Vee Vee is a great little neighborhood restaurant in Jamaica Plain that offers some delicious fare in a pleasant, comfortable environment. Walking in for a 6:45 dinner on a Thurs. evening(no reservation), I was a little surprised to find it fairly quiet and empty. I was equally surprised when the place started filling up quickly afterwards so that practically all tables were occupied. Even with a packed room, the noise wasn’t overwhelming. The restaurant is warmly decorated and feels larger than it actually is. I ordered the Sangria w/Lime & Ginger on draft(just OK), the Bibb Lettuce salad with Poached Farm Egg w/Crispy Onions(a bit basic but quite good with great ingredients), and the Potato Gorditas(a delicious vegan option). My GF ordered the Manchego Potato Croquettes and a main course of Gnocchi in a Beef Ragu(both of which were quite tasty). The service was polite, helpful and efficient. Our apps were delivered very quickly. I wish the menu would have a few more items but for a restaurant this size it’s fine. This is a place that I would definitely try again. 3.75 stars(rounded up)

Absolute home run tonight by Vee Vee… Scallops and steak entrees were amazing! 5 star food at 3 star prices. Do yourself a favor and eat here. I have been here for brunch too and it was great!

So 1 month to go. If you are looking for a cozy V-Day resto, this one is a top pick! Was there at last year’s, in the middle of a snowstorm. Of course the place was booked. The resto is a bit ‘cozy’ dinning room size. My foodie friend and I, had no dates, so we decided to do a foodie review night. It was a great choice. We were luckily able to walk in and eat at the bar. While a bit small, the bar was still perfect place for dinner. Having the cool bartender at our disposal, wasn’t to shabby. It was a special v-day menu and our entrees were delish. The wine pairings for the meal were on the mark. While I ended with a decadent chocolate cake, my friend opted for the mix dessert platter. She loved it. Fun night, great place. Only -.5 star for being too small, cuz seriously it needs to host more ppl, clearly. 4.5 for a being a perfect non-valentine vday dinner in either case.

I love the warm, cozy atmosphere of the orange walls and plants. Great menu selection, fresh and very delicious food, worth the money if you want to go out for a date night and spend around $ 20 per entrée. Wonderful service. Definitely coming back for the next date night.

The best brunch spot in JP, hands down! The quality is consistently great all around. Love the veggie frittata(and the fact that it comes with potatoes, salad, AND a biscuit!), and they make great coffee. And this is a great option for a nice date night. Always a great selection of beers. Overall, Vee Vee is upscale but not snooty, with unpretentious and great-tasting food and good service.

Hello, Vee Vee. Where have you been all my life… This review is long overdue since my visit was back in June but the food and the wine were excellent. It was just a well thought out menu that was executed well and was simply the perfect dinner out. I will definitely be back but for me, it’s an issue of convenience and alas, it is not convenient but I can’t wait to see what their Fall/Winter menu has to offer.

So many amazing qualities in a tiny restaurant mere blocks from my house: 1. amazing food, both brunch(Sundays only) and dinner have excellent, fresh, inventive food; 2. drinks, they only serve beer and wine, but they have awesome sangria, Bantam cider, and a sake bloody mary for brunch; 3. it is next door to Salmagundi, so if you are waiting for brunch on Sunday just go there and try on hats, and you may even get a glass of champagne out of it; 4. the food bears another slot on this list, be sure to check out the daily specials which always are great.

Loved the intimate setting of this restaurant and the delectable, small menu. Recommend for date night for sure.

Cozy spot with a trendy menu featuring fantastic food with an excessive list of ingredients they use to justify the price. There are only a few selections on the menu, but all of them are quite good. I got the pollock which was good but not amazing, but my friends had the other entrees and they were wonderful. Vee Vee offers a terrific beer and wine selection which compliments its food quite well. Everything about this restaurant shows that people have put a lot of thought into it, and that creates a nice dining experience.

A favorite of ours in JP. Have been here many times for brunch and dinner, and the food is always good. One other draw for me is the draft beer selection — always interesting choices including many good, local brews. Typically delicious vegetarian/vegan options available. Very comfortable, laid-back atmosphere.

We went for the Tuesday night fried chicken special. I heard that it gets packed and the special goes fast, so my wife and I went straight after work and met there. Actually, she went home to shower first then walked to this place up the street from our house. She called in to VeeVee on her way from work and they said that all reservations were booked. I figured since I was getting there first that I would just walk in and see if they would seat me. Sure enough they did! They opened at 5:30pm and I got there at 5:40pm, and I was one of two people waiting for a partner. When my wife arrived we were treated with good wine and a pretty tasty entrée. The chicken special was good with the cheese biscuit and delicious corn on a cob. Typical price for what you would get in JP. We are low sodium folks, so naturally the salt on the chicken stood out for us, but I’m pretty sure that for any normal individual it would be perfectly fine. If I would recommend anything, it would be for it to included a much hardier vegetable on the side. To be fair, there was a small salad, but it was really small, so we felt it could have been bolstered with more greenery. Other than that, I’d recommend for others to at least try the special once, since I don’t know if you will get this anywhere else on this side of town.

Dear Vee Vee, You are a delight. This is what a neighborhood restaurant should be, and we love bringing our friends here in the hopes that you will help persuade them to move to JP. The atmosphere is great, the food is delicious, and the service is really friendly. Extra points for having interesting and delicious vegetarian entrees. Plus your online reservation system is super easy to use. Regina is watching, and just wonders if you ever thought about adding Saturday to your brunch schedule? Thanks, Regina

Fantastic, intimate venue with unique art and wall garden. The menu is small but mighty with excellent options for all palates, including vegetarian and vegan eaters. Wednesday night’s being a $ 26 three course vegan prix fixe that does not disappoint. The bites and appetizers are fantastic and perfectly portioned. The Castelvetrano olives & Bibb lettuce with poached farm egg are two of my favorites on the menu. If you aren’t offered bread, don’t be afraid to ask. The entrees are very good sized, so I would recommend taking some home to try one of their fantastic desserts. They once had a homemade ‘Whatchamacallit’ bar that I still drool after. The drink menu includes a solid beer list, wines by the bottle & glass, & funky alternative beverages(alcoholic & non). Overall, this is one of my favorite places with great service, lots of farm-to-table foods, & great local finds. Head in ASAP!

I can’t say enough good things about this place. We arrived around 12 or 1 on Sunday and we were seated almost immediately. Service was quick without feeling pressured to get out. The coffee was incredible. And the food was fabulous. My wife and I actually split the Huevos Maria. The flavours in there were spectacular. We just got a place nearby and are so excited that this is in the neighborhood. And I cannot believe what a difference it was to the breakfast the day before. That was the fairly well rated Forest Hills Diner. After paying the bill in both places, overall cost was comparable(though Vee Vee was more due to the tip). But the food was brought out in 1⁄3 the time. It was far better and we got far more value for the money. So if tempted by the diner down the road, spend 3 or 4 extra dollars and come to Vee Vee instead. Update a few months later: I have now been here 6 or 7 times. It is the most reliably fantastic restaurant I have ever been to. The two who run the place seem to always be there and I’ve never seen a restaurateur more eager to get to know their customers. Every place has its feeble days but I have never experienced anything but great service and wonderful food. And the fried chicken on Tuesdays is something worth changing your plans to go and get.

I took my vegan boyfriend here for his birthday since it fell on a Wednesday, and they do vegan Wednesdays fixed price menu. The food was totally amazing, and beautiful presented. The salad was greens, basil, pistachios, strawberries, and a light and yummy balsamic dressing — divine! The Gorditos main course had such a great mix of tastes — potato, avocado, beans, cabbage, lime, but the dish was lighter than regular(New England) Mexican food. The sorbet for dessert was phenomenal! My boyfriend seldom days sweets but loved this. Because it was his birthday, the chef sent out a special kumquat extra scoop with a candle for him. The raspberry and other citrus(tangerine maybe?) flavors were out of this world. Also atmosphere is great and the staff was lovely. Can’t wait to go back!

Vee Vee is a great concept, but is poorly executed and disorganized. It’s simply not worth the wait or disappointment in its current form. Despite the many negative reviews we had read regarding Vee Vee’s poor service, we decided to give them a try, hoping that the food quality that some reviewers described would make up for the apparent lack of attention to dining experience. They ended up «losing» our order, according to the server, and when it finally came out an hour later it was cold and bland. If a restaurant is going to completely drop the ball on their customers, the least they can do is make sure that the food hasn’t been sitting around and is fit to be served. There are many other dining choices around JP that haven’t lost their customer focus. You might get lucky and have a good experience at Vee Vee, but the chances aren’t good.

RUNTOTHISPLACE! There is RARELY a time when I got out and LOVE every single thing that I sink my teeth into. This place hits the mark. EVERYTHING was incredible on the food menu and the service was impeccable! The drinks not so much but that wouldn’t distract me from coming back one bit. I had the sangria, it was bad, it tastes like bad cold wine. Don’t get it. And now onto the best food! We started with the crispy mushrooms. Yes please! I could have eaten the entire bowl plus three other bowls. Perfectly coated and the sauce was good but not necessary because the mushrooms were so good. I tried a bite of the butternust squash and lentil soup and that was also very good. Main courses We each had something drifferent and I tried them all Pollack-perfectly coated, brissel sprouts had great flavor and beautifully presented Scallops-delicious. Perfelctly cooked and seasoned. The purée was deliocus Duck special-huge portion and the cherry port reduction was out of this work Potato somethings-tons of flavors-pop of cabbage, savory potato, and sauce all worked together so well Cous-cous-full of flavor and textures, rarely is there a vegetarian meal this good Additionally, we had a party of 5 and called to make a reservation because we knew it was fairly small. Earliest they had was 7:45pm. I wasn’t super excited about this but we decided to take it. At 6:40 they called and let me know the table would be leaving soon so we could get there earlier. Sweet! We arrived at 7:15 and had the best meal I had all weekend in Boston!

Had brunch here before wandering down to Jamaica pond for our kayaking fun filled summer day. The place was packed when we arrived, seated pretty quickly. The service was pretty bad for the fact that the waitress attended to the people who came later than us. The food was mediocre for a pricy brunch.

After exploring the Arboretum, we wandered into Vee Vee for a leisurely dinner before biking back to the heart of Boston. We loved the romantic and relaxed ambiance of Vee Vee and enjoyed the down-to-earth service. Unfortunately, I had to knock a star off because both of our entrees tasted incomplete. To drink we tried the beer sampler, which was delicious. We tried 4 beers that we’ve never had before(flavor profile wise) and for $ 10, it’s a steal. We got the Wellfleet oysters to start, which came with the most mind blowing homemade cocktail sauce and yuzu granita. Trust me, VeeVee has perfected every element of its cocktail sauce. I never taint an oyster with the generic cocktail sauce that’s usually served because it’s too overpowering. VeeVee’s is light and delivers just the right essence of tomato. The yuzu granita was fun to melt on your tongue and add an icy element to your oysters, but our favorite was still the cocktail sauce. Also, 6 oysters for $ 13 was another steal. His Potato-crusted Pollack was flavorful and tender but was served on a tomato sauce, rendering the potato crust soggy. A crispy crust, served on a bed of greens or grains would have bumped this dish up in the texture department. My Couscous(with pesto, olives, etc) was also 90% there. While it was good, it needed something to tie the flavors together. Perhaps it was the bland cheese shavings, which should have been bolder to complement the pesto.
