Think of having lunch at your grandmother’s house where the cosy dining room is made even more inviting by the aroma of homemade soup and you know the food will feed your soul as well as your tummy. That is Café on Meigs only your grandmother couldn’t be there but a lady just as sweet and more importantly an incredible chef, Jeannie Dittmeir, will be serving up the best soup and sandwich in town. My favorite is the Benedictine with bacon chips on sourdough bread along with tomato basil soup you want never to end. There are plenty of choices and you won’t be disappointed. Homemade desserts are not to be missed(think decadent brownies.) I always leave feeling happy like when you leave Grandma’s.

This is a nice hidden gem in Jeff. We had a great Saturday lunch at Meigs and will hopefully make it a weekend tradition. Don’t even have to cross the bridge now for a great local place to eat.

The sandwich I had there was delicious! I can’t remember what was in the spread on the sandwich, some sort of parmesan something, but it was so delicious that I took the rest home and put it on another sandwich!!! I also love supporting local businesses! :)

I love this place for lunch! It’s convenient and delicious. The Jonesy’s Favorite is love, three cheese grilled cheese and tomato soup is amazing… The list goes on and on. The sides are light and refreshing. I recommend the broccoli salad, potato salad or pasta salad. As far as food goes these ladies have nailed it! Unfortunately service can be very slow, however they are always quick to apologize and it’s hard to be mad when the food is this good! I’m ready to edit this post at any moment and give them the full five but for now I can’t honestly do that until wait time is cut down. 20 minutes for a sandwich :/ Edit: After a few months hiatus from the café, I was happy to return to a great experience once again. The food was prompt and the owner was gracious as always!

Food is great, real hometown feel. Service can be a bit slow, but it is a real breast little local place. Highly recommend!

Love this little café and the lady who runs it! My family and I showed up at around 11:30 am and we were waited on immediately. A picky eater in our group wasn’t sure about ordering the tomato basil soup so she gladly brought him a small sample cup. He loved it – it was a great compliment to his triple grilled cheese :) I ordered the«Mama Mia!» which is a monstrous vegetarian sandwich. The veggies were very pretty, and looked straight from the market. I will definitely be returning!
