I went here for a last minute blow-out and was very happy with the results. I’ll admit I wasn’t in the best of moods when I arrived(I was running very late for my evening plans and was slightly frazzled) and I was unsure of what to expect from a salon I had never been to. However, Luisa, my stylist, did a great blow out. and all of my friends complimented me on how great my hair looked. And, at $ 25, it was fairly priced. I would definitely go back to see Luisa the next time I need to get my hair blown out and its nice to know there’s a reasonably priced and conveniently located salon to go to.

I went for quick trim — I have a straight, pretty thin hair. I talked to my hairdresser, Ana, about how I am really picky how it gets cut; NO layers, just a trim, 1 – 2 inches. She brought me a book to look at, and I quickly said that, yes, you can leave a bit longer at front, as I put my hair behind my ears, and showed a picture on the cover. Then she proceeded to cut my hair. It didn’t take long, and then she asked if I want to blow dry. I said no, but she can do a bit so I do not walk out with a wet hair. She did a full blow dry, and at paying I was shocked at the cost — I expected a quick trim cost and it was a full hair cut cost. Since I washed my hair and her blow dry didn’t hold it together any longer, I hate my hair! It has layers, and it is sticking out from all over the place. The other side is longer(I guess due to her design) and it looks nasty and uneven. I think Ana doesn’t understand or speak English. I cannot believe how she butchered my hair. Now I am trying to talk to the manager, and they are avoiding responsibility. I strongly advice to avoid this salon!

If you ever seriously step foot in this place, be prepared to spend the next 6 weeks in your house, or covered in hats. ESPECIALLYIFYOUARE A GUY. First off, I’d already had a less than great experience here about a year ago, where the cut i got was nothing like i’d asked for. I decided to try the place again, but this time make sure I didn’t get the same girl. I walked up to the counter, and asked the girl if they had anyone currently on shift that cuts men’s hair that is similar to mine. for an idea of what my hair looks like normally, you can refer to my facebook:( ). She said they sure did and went to find me the lady. AFter 2 minutes I was in the chair and getting my cut. I can’t even explain the disaster she made of my head. first off nothing is even. secondly she gave me bizarre layers, when i have really wavvy hair. thirdly, she gave me the most bizzarre version of a female«bob» cut i’ve ever seen. I just returned from going to Great Clips in Bayonne to fix this nightmare cut. My mom actually said Giacomo’s gave me a retarded person cut. The lady at Great Clips couldn’t believe the job that was done on me. Avoid this place at all costs.

Jon Giacomo Hair Design is a step above those cheap chains like Super Cuts and Great Clips. The service is pretty good. Walk ins are always welcome, the place is huge, they do every service you could ever imagine from highlights to perms but it still has that factory line feel. I’ve been getting my hair cut here for years now. I’ve never had a bad cut from there and usually if I want to stick with the same stylist, they are there when I return a few months later. They always shampoo my hair which makes it feel really nice right before they cut it. It’s those extra steps that you’re not going to get at the cheapy chains. Granted, I end up paying about $ 30 here because my hair is on the longer side and they charge by length but it’s worth it. They never rush through and they always do what they’re told. It’s about time I pay them a visit. What do you think? Bangs this time?
