Sam Adams

Food is just average. Beers are ok.
Service is a bad joke (1 server for 18 tables!!!) exactly where you need it the most, at the terminal.
Captive audience skip the food here just drink at the bar.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant at JFK airport because I love Sam Adams beer! Getting slightly buzzed before getting on the plane always makes the flight go by so much quicker.
We ordered the loaded potato chips, which were basically potato chips topped with nacho fixings. Standard bar food that went very well with my beer sampler. My friend and I devoured the entire plate.
Unfortunately, the service was awful. The server had no idea how to multitask and was completely inefficient. It took forever for me to get my beers, and I was sitting at the bar, in front of the taps! Watching her work was painful.
Anyway, the sampler of beer did its trick. I didn’t even feel the plane take off.

I seem to find these Sam Adam’s bar restaurants whenever I travel. I think it’s cause the other airport options before the gate are all fast-​food joints…
Anyway, the menu here is surprising and refreshing. I had a croque monsieur (toasted ham and cheese sandwich for those of you who don’t speak Francais ;)) and an iced-​tea. That kept me quiet as my Virgin America flight was crazy delayed… what is up with Virgin America? LAX-​JFK 30 mins late; JFK-​LAX 1hr 30mins late…
