Hidden indeed! I’ve been twice and gotten my hair cut by 2 different people (sorry, I can’t remember their names). I’ll had great cuts with both of them and will happily go back to either. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and it’s easy to park. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because I wish they had other services. But on hair alone, I give them 5!

I thought it would be mission impossible when I wanted to get some last minute, affordable highlights in my neighborhood on a Saturday afternoon. BINGO, I called and they took me within an hour, I saw Pablo who is a seasonal hairdresser here because he lives in Florida. He did such a quick, fabulous job with my hair for $ 60! A partial foil in and out the door in under an hour! HE said when he is not available I should ask to see Rebecca, she sees his clients when he is out of town. I am now a loyal customer of this great little hidden gem.

I recently saw Rebecca for a sombre. She did everything i asked and more. She even took extra time to do more then i asked. If you ever need or want a specific look, this is your girl!

I recently got my hair done by Rebecca. She did a wonderful job. My hair needed a good cut and style, now it feels and looks amazing. I will be back again and I will definitely recommend her and this salon to people I know or looking for a great haircut and color. Thank you Rebecca!

I have been to numerous hair salons and usually leave frustrated and upset. But then I gave Hidden Hair Salon and shot and… I have to say Rebecca is by far the best colorist and styles I have ever been to. She is also great to chat with during my appointment. I highly recommend if you are reading this post book an appointment with Rebecca.

I moved from Philly 3 years ago. After trying two different salons (for color and cut) in Boston my first year, I gave up. They were both disastrous. I took bus, train, and plane to get back to Philly for my hair a few times a year. It obviously got expensive and tiresome. It just wasn’t realistic to continue. After reading the reviews and seeing pictures on Unilocal,I decided this would be my last attempt to find a salon in Boston. I was right. I won’t be going back to Philly for my hair anymore!
Rebecca is amazing. She really understands hair and color. It might sound silly to some, but she walked me through the bayalage and ombré process (I got a combination of both) and helped me understand exactly what she would be doing to my hair and why. Rebecca was super patient with my anxiety and took her time helping me figure out what I wanted before she began. She was so knowledgeable and friendly that I could tell this wasn’t just a job for her, but an art. I honestly could not be happier with my hair, and I’m only on my first session (which Rebecca also explained). I can’t wait to see the final results.
If you’re someone who is afraid of changing stylists, or have had terrible experiences with colorists who just didn’t know what they were doing or why they’re doing it, please see Rebecca! You won’t regret it.
Tips on finding the salon: This place really is hidden. You pull into a very tiny entrance and will see rancher-​style condo/​apartments lining the left side. Follow the long drive way all the way to the back. The building is tall, like a skyscraper condo complex. Go in the sliding doors and ask for the salon! Good luck!

This place was great! I just moved to JP and have been looking for a place to get a decent hair cut. I chose this place based on internet reviews alone. Ellen cut my hair, she is great. She listened to what I wanted and made some simple suggestions to get a great cut. She is very friendly and makes you feel comfortable right away. I am not a big chit-​chatter usually when I get my hair cut, but Ellen just made it feel natural. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because they don’t accept credit cards (it’s all cash), it was a little difficult to find (hence the name), and parking is limited (there is a parking lot, but it is guest parking for the whole building which is a condominium tower, I got the last, tiny spot). But I definitely found my hair stylist and plan to return!

For some reason the place only has $ sign. The cost of haircuts are $ 35 and up according to the receptionist I called. So Unilocal needs to be updated or something. Is $ 35 considered cheap?

I have to say that for me it’s hard to find a hairstylist that understands my hair. I do straighten my hair semi often, so that’s usually how my hair is cut. My hair is an odd combo of sorta wavy/​wavy/​curly naturally.
However, Rebecca gave me a great cut that is versatile enough for me to wear my hair straight or wavy! On top of that, she was so easy to talk to, and it was a pleasure to hang out in the salon with her. Plus, you can’t beat the prices!

I’m not entirely sure if deems an extra star, but I suppose an update or sorts is required. I did get contacted by the owner who left me several voice messages and eventually refunded me the money because I am so dissatisfied. No questions asked. I appreciate the reaching out.

I’m such a fan! I’ve been to 8 – 9 different hair salons in Boston, looking for a good place that can both cut and blow-​dry my curly hair well, and this one is definitely the best! If you just need a trim or light layering — this is definitely far more cost-​efficient than anything in Boston. Also, the hair stylist work with you to figure out what you should be doing on a daily basis based on how you like to keep it and how much time you’re willing to put in the mornings. So, so helpful! It is a little bit out of the way, but there is public transportation nearby, and free parking in front.

I’ve actually never been to a salon before, always did hair coloring myself and it’s never worked out great. I have very stubborn, dark Asian hair which NEVER holds color. Today I got Mercedes, who spent HOURS with my hair, bleaching, coloring and cutting so I came out with the haircut I envisioned and then some. The electric blue streak I asked for came out so bright!
Also everyone in the salon was so sweet and fun to talk to. Definitely coming back!

I’ll definitely be back. I made a same day appointment and got Mercedes, who was meticulous with washing, cutting, and blow drying– then making sure it was perfect by additional snips and more blow drying. She also put a moisturizing serum in my hair. I honestly didn’t think my hair could be this soft. I don’t know what shampoo and conditioner was used, by my hair feels luxurious!
My request was to take off 2 inches and all split ends, have a side part, and anything else that could help slim my round face. Mercedes was sweet, delivered exactly what I wanted, and answered all my questions about a semi-​perm dye job down the road.
I think we’ve all been scarred by a bad hair cut at some point or other, but The Hidden Hair Salon and Mercedes quelled my fears with this amazing cut. I’ve put off a hair cut for 10+ months and have been feeling ratchet indeed with my dry, split ends. But I walked out this afternoon feeling fresh and sexy!
The salon is on the first floor of a tower, and there’s free visitor parking in the lot. Just make sure you don’t part in Residence Permit Parking only– though those spaces are clearly marked.

I went to see Ellen at Hidden hair to touch up my brunette roots (I’m a blonde), and got what still stands almost a week later, as honest to goodness, the best haircut of my life. The dye job was quick, painless, precise, and brought my roots right up to match the color of my hair. I’m in the process of growing my hair out long, and had some nasty, frizzy, sad split ends going on. Ellen suggested, without being pushy, that chop them off so my hair could grow long and strong. I am SO glad I went with her advice. While losing an inch felt like a step back, the bounce, fullness, and health my hair has now as I continue my journey to the land of long, flowing locks was %100 worth it. So glad I found this place– I’ll definitely be back.

What a great salon! The best haircuts of my life — here. Rebecca is truly an artist; she gave me the best pixie cuts and now, the best angled bobs. While I was growing out my pixie, she trimmed what needed to be trimmed and kept me looking beautiful. I’ve not been disappointed. Been going to her for over a year now and I hope to for many more years to come. What a gem of a find!

I love this salon! I was crushed when my usual person moved away and I felt like I had no where to go. I’ve had really bad experiences with my hair so I’m always afraid to try new places. I found this salon through a friend and I have to say I can’t imagine going anywhere else. I’m from the South Shore and I will drive all the way to JP just to see Rebecca. She is amazing!!! She knows exactly what to do with my hair and even gave me suggestions to keep up with it between my appointments. I usually give her an idea of what I want and I just let her work her magic and I’m never disappointed. Color always comes out great and my hair is silky soft. They weren’t kidding when they said hidden! I drove by 3 times and finally I called the salon and stayed on the phone with them until I walked through the door. Definitely get down to this salon and see Rebecca you will feel like a million bucks (at least that’s how I feel when I leave).

Great salon! It was a little difficult to find — it really is «hidden» but once I found it, I was so glad! I found this place on Unilocal and was a little skeptical that it got such rave review, but it really was worth it. Rebecca did wonders for my hair. I have really thick hair but she pushed on through to blow dry it and flat iron it to perfection! I showed her a picture of what I wanted and every hair stylist says «well, I can’t get it to look like that exactly» but Rebecca totally did. It looks exactly the way I wanted it to. She’s also super friendly and sweet. Looking forward to going back!

THIS PLACE IS THE BEST but it is hidden to the max. It’s located in the first floor of a huge 30 fl. apartment complex. There is no evidence from the outside that there is a hair salon but there is, hence «Hidden.»
So, one day I decided to chop off nine inches of hair, but didn’t have a hair salon up here in Boston. Thanks to the lovely Unilocal reviews of this place, I gave Ellen at Hidden Hair a go. These reviews are spot on. Ellen was amazing, and understanding when I held my ponytail of just-​shorn hair for a second before letting it go. She gave me exactly what I wanted and what I didn’t know I needed. And just the right amount of friendly/​gossipy hairdresser-​customer banter.
And I couldn’t believe the price… for chopping off all of that hair and completely giving me a new style, plus wash/​blow dry was only $ 45. Hello? Affordable and excellent? JACKPOT. Also, Ellen doesn’t get much love on Unilocal,but I just wanted to give her a personal shout out, YOU MY GIRL.

The «hidden» part is no joke! The salon is located in an unassuming building but the service was top notch. I’m not a fancy person and I have a non-​fancy price range so finding a quality hair cut in Boston without making it rain is tough. However, the wash + cut + blow dry cost $ 40 total.
They were gracious enough to squeeze my friend and I in at the last minute and I was taken care of by Rebecca. She was thoughtful, gave suggestions and really listened to what I wanted. We chatted throughout the cut and she was truly pleasant despite being in a pinch for time. My friend received a great cut as well and we both left feeling totally satisfied.
Tip: make sure to bring cash or check because they don’t accept cards and the closest ATM is a 10 minute walk away.

These five stars are not hyperbole — Katie is the best.
If you have found this review, then you are reading a thread of people commenting on one of those things women (and men) everywhere hope for: the golden hidden tip. This is it. This is the one. This is the person in Boston you go to to get the most fantastic haircut, the one that is literally hidden from everyone else, the one that doesn’t proclaim itself with shiny ads or a storefront on Newbury Street. This is like when somehow someone tells you where the most amazing secret is and then you feel like you shouldn’t share the secret because it really is that good.
The thing with Katie is that she is funny and easy going but present and down to earth. She has an incredible sense of style, particularly regarding how hair frames a face, forms on the head, and when long, cascades and falls down towards the body. it wouldn’t be wrong to call her more of a fiber artist than a hair stylist, though she doesn’t have the pretension to say so herself. Think of her as a sculptor that relies on her skill with scissors rather than an overabundance of product. After going to her, your hair actually seems to thank you, because it has finally been treated for what it is at it’s best potential, rather than tamed into some stereotype that requires a certain hairdryer and shellac that you’ll never be able to repeat on your own.
For some reason, Katie firmly believes that haircuts should be extremely affordable. Hair color as well. So many people in Boston would take that as a sign of cheap quality or lack of skill, when what it really is is intense democracy — everyone deserves great hair. I’m sure that her prices also build loyalty, but don’t let them fool you — she is the best of the best. Thrust the difference into your tip if you feel like she is charging too little — I’m sure many of her customers couldn’t afford to go to higher end salons, and the world is genuinely a better (and kinder and more attractive) place for people like her doing what she does in an affordable way.
So yeah, I wrote a review earlier about Miss Laura’s Salon in JP, and Katie was actually one of their top cutters there. While I’m sure they are still good, I have to give her ***** and then a few hidden ***‘s that Unilocal doesn’t allow for to account for the excellence that this secret source provides.
And now I’ll have to start booking my cuts way more in advance.

She’s totally worth it.
