Terrible attitude from the cashiers, very disinterested in their work… I mean I know its not very interesting to take orders but at least have a neutral attitude about it. Burgers were subpar, spicy mcchicken wasnt even spicy and mcdouble looked like it was assembled by a 2 year old.

After a long day, I was hungry, but mainly craving french fries. Stopped at this location, ordered the fish combo and was in and out in less than 3 minutes. The fries were hot, fresh and perfectly salted. This is located in the mall so I imagine it can get pretty crowded. Please note, however, that it is on the 1st floor, and not in the food court. Enjoy!

McDonalds is a company that receives a lot of negative publicity. It’s often presented as one of the root causes for our nation to have become obsessed with fast food and responsible for our increasing waistlines. I’m not sure if this is all fairly deserved — after all there are a lot of fast food franchises out there and there are a lot of non fast food places that have calorie laden meals — but McDonald’s is the most successful. Anyhow, their menu has gotten better. More salads and items with fruit. And truth be told, if you look at the calorie count of the typical McDonald’s burger, it’s far below certain other establishments that for some reason are viewed more favorably, like the Shake Shack or Five Guys. In a down economy, it’s also a reliable go-to spot for those who can’t afford expensive dining out and for the elderly, with senior citizen discounts. So this brings me to the McDonald’s at Newport Mall, which is definitely one of the better ones I’ve been to. I typically get a Big Mac meal, which is reasonably priced at $ 5.99. The fries are fresh, thin and crisp. And the Big Mac is, well, a Big Mac. But it’s one of those Big Macs that actually looks like the ones presented in the photos. It is well assembled, and really tastes great. The place is quite clean, and the solarium like seating area is nice, although can get a bit warm when it’s sunny out. I don’t go to McD’s often, and quite honestly the one on Grove is much closer to me, but if I ever have the craving — this is my go to McDonald’s.

Hooray! This McDonalds has redeemed itself. I finally gave in and gave this place another shot, and I’m so glad I did. The workers were hardworking, the restaurant was clean, and the food was what I expected from a McD’s. Still no dollar menu but I can live with that. Now I have a go-to for breakfast, and I couldn’t be happier since I walk by everyday.
