Ok first I hate to leave negative reviews, especially about a place I used to love to go to, but I went here yesterday and it has really went downhill. I was by myself and ordered a cheeseburger, mozzarella sticks and a «large»(not very big at all-24oz) RC Cola. It came to $ 10 for that little bit of food. This used to be a small step above fast food… and you paid a couple dollars more, but $ 10 for what I got was ridiculous. The cheeseburgers used to have a fresh off the grill feel and not a mass produced burger like you would get at McDonalds, but this was horrible. When I walked in there was a smell in the place that almost caused me to leave, but I decided to stick it out. I didnt check the prices and was surprised when he rang up my order to find it had went up a bit and $ 10 seemed excessive for 1 person for a fast food meal. But I paid it and waited for my food. It came very quickly and I ate the mozzarella sticks. They looked good and tasted ok, but they needed a little more cooking time. The cheese inside was almost cold in the middle and would come out in one big hunk. A little more time in the deep fryer would have fixed them. Then I unwrapped the cheeseburger. It was a tiny little cheap roll that you might buy at the Dollar Tree. Probably about the cheapest bun you can buy. The hamburger patty was THIN! About as thin as you can get. About the same thickness as a cheap slice of American cheese out of the pack. Speaking of which, the cheese was also about the cheapest cheese you can get it. It was a slice of «cheese food» processed cheese out of the 99 cent pack at the grocery store. Each of the 4 corners were hard and crumbled off. There were a very few onions, they were old and wet and finely chopped and looked like they had been stored for awhile. The tomatoe slice on there was the best part, it was fresh and good. I decided to eat it anyways, I swallowed maybe a 4th of it, if that, the burger tasted like the smell that was in the place. It tasted like it had been grilled on a grill that hadnt been cleaned in years. It was GROSS. The guy at the front(and doing the cooking) was so nice, I hated to complain because of that. But when I realized the burger was over $ 5 I just couldnt do it. So I took it back to him and told him it was not good at all. He offered to make me something else, but that thought was revolting. So instead of asking for money back I said a nice ice cream cone(they serve all kinds of flavors of Pet Ice cream) on a sugar cone would be fine and we could call it even. I mean ice cream is ice cream right? Well I couldnt even eat the ice cream. It tasted old and freezer burned. There were chunks of solid ice through out it. I dumped it out and ate the sugar cone(It was good! lol) Very disappointed with the whole thing. I could have went to Wendys and got a Junior cheeseburger Deluxe for $ 1.49 and it would have been BIGGER and actually tasted good. The Dairy House needs to clean the place and use better ingredients if they are going to charge over $ 5 for a burger. Wont be going back.
