Reason for Travel: 2015 Fall Hiking Holiday Duration: Saturday-Monday(2nd weekend in October) Review: Let me start by saying I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but the grounds needed some attention. The service was over-the-top! 10 stars Booking Services: Found via internet, called for actual reservation. I spoke to a real American person – no pressing 1 for this and 2 for that. Prompt and extremely courteous, as well as informational! The – I assume – owner gave me better directions than google recommended. Also worth mentioning, when I reserved the site I didn’t have to give them a credit card #!! NOONE does this anymore. It was like I had stepped back in time with the genuine customer service. ***** Guest Services: Exceptional! Friendly. American. Christian! Check-In & check-out was no hassle. The staff was very knowledgable about the area attractions and even gave us maps and hiking information. ***** Security: Dimly-lit at night. No one lingering in park after hours. No creepy people walking in the streets. Small children were playing in the park while being supervised by adults. This is a plus if you’ve ever camped where kids & pets roam freely.(Quiet hours observed). ***** Campsite: Gravel tent pad. Very easy to set up our tent on Site 41, with the exception of the road condition! It was steep, close, &1 way! The site itself was medium in size, with a picnic table and an above the ground metal fire ring. Extremely clean! **** Bathhouse: Clean, easily accessible, and not very roomy. 1 male &1 female individual restroom with 2 unisex individual showers. Moderate water pressure. If you are expecting a nice hot shower, you will find it here. The water is VERY hot! The facility itself is painted cinderblock & really clean for a spot near a river. Wall dryer for drying your hands. *** The Park: Very close and as well kept as one may expect given the time of year. Many people bring their pets here. They do have a pet leash policy and welcome all breeds. The staff didn’t give me any grief when reserving a site with my 2 labs. They have a few cabins &RV sites-although, I didn’t take advantage of these, obviously(since I was in a tent!) They also have a ice & firewood for sale. The ice is $ 1.50/bag & the wood is delivered to your site for *donations*!! Wait WHAT? This is completely unheard of where I live! ***** Other Amenities: Large fenced-in pool with a slide, glider lounging area, & laundry facilities. Since I didn’t utilize these, I wi not review them. Overall, I LOVED this park! It is conveniently located close to «town» which is very touristy and busy, so that if you become too bored with camping, you can go grab dinner. The area is known for various trails & the Buffalo Nation River. So, get out & take a hike, bike, horse, or canoe ride. I will definitely return to camp here :)
