Popeyes Chicken

Good customer service, clean place, good food, no restroom so sad, and décor is ok. Finally, affordable.

I made a quick stop at this popeyes yesterday and totally regret it. I ordered the fish and popcorn shrimp with coleslaw for the side. First of all I witnessed the cook in the back cleaning a deep fryer right next to an active deep fryer. The thing was that he was using some kind of tool that included a dirty yellow hose attached to it. The hose was right next to the active deep fryer which made it possible for the dirt and crud on the yellow hose to fall into the active fryer. The warming tables were also dingy and dirty. I noticed all this long after I entered my order. I got my order and left. The shrimp was kind of off but I couldn’t really tell because of all the breading and spices. I counted six clumps of breading that didn’t contain any shrimp and two of those clumps weren’t fully cooked. I had to throw away the coleslaw because after the second spoonful it tasted off as well. The fish was the only thing that tasted ok though it had a really strong fish smell. I know fish should smell like fish but I’m not sure if that strong a scent. Anyway so I get home and start feeling itching. I thought I was getting bug bites. I even panicked thinking I may have bed bugs. I turned my bedroom upside down looking for evidence and thank goodness I found nothing. The thing is that I woke up this morning and I have redness and bumps all over my body and itching like crazy and hives ask over. I eat shrimp and fish regularly. I even eat sushi every Friday. So I know I am not allergic. I ate the same order at another popeyes over a week ago and I was fine. That order was actually really good and fresh. Didn’t even smell so fishy. This is the only thing I ate during the day that my wife did not eat and everything else I ate was part of my normal diet. Something in this restaurant made me really sick. Be very cautious eating here. I will never go here again. But I will frequent other popeyes restaurants. Their chicken is sooooo good. Too bad I can’t give this a minus star rating
