I came to this restaurant and their food tasted good the first time around, but the nasty attitude and always changing prices that they give to non Hispanics is enough to make you want to curse… My wife and I bought empanadas for $ 2.50 and she stopped there again for herself and paid $ 1.90 for each the same kind as the last… She brought up the fact to one of the workers there and was ignored… Totally disrespectful.

I must have passed by this place a million times and was finally able to have dinner here one night after a friend came up with the bright idea. The food is delicious! My boyfriend has eaten a lot of churassco in his lifetime and puts the steak he had here in his«Top 5». I don’t eat red meat so I had the mofongo with chicken and cheese which I absolutely loved. It was nicely seasoned and not too dry. The staff is pleasant but very sluggish around the restaurant. Our food came out fast but the check took a a very long time to come. Perhaps next time I will do a to-go order and enjoy the food in the comfort of my home.

Very disappointed walk in whit my family setting on table for service., waiter never show up on till I ask for some one to help us., finally some body come over my table afther waiting long time we got attended for Spanish waitress who not speak any English at all., way I am coming we this comment? Because next to us was a table of 3 black American peoples who are setting like they are the only ones on the entire restaurant from side to side., so my wife has to sit on the side of the table not to bother the next 3 peoples table. So the waitress come over my wife telling her that she can’t not sit that way because was on the walking way for every body., them I tell her so please tell the next table sit properly that way my wife can sit the right properly side on our table, them she say I am not going a tell anything to the next table!!! Way??? Because she not speak any English at all… Remember all this conversation was on Spanish whit the waitress’s my wife say I can’t take this embarrassing Situation only because she can’t tell the costumers the have to move up only because they are black American people So we walk out whit out dinner!!! To the owners of this restaurant take a time to thing about to who ever support your business you have to have employees can speak English other then Spanish of course on this Spanish-Dominican restaurant…

The food was good but the service was HORRIBLE! First, I ordered picodera without pork. Two minutes later, she brings it back with pork. Secondly, I ask for water and waited 5 min. Smh.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression. This saying may seem old-fashioned to some, but it’s never truer than in the restaurant business. As soon as I walked in, the noise level was extremely high. The music was so loud I couldn’t hear myself ordering my food. I ordered the churrassco(skirt steak) medium rare. I received it so over cooked that it was tougher than the ghetto. The beans were bland but the rice was good. The service however was terrible. My waitress sat down in the dining room and ate her food, spoke on her phone for what seemed like an eternity while I sat and waited and waited and waited for my check. Other customers waited s long time for menus. I got fed up and finally walked over to the cashier, stated what I ordered, just do I could finally leave. Needless to say, I won’t return. One star is way too high for this place.

Love their rice and beans, it’s very tasty. Their steak and onions are also pretty yummy and you definitely can’t complain about the prices!

Delicious spanish dominican food! They also have really cheap $ 6 bottled beers. The only thing that i didnt like is that, there are some old men that hang out at the bar staring at the young woman… The staff is also super nice…

So I hate giving bad reviews right off the bat and I decided to give this place another try. I had mofongo con chicharron and it was soooo good. I never knew this place was Dominican until I saw this on the menu. The last time I visited was around closing and the only thing available was chicken and that’s what made me sick. This mofongo was delicious, as was the stew gravy and green sauce which was included. For $ 6, this can’t be beat. I look forward to trying some of the other dishes I saw like carne guisada and ox tails. I can’t believe I’ve avoided this restaurant for so many years, I will be back!

Ok I’ve lived in this area all my life. I used to like the food at this place. But I ordered 2 lunch specials yesterday 1 chicken w/rice & beans & other of pernil w/rice & beans. They’ve really gone down on quality & quantity. I will not recommend it. I guess if your starving it’s ok. But I’m done wasting my money hear.

There are two levels to this place. The first floor is your average place. You get on line, pick your food out while somebody serves you, you pay and go sit down or take it to go. The second floor is a totally different atmosphere. It’s a sit down restaurant. I am a food service manager and my job everyday is to promote, train, and implement policies that ensure the highest levels of customer service and customer satisfaction, so whenever I eat out somewhere; I look for certain things. –Cleanliness. This place was spotless. The tables, floors, and even bathrooms were clean. –Customer Service. The staff were so friendly and attentive to us. And the girls are all GORGEOUS. Like the marrying type gorgeous… lol –Food Quality. By far the best Dominican food I’ve ever eaten. –Speed of service. As we ordered, our hostess informed us that everything was made fresh to order and to expect a 25 – 30 minute wait. Our meals came in 27 minutes. No complaints here. –Price. Prices were surprisingly low for the quality of food. –Atmospere. The lighting is low but not too low. I’d say comfortably low. The music was good but a little loud if you were wanting a more intimate setting but I was there with two co-workers so no complaints. Overall I give El Rey the highest rating I can because I am always very critical of the places I eat at. My expectaions were met and exceeded on all levels. I will be back and I will be suggesting this place to everybody I know.

Meh… several other better Spanish restaurants in the immediate area. They are skimpish with meat. Got take out from here twice… both times the ladies serving me dug through the tray looking for skimpy servings of meat with lots of bones. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice… that’s on me. Jennifer’s on parsons Blvd and hillside does the exact opposite. Better tasting food and so much of it. They really stuff those trays like they want you to come back.

There is virtually nothing worth eating right around this small area near the courthouses, but this is a decent spot frequented by some of the lawyers. I only ate there once but their chicken with rice was superior to some of the other nearby Spanish places so it gets my vote as the place to get a warm meal. The only drawback is that they were a touch slow bringing out the food.

Passed by this place for years without going in. Finally decided to get some food for mothers day from here. The food is great. I work with Dominicans that can vouch that this food is for real. The Sopa de Mondongo and Espagete were on point. My only issue in this place is the service. or lack of it I should say. I only go in to make orders for take out and I can literally stand in front of the register while employees walk by or talk between each other like I am not there. The only way I have been able to get food here is to actually call out to someone walking by and tell them I want to order now. Other than that, great food
