When I’m broke and have no other options, I resort to get cheap halal cart food. The quality is decent I guess but not something that is phenomenal. Also it seems like quite recently, there is less rice and chicken compared to the other carts. I recommend everyone getting authentic halal food from as cart food in general is terrible.

Bf ordered lamb over rice and it was not good. Food was cold even tho we just got it. Barely any lamb. Almost no flavor. Not recommended

This was recommended to me by a friend and I’m glad she did! You get a meal with large meat chunks(the lamb is the best!), rice, salad, AND a soda… all for $ 6! This place is comparable to the Halal Guys, but I still can’t put my finger as to which one wins for taste. I’ll definitely be back :)

Ehhh I was excited at first since i read the reviews and heard this place was good… it was a rainy day and no line … First time coming here and kinda went out of the way to stop here. I took the food and ate at home which was a 5 – 10 min drive… The food was not really hot and the white sauce was disappointing. The chicken was not bad but the rice was kinda hard and not what I expected…(and I have bought halal from 53rd and took a 45 min train ride home and it was still hot and yummy when I got home)…

Used to com here all the time! When I did my undergraduate at at johns and wait for hours on the line during lunch I remember this was the only halal cart on Sju but now there are 100s around the campus! But I feel like as competition grew the food for worse it lacked spices and really taste the chicken was so blend without the sauce it was inedible! Still the most popular cart in sju

I think this Halal Cart is way better than 53rd and 6th! It’s the same price($ 6) for chicken/lamb over rice but here they don’t mince the meat into a catfood like substance. Also, I think the portion sizes are bigger here too! Even though I was completely full after finishing my meal at 53rd and 6th, I was full even before I was able to finish my chicken/lamb over rice at St. John’s Halal Cart! Also, the guy that works in the cart is really nice and has amazing memory too! I went with 4 other people and he remembered what each of us ordered(photographic memory)! I feel blessed to have such a great halal cart near school :) Tip: Ask for white sauce and pita bread!

I’m obsessed with this food truck. Does anyone know if they go anywhere else or what time they are open to? I wish I could follow them on Facebook!

This is outside the Gym for St John’s University. It’s Great and CHEAP $ 6 for a lamb/chicken over rice. I usually order it with White, BBQ and a little hot sauce after I work out for my after work out protein. They are only usually here during school days and when the weather isn’t horrid. I’ve been going to him for the past 6 years. When it used to be $ 5 dollars. They also have other things like burgers now, but Why would I get burgers when the rice platter is so great! PLEASEDOVISITTHISCART!

This chicken & rice stand is probably the worst I have ever had. Go to Shah’s @ 169th and Hillside.

This place is awesome, I even like them more than the cart on 53rd. The cart is always right outside gate 4 at St. John’s and I think they leave round 5/5:30 or so. — Use the hot sauce at your discretion. You might burn your face off if you ask them for more than three lines of hot sauce. — Of course they have awesome white sauce. — They have combination and gyro platters available. — You can substitute the salad for pita bread. — If you don’t want the drink, they will only charge you .50 less. Just get the drink.

YES!!! The best food you could possibly get at St. John’s. You get such bang for your buck. for less than $ 6, you can get a chicken /rice platter and a drink and it is a humongous size and you will never feel hungry again afterwards. The two guys in the cart are really friendly and they remember who you are when you come back… and you will be coming back a lot! I’ve missed this place so much since I’ve graduated.

If you’re looking for tasty halal food this is the best place to go. One can have a great halal meal at an affordable price. The cart is clean, service is quick and the guy that runs it(Souheil) is nice and respectful. Very nice service indeed. Hope everyone enjoyed as much as I do ^_^

How lucky am I? I can walk from class straight to this amazing halal cart. Almost everyday after class, I walk down to «St.Johns Halal cart»(No they’re not owned by St. John’s) and pay $ 6 for a lamb on top of rice with white sauce and a drink. The portions are the size of my head. The two guys working the cart are the sweetest people in the world. They remember who you are and what you always order, and they truly appreciate you! I can’t help but smile when I see these guys! They only serve chicken and lamb over rice or in a gyro. That’s it! No hot dogs/burgers/pretzels, etc. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by the halal cart!

Thank you, halal cart, for introducing me to the world of Cart Food, without giving me Ecoli poisoning since I started using your services. For $ 5, you get enough chicken & rice with some shredded lettuce to feed a small village. Plus you get a drink, and they’ll add in some of the pita bread if you ask nicely without extra charges. ** $ 0.50 cheaper than the Queens College /Kissena Blvd competitor **
