I am always sad to write bad reviews but when a restaurant is not worthy of visiting we must speak up so that our UnilocalER friends know why they should not waste their time… This restaurant actually gets 1 star because the food presentation was good. Food: Chilaquiles– way too salty. Enchiladas– not enough flavor or spice. Guacamole– too blend. Salsas– not good but I ate them bc I was starving! Ambience: This place looks more like a mini market than a restaurant. I was not comfortable. I should have left as soon as I arrived. Service: one of the most terrible ones I have ever experienced. The waitress was upset because I asked for red salsa after she brought the green salsa and questioned me very abruptly of «why» I wanted red salsa also to eat with my chips and Guacamole if she had already brought me the spicy one(green). I explained to her that my friend did not eat too spicy and it would be nice to have the red for her to try a less spicy salsa. We felt very unwelcome and she seemed upset that my friend was not familiar with the menu and did not make the effort to explain the dishes. When I ordered my Chilaquiles verdes con queso(cheese) she kept asking why I did not want any chicken or beef on them… Why only cheese. She was extremely bothered! ENOUGHSAID!!! Do not waste your time here! Food looks nice but is not good. Service is TERRIBLE! TIP: cross the street and have a nice meal with good salsas and BETTERSERVICE at Los Tres Chilitos! :)

I ordered from here the first time today and it was delicious. Their homemade hot sauce was a perfect touch to my cheese enchiladas. They deliver 1.4 miles away and quickly. Noël, the manager of the restaurant gave me tips on saving money the next time around and was very accommodating. Not to mention they have Mexican coke which I absolutely love! Can’t wait to eat here again!

This review is purely based on the delivery and customer service because they didn’t answer the phone each of the five times I called and I’m sitting here over an hour and a half later without food

This is where I come to get my taco fix. The best guacamole ever. I never been disappointed here. Really good food.

I heard great things about food from Oaxaca Mexico, so I tried this little spot. The menu was just ok. I ordered spicy pork taco, guacamole and chips(extra $ for the chips). While waiting I happened to peer into the kitchen and the lady who took my order was scooping chips from a big container into a plastic takeout container with her bare hands. Ughhh! Why did I look at that moment!!! This was the first and only sign needed for me to know that my experience wouldn’t get better. I let it go rationalizing that«I don’t know what is done behind closed doors of any restaurant, so just let it go and pray that I don’t get sick.» I did. And when I got my food and started eating I was even more disappointed. I kept thinking«this is why I like to use my Amex because had I payed with my Amex instead of my debit I would have said no thank you and left as soon as I saw the lady’s hand in the chip barrel!» But I didn’t and now I end up with bland tasteless food. No taste, and no spice for spicy pork. Smh. Disappointed because I’m still hungry(I kindly discarded the rest of the food, chips and all) and I wasted money! I decided to do this quick write up because I was truly disturbed about the hands being used to scoop the chips after she handled my card transaction. I didn’t see her wash her hands and although I hope that I missed the moment that she did, I doubt she washed them which is a huge NONO. And the food was bland. I will not return.

As I’ve noted in many of my previous reviews, one of the downsides for me of living in Jersey City has been the lackluster Mexican cuisine available. Really the whole Latin American food scene is lacking, in my opinion. I’m honestly a bit surprised at the high reviews for Oaxaca. I just had it for the first time and was largely unimpressed. The guacamole tasted very bland and was not mixed together very well at all. It was essentially avocados chunks with cilantro and diced tomato sharing the same container. The chicken empanadas were alright and much larger than ones I’ve come across in my experience(I’ve seen calzones smaller that their empanadas), but I just thought they were overly spiced. The chilaquiles, my typical go to dish, was plentiful but nothing special. The texture was different but with this dish, I’ve realized that almost everyone, even people of the same culture, has their own interpretation. The employees seemed nice, although the woman on the phone did not understand a lot of our order and it has to be repeated quite often. When we first called, we asked for delivery and she said«wrong number» before eventually asking if we wanted delivery. The restaurant is the very definition of hole in the wall. I would also say that nearby restaurants such as Los Tres Chilitos is more worth your time.

What in the world just happened! This place just did me dirty! How are you going to make me choose between you and my favorite Mexican spot on Central. Talk about #FirstWorldProblems Okay, this hole in the wall is a gem all the way. Restaurant/Bodega with a tiny kitchen is definitely delivering BIG flavors! I came by for the first time tonight, how have I never been here before, is my question to myself. Anyway, I ordered the Cajun Chicken salad but the girl kept saying it comes with rice and beans. Un momento por favor, it’s under Salad options. that totally confused me but nonetheless they made it happen. Two words: GINORMOUSLYDELICIOUS! I’m always a fan of left overs so this is definitely dinner and lunch for tomorrow. The salad is simple: lettuce, tomatoes, onions, Mexican cheese, and some carrots. The chicken, man, the chicken makes that salad amazing! As if that wasn’t enough I order some guaca, now, it didn’t come with chips which is fine because I actually wanted to eat it with baby carrots, but what gives? Must I ask for the chips too? I will definitely have to see about that next time I hit this spot. Overall, awesome place and perhaps my new Mexican place to hit up when the craving hits.

This place is bomb. It’s right on Central and Congress. So if you live in Hoboken, take 9th St Light Rail elevator up the cliff and check it out. It’s a standard hood hole in the wall. The staff is sweet and attentive. The menu is expansive(the breakfast options looked legendary). We started off with Señor Guacamole. He was big and bold. Filled with cilantro and jalapeño and other deliciousness. Really good and really cheap for under $ 5. I got the chilaquiles with carna asada in verde sauce for my entrée. It was BOMB. The meat was cooked perfectly. The beans and rice were fresh. The chilaquiles were awesome(be warned, the verde sauce is MADSPICY).

If you’re looking for the spiciest Mexican food in #JerseyCity, look no further. Their green sauce(found in the enchiladas, chilaquiles and more) is friggin’ a spice factory and I like my grub spicy. It’s literally a hole in the wall. A few tables in a Mexican bodega; pretty sure it doesn’t get much more authentic than that. Be patient, staff knows limited English, but I got to pratiquar my espanol, so all good. The guac was full of cilantro, which I loved and for the $ 4.50 was a ginormous amount. The enchiladas were so spicy and a large portion; I could barely finish(read barely). It was good, not great. The chicken was a little dry(but plentiful) and again the spice! My guy’s chilaquiles with carne asada came with a heaping portion of thinly pounded meat atop a mound of smothered green sauce chips. It could have used more cheese/crema and the chips were a bit stale. That didn’t stop him from eating it right up. Good, but not the best. Price tag was cheap as hell. I’m a fan. I still heart taqueria. I still heart Los Tres Chillitos, and you know what? I heart this place too. All a little different, all a great local business. Overall, I think I’d give it a high 3.5, but in Unilocal life that means a 4! A few other things: Free chips and salsa — don’t fill up. The salsa they serve is weak sauce. This is also a bodega — so if you need some Mexican dry goods or products, you can find it here! THATGREENSAUCEISHOTASHELL!!!

Where do I start so much tasteful dishes everything is homemade an authentic as well but that green hot sauce is soo damn good on everything i tried so far. There Tamales is off the wall and spicy. The one thing I love is that the prices are great. It’s a must go plus nothing Better than eating healthy.

Tacos here are flavorful, and love their green sauce. Large portion size for the price, delivery is always prompt, and the food always gets to me still piping hot.

Eaten there twice. Wouldn’t recommend it with better places close by. I called for delivery on a rainy day. Woman didn’t speak english well, so she could not understand what my street address was. After the 6th time she made me repeat it, she put me on hold and a male took my order. I’ve eaten the chicken flautas and they were GROSS. They should be called mayo flautas, because that’s all you can taste. The gorditas had so much fat on the meat, it was inedible and I threw it away. So disappointing. The 3 stars are because I made a pick up order and had a really great sandwich with grilled meat, cheese, and avocado. Also the papaya bastida was really good. I would stop in again for one of those. Otherwise, I would not.

I didn’t eat here… I ate from their food cart. But if their Cuban sandwich is the same at both, then: DAMN. That thing was amazing… and $ 4…and it came with a bag of chips. How do you make something THAT good while in a food cart? The world may never know.
