this was pretty exciting. The shop is also pretty beautiful, mostly because of the huge windows and nice light it gets. Great resource for JP residents looking to have something professionally framed. It’s pretty common knowledge that getting professional framing done is spendy, but I think in the long run it looks so much nicer. The staff here are also great, very helpful with picking out frames and matting.

Jameson & Thompson does amazing work and only uses the highest quality materials. The fun and creative staff helped us choose mattings, frames and glass for two paintings we have and helped us choose the best way to mount a 5’x7’ tapestry that weighs 20 lbs by itself. Our friends who have seen their work are very impressed and realize why we spent the extra dollars to get the work done right.
