We stayed over Memorial Day weekend… and I couldn’t recommend an inn more! Rusty and Lisa were warm and welcoming from the moment we entered. The inn was well-appointed, neat, and clean; the rooms were beautiful– each unique and comfortable. We were walking distance from everything in town as well as the ferry to Newport. I loved having coffee on the porch in the mornings… it was just lovely. I can’t wait to return! Thank you!

Stayed here over Labor Day Weekend and loved it. The owners, Lisa and Rusty, are very warm and welcoming. Although we weren’t able to make it in until late(2AM) the first night, the two of them made sure we would be able to find our room easily and left the light on for us. It is not a proper B&B in that there isn’t a full breakfast — they openly advertise this — but they do leave out baked goods, fruit and coffee that were great. Definitely more than we were expecting, delicious too. We stayed in the Captain’ Room and were really impressed. The website doesn’t completely show how good some of the views are. It has a few steps that lead to a reading area with a beautiful view of the port. The bathroom in the room was really nice. There were two sinks and everything was quite luxurious and new. The rest of the room was really pleasant, with all kinds of neat furniture, decorations and books. We wish we could have stayed longer because we didn’t have time to fully utilize the house. Downstairs had plenty of space and amenities that were great for getting air, on the patio and porch; and reading in the living room. Overall we were very happy with the Lionel Champlin Guest House. We are anxious to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

We visited from Canada for 3 nights early August 2013. It was the weekend of the big Newport Jazz festival, however they did not increase their price like other places. Location is impressively close to the harbour and shops. The house itself is very beautiful. It has several unique guest rooms located upstairs away from the common and private areas. The landlord(Rusty) was very polite and helpful. We were 2 people in the Blue Room. It is nicely decorated in a traditional way and has a private bathroom with modern fixtures. It is very comfortable, and was pleasant at all times without air conditioning. It is in a quiet area so we were able to keep windows open all night and enjoy the fresh air. The continental style breakfasts(coffee, pastry/bread and fruit) were just right to get us going for the day. There is a small fridge in a common area to put your drinks or small items. There are both indoor(screened sun room) and outdoor sitting areas to enjoy your drink at any time, including late evenings after a day out on the town. Parking was provided and there were no hidden costs. We hope to return here some day.

Pretty good inn located two blocks from the water and in the downtown area of Jamestown. I would stay here again. The owners have«BNB» in their e-mail address and are listed under the«bed and breakfast» category in local publications but this place is NOT a BnB. They do offer hot drinks, fruit and a baked dish each morning in the common area but if you want a full breakfast, do not book here. There are several restaurants and a deli nearby. The Slice of Heaven bakery/café two blocks away on the main avenue is perfect for breakfast. There appeared to be five rooms and an apartment unit and all are comfortable. The mood in the inn is laid back and the hosts are nice and very easy going. The common area is comfortable, the front porch is nice and the rooms are stuffed with books and old furniture. The beds and multiple choices of pillows were sufficient. My two complaints: the rooms are very bright in the mornings so it is very difficult to sleep in, which is a nice thing to do on vacation! For some reason, a few windows are left unshaded, which makes the shutters/shading on other windows almost useless. And the owners do not accept credit cards — it is cash or check only so if you come here, bring your checkbook or plenty of cash. The local ATMs fees are a form of usury.

I spent a long weekend, Thursday through Sunday June 2012, and I found the accomodations to be wonderful! The charm of a bed and breakfast/inn with a beautiful well appointed, modern and functional bathroom. Free wi-fi. Coffee and a baked good waiting downstairs bright and early. Spacious common areas, and a nice sitting porch. Walk to town and the harbor front. The owner’s are very nice and accomodating. I have been going to Jamestown all of my life and never knew of this place until now and I will be back! Thank you Rusty and Lisa!
