Love this place and the cheese selection is awesome and now commercial at all. You have all the favors and the girl at the cheese bar is great for suggestions she knows what she’s doing. The whole staff is nice and prepared! Love going there.

We stopped in for dinner and a few drinks after checking out their menu online. It wasn’t packed which is always a welcome sight. We sat by the window and were waited on pretty much right away. I wish i would’ve got our waitress’s name. She was super friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We had deviled eggs, the meatballs with polenta, pork belly(served with a side of creamy slaw), and the spicy duck and gruyère cheese sandwich. Everything was very tasty. We decided to try another sandwich, and opted for the speck with fig jam and arugula(i forgot what cheese, but i think manchego.) It was very good too. The drinks are all well prepared and delicious. After having the mezcal drink on their menu, we asked our waitress if they had any other mezcal drinks. She had the bartender whip something up and it was delicious. This is a place we will be back to for sure. Next time i’m ordering a croque madame. Stop in and ENJOY!!!

This is probably our favorite restaurant in Jersey City. It has everything: Great wine, excellent cocktails and a stellar food menu. But best of all — CHEESE. Jamie Mayne puts together a really mean cheese board, definitely not to be missed. We usually start with that just to make sure that we are not too full. She is great too — enthusiastic about her selections, really great to chat to. We are absolutely thrilled about this establishment. There is no downside at all — great seating options — bar or tables. Great atmosphere. On Monday nights sometimes there is classical guitar which is amazing. This is the kind of place that you definitely want to see succeed. Kudos to everyone at Third and Vine and thank you so much for bringing your genius to Jersey City!

Third & Vine is one of my favorite places to go out to dinner in Jersey City! The best approach at this place is to go for a meat and cheese plate. There are at least twenty different cheeses you can choose from and about five different meats. Each meat and cheese is about $ 5, and usually about 4 cheeses and 1 meat is sufficient to satisfy a party of two. Each cheese will be paired with some sort of spread, fruit, nut, or another type of condiment. If you are not in the mood for a cheese plate, there are also salad and sandwich options. I’ve been here at least 4 times and have tried many different cheeses and have not been disappointed once! The drink menu is also extensive-many types of wines and a variety of unique cocktails. The wait staff is very knowledgeable and will make good recommendations if needed. The atmosphere is trendy– a great place for a date!

Amazing flavors packed into small plate tapas. Servers are attentive and offer great advice on food and drink choices. Hip mixed crowd with great energy. Nice date spot.

Definitely go for the cocktails not the food. I prefer to sit at the bar with some friends. Great spot for people watching on Saturday night.

Third & Vine is one of those places that you can never get tired of. The kind of place that maybe makes you feel more sophisticated than you really are or try to be. Either way I am definitely a fan. I came here on a early Sunday evening for a date night with my boyfriend and we really enjoyed ourselves. There was no one else in the place but that was better for us because I don’t know that much about cheese. We ended up with two types of Gouda(one smoked the other not) and a brie with an apple compote on the side. Then the bartender paired our wine choices to compliment the cheese we picked. If we only came in for the food our bill would’ve been a lot less but a $ 16 glass of wine was well worth it and I can’t wait to come back

This place was recommended to me by another bartender in the area and I think that says a lot about the place. We had excellent cocktails including the«Honey n Nuts» and«Agaves Gone Wild» which are both delicious. Be sure to grab some cheese and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. The vibe was chill but warm for a Sunday and the music choice created a great ambience. Topped with excellent service from friendly bartenders and what more do you really need from a neighborhood bar? So happy to find this place and will be back.

Great spot for catching up with friends or going on a date and sharing plates. I’ve been a few times and have had great experiences every time. On my most recent visit, I tried the autumnal salad and all I can say is yum. Roasted brussels sprouts definitely belong in a salad. The cheese is always the standout too, with delicious pairings. The service has always been friendly and attentive. This is a little off the beaten path down Newark Ave but it’s well worth the walk.

One of those no sign a hole in the wall kind of place. Great vibes, great wine, great cheese and salami, and amazing bartender who’s willing to tell you so much about the neighborhoods, in and out. Perfect for friends catching up.

I thoroughly enjoyed the food here. I thought the flavor, presentation, and combinations were great. Very fresh and well prepared. The service was also great. The downside was that for small sizes the price is rather high. I would also like to see more vegan friendly options here. They have an extensive drink menu as well, which I would be interested in trying during another visit. The music was fun and I liked the atmosphere. You could either sit at the bar or at some shared tables along the wall.

I feel compelled to update my review from 7 months back because Third & Vine has continually impressed me. Their food is consistently delicious and their wine, beer and mixed drinks are fantastic. Now that I’ve been here well over a dozen times, here’s a list of my absolute favorites: –meatballs with polenta are incredible –the beet and Mediterranean salads are the only salads that I actually get cravings for –spicy duck and paisan sandwiches are cheesy, meaty goodness between perfectly crunchy bread –ice cream is made on site! delicious! –cheese selection is great and come with excellent pairings. I’ve gotten everything from carrot purée with pink peppercorns to Nutella pairings. always a harmonious match to the flavor of the cheese –agaves gone wild cocktail is like the best spicy margarita that ever existed Okay, so basically everything is my favorite here. Don’t think, just go here!

I remeber going to this place when it originally opened and wasn’t such a hipster go-to. Its definitely a hidden jem in the downtown area of Jersey City, located right off Newark Ave. The atmosphere is relaxed but can get crowded and loud in the evening. The cheese display is one that will make you gain weight just looking at it! When you sit and start reviewing the menu, a certain cheese expert will come by and give you the 411. The same goes for the wine but they kinda leave it up to you to try. Hell they want you to have as much as you want, get drunk should be there motto. Although I wish sometimes I’ve gone they were more strict on the time groups of people take at the limited tables and bar stools there are in the place. Other than the cheese and wine pairings, that’s it. The prices for everything seem ridiculous but then again so does a lot of places downtown for what you get. There trying to hard to be a Brooklyn swank joint. Plus they have weird hours, especially when you are thinking about day drinking on a Saturday and this place doesn’t open until 4 or 5pm?! I’d go again but it would have to be early and quick.

Another update: — the cocktails have consistently been the best I’ve had ANYWHERE(yes, anywhere– I can think of maybe one comparable bar and it is in Texas). Everything is very well thought out and well balanced. And they change their menu somewhat regularly to highlight different spirits — the food is quite good and the prices are awesome. I do wish they had more options at times but everything I’ve tried has been pretty good. And the things I didn’t like in the past seem to have improved– always a plus — awesome service, great atmosphere, and friendly bartenders and owners I am a huge fan of Third & Vine– probably my favorite place in JC.

Great little restaurant! I am not a huge cheese lover and am very selective but I was impressed. We tried a few and the cheeses were all great — excellent texture. I even enjoyed the stinkier cheese. Not the blue though, I have limits! The Parmesan Panna Cotta was awesome. Also had a classic deviled egg — yum and the spicy duck sandwich — also yum! Loved the ambiance. Enjoyed the Hop Lips IPA! Great service — thanks Christina, you rock :) Highly recommend.

My taste buds are dancing with glee. You walk by restaurant and miss it as there are no big neon signs and flashing arrows pointing to the entrance luring people to enter. SWAG. Word of mouth alone(and Unilocal reviews of course) keeps this place bustling. I’ve been here twice so far, once with just hubby and baby(stroller friendly), and once with another couple. Both experiences have been consistent in service and food quality. My favorite dish is the deviled eggs, no wait, the foie gras, no. the meatballs. or was it the Paisan hot cheese sandwich. It doesn’t matter what you order because everything taste amazing. Growing up in Beijing and only familiar with the style of eating where you have 2 dishes(meat and veggies) with rice, the idea of a chunk of cheese with a slab of jam and some bread is perplexing to any Asian, I can hear my parents laughing, but I need to bring them here to prove that a stinker cheese paired with Nutella and chocolate is heavenly, especially chased with a smooth glass of riesling. Price: Depending on what you order, you can spend under 10 dollars each(for a sandwich which is quite filling) or $ 50 a person(which happened to us). Bottom line: Bring everyone here. No one will be disappointed. If you don’t know what to order(like me), don’t worry, the waiters will help you and won’t judge you.

I’m updating my review to five stars for a few reasons: 1– That cheese tho. So good, and the accompaniments are spot on every time. At $ 5 a cheese this is also the cheapest fanciest meal in Jersey City. 2– dem cocktails. $ 12 and strong with truly unique ingredients. Third and vine is the best place for a cocktail in this town, hands down. Agaves gone wild. Their old fashion. Pear salad days. The conquistador. Their dark and stormy even crushes it. Sit at the bar and your guaranteed to get a taste of whatever their working on now. I’d class their cocktails and ingredients in the same category as only 2 places I’ve been to in the city, and 1 place in brooklyn. The wine list is phenomenal as well, but a little pricy. 3– vibe. They always have something great on the TV, and I’m not a fan of tvs in restaurants. Also they are very welcoming and create a very chill vibe, in a spot that could easily lend itself to pretension.

I HEART first impressions that make me want to come back for more! Third & Vine… what a classy little spot, filled with an eclectic selection of wine, beers, and cocktails. I stopped by on a Friday night and I know I’m late on discovering this place because it was packed. I couldn’t find a table or a seat at the bar, but who cares. The bartender still noticed my friend & I and handed us menus. The wines vary in prices but I was eyeing the Sweet ones($ 6-$ 8). The Moscatel wine was delicious. I took a sip of one of the Dry wines and it was too strong for my taste. But my dear friend enjoyed it. One of the employees noticed my friend and I standing and told us she would keep an eye out for 2 empty seats and she did just did that. We made our way to their high tables and decided we would try a few items: Smoked duck breast($ 5), the Mac & Cheese($ 9), Beet Salad($ 7), and for dessert the homemade vanilla ice cream with chocolate! Everything I tried was solid. Next time I’ll try the famous meatballs and the pork belly! We switched it up and tried one of their cocktails(All $ 12) I had the Sineca Shea and my friend had the Some Kind of Salad drink. Both drinks were good but I would stick to the wine here. The two servers that helped us out and the bartender are 5 star babes. So nice and attentive throughout the entire night. Good vibes at Third & Vine. I will def visit more frequently! #JC #JCEats

The good thing about small plates is that you can easily share them. The good thing about small plates is that you can easily NOT share them. Third and Vine is in my rotation of my favorite Jersey City restaurants. Everything is solid on their menu, but my favorite dishes are: — Truffle Egg Toast: I can’t think of a better combination than egg, manchego, pancetta, and truffle… bust the egg and go to town! — Mac and Cheese: gooey cheese, texture with a crunchy Parmesan topping, and the perfect pasta(cavatappi) for mac and cheese — Fall or Winter Salad: I love every component of this salad: roasted squash, pickled brussel sprouts, crunchy pepitas, sapore del piave(tastes like Parmesan Reggiano), and perfectly dressed greens. Their cheese menu is constantly changing, but let them know your preferences and they won’t disappoint(the accompaniments are well thought out and perfect compliments). If you’re still hungry, order some meatballs or deviled eggs.

I live right around the corner and can’t believe it’s taken me 7 months to make my way over here. We stopped in for a late Saturday night dinner around 11pm. Despite the crowd, we were able to get seated front and center at the bar right away. Ambiance is pretty sweet – communal seating surrounding the bar area; dim lights, lots of candles yet a homey feel. They were playing a weird horror movie on the tv, but I’ll let that slide for this review. We were greeted at the bar by whom I assume is the owner of the restaurant. When ordering our drinks, he asked what I was in the mood for(dry and light) and recommended the mayolet. It was perfection. My husband ordered the old fashioned and was quite content. We went in on the small plates and ordered: — truffled deviled eggs — stuffed peppers — third and vine pâté — jamon bocadillo — beef, pork and ricotta meatballs I think the only tragedy about our meal was that we ordered only one plate of the stuffed peppers. This was my favorite dish of the night. Perfect blend of spicy and savory. I didn’t get to try the deviled egg but my husband loved it. I enjoyed the pâté. It was so rich and creamy, I got so into it that I forgot to put the onion marmalade on my crostini. The jamon bocadillo reminded me of dishes I had in Barcelona. It was delicious. The fig is a nice touch. The meatballs were good. I don’t think the palenta was even necessary for plating. The meatballs from Roman Nose are still my favorite in JC but these were a close second. Unfortunately, they were all out of maple bacon cheesecake which we were dying to try. Serves us right for having such a late dinner. I went with the owner’s recommendation of trying the poached pears with honey vanilla mascarpone and red wine syrup and my husband had the blue cheese crème brûlée and spiced apple compote. At first bite, I wasn’t a fan of the poached pear. The red wine syrup reduction made it way too bitter for me. But once I spread the honey vanilla mascarpone through the dish, it was like having a completely different dessert. It added the perfect amount of sweetness and flavor to balance it out. I could eat the mascarpone alone it was sooo good. So light and creamy. It made me forget that we missed out on the popular maple bacon cheesecake. I think they rotate their desserts so I doubt this dish will be a staple like the cheesecake. I miss it already. I was a little skeptical about the blue cheese crème brûlée but it turned out to be just as delicious. A bit rich, so two or three bites was more than enough for me. We are ready to go back and try the cheese board. Don’t let the outside appearance of the restaurant fool you. This restaurant is a hidden Jersey City gem only a few blocks away from Grove Street. Their mission is listed on their website) is to serve delicious, affordable food and that they did. We had an awesome meal without breaking bank. What more could you ask for? Looking forward to our next date night!
