The only fun part of jury duty(aside from hearing people make up ridiculous excuses in an attempt to get out of it) is getting to explore some new restaurants. Headed to Bella’s for lunch after doing some Unilocal research. I passed on my usual go-to – tacos – in favor of the grilled chicken torta, since the tortas had such good reviews. And man, were those reviews well deserved. I don’t usually love grilled chicken, as it can often be dry or bland. Not the case here. The chicken was delicious, as was everything else on the monstrous sandwich: fresh avocado, lettuce, tomato, cheese, black beans, and hot peppers. So. Good. The man who took(and cooked) my order was fast and friendly, and gladly provided some salsa roja & salsa verde when I asked. Overall, awesome experience.

I had a beef burrito and chips with guacamole. Delicious and the price is reasonable under $ 10. The menu is decent and it is easy to look for what u really want. Bookmarked it!

Wanted some real Mexican food. We decided to go search on Unilocal and was delighted to find this spot. It was so great to have some real Mexican food compared to yummy taco/taco bell. The food at bellas has true authentic flavors and is the real deal and delicious. I’m so happy to have come across this establishment. I would most definitely buy food from here again.

oh man this place is my first foray into authentic mexican tacos/food and boy this did not disappoint. whenever I move into a new neighborhood I always try to scope out what fine establishments are around the vicinity, needless to say some places are absolute disasters and some places are absolute gems, this place is a gem. I’ve been here several times and order from here for delivery as well(which was prompt and effortless i might add). everytime I’ve come here the food was absolutely delicious and the service pleasant and extremely helpful. each and every single taco here is done extremely well, seasoned fantastically and topped off with the most bomb guacamole I’ve ever had, seriously I don’t know why establishments like chipotle even exist poisoning the general populations perception of how mexican food should taste. the horchata here is absolutely amazing! it had the perfect blend of cinnamin with other spices as well as a hint of chocolate. as for the platter dishes with rice and beans, they were pretty typical, come here after a long day at court for whatever reason, for the tacos, buritos, chimichangas tortas etc(My personal favorite is the al pastor meats though) and you WILLNOT be disappointed. I have found a new neighborhood go to establishment

Ok. Doing my civic duty gave me an opportunity to have a new experience. I had my first torta ever! Just looked up local places and this place popped up! Well they do not disappoint! My torta was grilled beef and chorizo! Hot damn! Crunchy lettuce creamy avocado and great grilled meat! Did not let me down for my first time. Plus a side of a green leafy vegetable that the man behind the counter likened to broccoli rabe! It was delicious. I needed hot sauce! If I serve all week, I will eat there everyday! !. Would have been 5 stars, but there was a little tough chewy piece of steak that broke my torta in half. But taste was great. See you tomorrow! !!!

This place is kind of the shit. I always get the various tacos, tortas, and tostadas. When they have them, the tamales are amazing, but sadly they don’t make them that often because I always ask and the answer is usually, sadly, «no tamales». I’ve never tried anything from the hot food bar they have, but most of the people I see in the restaurant are getting it and it always looks and smells delicious and fresh. I love watching them make the tortillas fresh and the service is always friendly. I look forward to Sunday’s because I work in this neighborhood and get to come here for lunch! There’s usually a bit of a wait because everything is fresh and the place is never empty, but it’s so worth it.

So not in the mood for the POPEYES that shines on the corner right out of the train station, decided to explore a little and discovered this place, walked in. There were seats available for dine in for 2 – 4 people and was pretty relaxed, probably due to the rainy weather. Ordered carne asada burrito, chicken taco and beef tongue taco. They were really nice and I watched the guy make it and was on my way! Chicken taco was very bland needing lime and extra hot sauce to save it. Beef tongue taco a little more seasoned but felt soggy? Usually I’ve eaten them pretty crisp so it was a weird texture. The burrito was better, carne asada seasoned well and decent size was able to split it. All came out to $ 11 as well. The Debbie downer for me was as I was leaving tucked in the corner was a Grade Pending. So maybe would return for a Mexican craving for an average burrito once they improve the grade.

I’ve been on this site for a couple of years and I’m finally writing my first review because I was THAT impressed by this place. I’m particularly picky about Mexican food and it’s hard to find a great one in NYC. This unassuming, adorable quaint restaurant specializes in authentic Mexican and Guatemalan cuisine. I’m slowly working my way through the menu and nothing disappoints. I’m absolutely addicted to their chicken tortas, the best tortas I’ve ever had period. And the workers there are so, so sweet and welcoming. If this place were closer to the city, I’m convinced they would be so much more expensive, only because of how difficult it is to come by delicious Mexican fare. I’m a little territorial about this place and am selfishly grateful that they’re not in the city. I promise you, you will not regret this experience.

The best Authentic Spanish food I’ve had in a while. My mom bought a chicken tamale– delicious, an empanada– delicious, stew chicken with rice black bean and potatoes salad– delicious and Mexican orange soda. EVERYTHING was delicious and tasty. The whole family enjoyed it. And our entire dinner only came up too about 17 dollars. This is our new spot for our Spanish food fix.

Went there with my friend to get some takeout. It wasn’t busy at all so we had to wait a while for everything to be made ready. We got a chicken quesadilla and a beef quesadilla. Both were relatively large portions and had okay prices. The smell of peanut oil wasn’t appetizing, but maybe that’s just a personal preference. The beef was tough and dry so I could not finish my quesadilla but my friend did say the chicken one was better.

So one block away from the court house i find this small Mexican restaurant. i go in and im greeted by a friendly woman. They place looks clean and there are chairs for you to sit and eat. I order a bistek a la mexicana & let me say it was one of the best dishes i have had in a long time. Once i took a bite, i felt was transported to mexico. And the music they played was a bonus, it wasn’t too loud or too low. it got you in the mood to stand up and dance. The service was excellent. they keep checking up if you need anything. Whether you are a Mexican or not, i would recommend you to go. you wont regret it.

Adequate cheap Mexican with friendly service in Jamaica… Defiantly not Jackson heights, corona or sunset park level Mexican… apparently they are serving both Guatemalan and Mexican food which might explain why… Second visit yesterday… had two tacos. beef and chicken… beef nicely seasoned and both slathered in a nice creamy guacamole… chicken very under seasoned and tasted like any diners grilled chicken. nothing Mexican about it… not enough cilantro or chopped onions with each… good amount of meat in each with two nice corn tortillas for each $ 2.50 taco… first visit I had Mexican tamale with chicken which was way too spicy and skimpy on the chicken and a chicken soup– which was very skimpy on meat content. And under seasoned… décor is your basic hole in the wall… things look clean and a few tables to sit… most staff do not speak English but there is one friendly man, he might be owner/manager who does speak English… Pickings in Jamaica are sparse for good Mexican… this unfortunately won’t satisfy your craving… take the subway to Jackson Heights… To be fair it may be that the ate the bomb for Guatemalan so I might try one more time a specific Guatemalan dish…

Cheap authentic and good Mexican food. Good food that doesn’t break the wallet is always good to me. Sorry that I didn’t try the food sooner.

One plus is there are tables and you can sit down to eat. Clean, brightly lit, orderly place. Very short walk from the courthouse. This is a very basic, ultra short menu place. For the location it is decent food. They cook the taco meat after you order, so this is not fast food. They offer homemade chicken soup that is quite excellent.

I was on a quest today for quick cheap eats near the Queens Civil courthouse and settled on Dominick’s Pizza. That didn’t go so well but as I left there, directly across the street my eye caught this little oasis with«Gran Apertura» flyers at the front door. Thier fare is a combo of Guatemalan and Mexican Cuisine. Queue — entrance! I was immediately greeted with not one but two attentive friendly counter attendants who took my order and invited me to sit at a comfy seat at a well lit table — not too bright or overly flourescent or cafeteria like. The menu fit my mood perfectly. I had two tasty tacos that were ready in a jiffy along with a Jarritos Tamarind soda. They had two spits that were not in use at the front so it looks like they were left over from whatever this used to be. They have Autentica comida Guatemalteca — including Pollo Asado, Sopa de Gallina, Adobado de Puerco, Pollo Campero and Carne Asada and then they have Autentica Comida Mexicana as well including Tamales, Quesadillas, Huevos a la Mexicana, Tortas, Burritos and Tacos as well as Arroz con leche and Aguas Frescas. They also serve breakfast 7 days from 8 – 11 am and they advertise free delivery. Ciao Bella and thanks for the tasty lunch. Day 10 — «May Challenge: What’s in a Name?!»
