This place used to have great stock and even better staff. As of a couple months ago this place has nose dived. I’d rather go to shop rite than deal with wise asses at Hudson. Too bad for the good guys that used to work there.

I love this place. It’s super convenient to where I live and prices are reasonable for the location that it’s in. The guys are super friendly and selection is good. They have pretty much everything from wine to liquor to beer. Great place to stop and pick up if you are on your way to a BYOB dinner.

This place is awesome. They pack a lot in for such a small location. Prices are very reasonable. They send out a 15% off coupon in the snail mail packets once a month too. I’m more of a beer guy than a wine guy, and boy do they have a TON of great craft beers. However, it’s a little bit odd that they don’t have New Jersey Beer Company, which is Hudson County’s ONLY brewery(being that the name of this store is «Hudson» Vine after all). That being said, I won’t hold it against them. It’s a great store with great selection and great staff. It’s also open fairly late for its neighborhood.

They have an OK selection of wines. The leftmost row has European wines, mainly from France and Italy, which I’d say is the best part of their collection. Their selection of Spanish wines is quite limited, as well as wines from Australia(unless you like Yellowtail). They have a whole row of California wine, but most of it is either trophy wines from Stag’s Leap et al. or sub-$ 10 plonk; I didn’t find any that interested me, despite usually being a California wine drinker. On the rightmost wine rack they have whites, such as New Zealand sauvignon blanc and Burgundy. Then there are a few aisles of beer, including what seems like a decent variety of craft beers. Liquor is at the far left. I don’t drink beer or spirits outside of a bar so I wouldn’t be able to judge.

I’ll admit it, I wasn’t looking for anything highbrow here at Hudson Vine. All I wanted was an affordable bottle of cold, drinkable white wine that I could sneak swigs of while freeloading at a friend’s pool.* Hudson Vine had me covered. The friendly guy behind the counter somehow knew exactly what I was up to, and even offered a few cups to go with the bottle. Sure, it turned out that he only had one cup, but it’s the thought that counts.(Or, it would be, if my friends didn’t have communicable diseases that we now all share.) But seriously, the wine selection is pretty solid, the staff is cool, and they’ve even got a sizable selection already chilled. You could do a lot worse. _____________ *Actually, now that I think about it, that’s about as highbrow as I get.

Making a quick update today… Came in today looking specifically for organic wines, and the guys behind the counter were very helpful and nice. Granted the selection is small, but at least they were in one location, so I didn’t have to run down all the aisles looking for them like their local competitors. Anywho, that is all. Still love this place and I highly recommend it.

Hudson Vine is a small yet clean liquor store that specializes in wine. The selection is decent but still not up to par with other liquor stores in the area. My girlfriend loves Red Mascato but they did not sell it. I felt this was weird since Mascato is one of the most popular wines. I had to settle for a small White Mascato section which contained about 3 types. The beer selection is very minimal and that is not a way to win me over since I love beer. I do have to say this place is located in a great area for a quick pickup for wine, beer, or liquor.

Decent-large selection of beers, spirits, and wine. They deliver, which is nice, but I can never quite pin down their delivery hours. That being said, they’ve only ever refused once. The staff seems nice enough, but mostly bored and interested in completing the transaction rather than engaging you a customer. Then again, if I’m in there, I’m there to grab some booze and take it home quickly, not to chat it up. Prices are fair, and relatively on par with everything else in the area, so you won’t leave feeling cheated or unlucky. Really can’t say much else about it, except that it’s convenient for residents of Newport whose jaws aren’t ready for the slackening they’ll take at Buy Rite or whose feet don’t feel like wading through the masses at Shop Rite. Quick aside: why can’t they ever spell«Rite» right?

Ugh! Every time I call this place they aren’t making deliveries! If it’s after 6 I get told they only make deliveries before 6. Today, I called before six and STILL no deliveries. Really disappointing.
