Typical Chinese take out i order from when im to lazy to cook or go out. Compare to others this place is better. Hot and spicy fish is good. Employees are friendly and i give them 3.5 star.

Pretty decent Chinese food in this area. This place is super close to my apt and will definitely be my go-​to Chinese takeout restaurant. I came in and ordered takeout on a weekday afternoon. Food didn’t take too long but they had only 1 other delivery order in front of mine so I was a little confused why they waited to cook mine until the delivery order was complete.
They’re very generous with their portions and it’s worth the price (though still a bit steep). My 1 order was enough for 2 meals.

This is my favorite chinese takeout spot. I’ve been ordering from here since I moved to queens.

I don’t know why I’ve never reviewed this place sooner. Since I moved to this area around 2005, my family and I always get food from here. I judged chinese takeout by their General Tso Chicken and this one has won my heart ever since. It’s so tasty and the sauce is perfect. The other thing I like is Shrimp with Garlic Sauce.

Love this place it’s my Friday place! I always call in and food is ready in ten –fifteen min!

My go to Chinese place! You cannot go wrong with their sweet and sour chicken and it comes with an ample amount of sauce. The crab rangoons are a must with every order (especially when dipped in the sweet and sour sauce). Delivery is extremely fast and there is always more food than I can eat for what little I pay.

This restaurant is okay for the typical Chinese food fix I must admit. The food is pretty decent, however at times it seems that they slack on their dishes versus other days. Real reason I come here often is because its right by my job, LOL

Great sesame chicken. That’s all I get, but it’s delicious. Very nice lady who takes orders and they are very fast. Food cooked quickly and very large portions at inexpensive prices.

HORRIBLE! Dishonest people. It says on the menu that orders over $ 10 free soda (not with lunch special or soda); translated that means if you order outside of lunch special and you also order a soda and the price is over $ 10, you do not get the free soda!!!
Make sure you understand the deals before you order. Many people are ordering over $ 40 and if you don’t ask for the deals, you simply do not get it.
Also the food is bad.

I’m not sure where these negative reviews are coming from. I’ve tried a lot of Chinese restaurants in my life, and this one is up there among the best, especially for such a cheap place. It’s definitely the best in the area, better than King Yum, Annie Chan, New China Garden, etc.
The place itself has no ambiance. It’s just a hole-​in-​the-​wall, average-​looking Chinese take-​out place, like many you find around the boroughs. You’re not meant to sit down there with a date.
But they know what they’re doing when it comes to making the food. Everything is very well-​made. Some Chinese places leave the battered dishes more soggy, with food that seems more like it was microwaved, but these people take their time making good food. Everything is crispy, with dense sauce, the way it should be. You could easily take this food out of the plastic containers and serve it on a fancy plate for twice the price, and no one would complain.
The prices are great. Their General Tsao’s (my standard Chinese choice) combination platter, which always leaves me painfully full, is (currently) $ 7.25 and comes with an egg roll and fried rice. I always substitute with brown rice, which they never have a problem doing, at no extra cost.
Deliveries are free with a very low minimum ($ 8), and always arrive quickly. Orders over $ 10 also get a free drink, which I think is pretty cool.
The people are very nice. My only slight complaint might be with communication, especially over the phone. They understand me, but they have some pretty heavy accents over there :)

I have tried many Chinese take out restaurants in my life and I have gotta say this is the worst of the worst. I ordered the General Tso’s Chicken with pork fried rice lunch special for about $ 6.00 after tax. How can you mess that up??? The chicken was skimpy and really small pieces. Questionable chicken meat. The rice was bland and dry. The hot and sour soup was so gooey because of all the cornstarch they use. I have given this place a try and I will find other options from now on.
Maybe I should have stayed safe and ordered fried chicken and fried rice instead.

what’s with all the negative reviews? the food here is great. they don’t skimp out on the cheese wontons like the other chinese restaurants do. good and cheap food.

for some reason… the food is not as good as i mentioned before. the quality went down esp the soups. I ordered general tao’s chicken and it was not juicy. it was too hard (overfried)

Let us keep this in perspective: this is a review for a Chinese take-​out restaurant. You are not paying for high-​end cuisine, but large portions at a fair price.
If that’s the chief parameter we consider when reviewing Chinese take-​out restaurants then Chef’s Garden is successful. They have lunch and dinner combo specials that give you ample food at a reasonable cost — say $ 5-​$ 7 dollars — and your standard array of Chinese take-​out cuisine.
Personally, the teriyaki chicken appetizer is good, though I am a sucker for food on a stick. Yes, I like corn-​dogs a bunch.
Is it that distinguishable from other places? Most likely not. Is there much more to elaborate on? Not really. Regardless, my experience was positive and I am sure yours would be also.
Or you could just order from the myriad of other places in the greater Jamaica/​Fresh Meadows area.
