We had an excellent meal here and the service was great. Danielle, our server, helped us find dishes that we liked and even told us about several upcoming deals the restaurant was having. We’ve always thought this restaurant was beautiful inside and adds so much to our Joplin downtown. I ordered the veal scallopini and my wife ordered the chicken parmigiana. Both tasted very authentic. Very good food. Looking forward to trying their lunch menu.

My husband and I came in for a romantic dinner and it was sweet! we had the chicken parmesean and tortellini portobello. Took home more than half because we ate the amazing fresh baked bread with our salads. Whiskey of all kinds and great liquor prices. $ 6 grey goose?! Yeah! We Also had dessert there which was table side made bananas foster. It was a great experience. Check it out! Awesome, dark atmosphere in an authentic downtown original building! I’ll be back to try more of the menu.

I came to Caldone’s for the first time with a small group of girlfriends for a weeknight dinner. We practically had the place to ourselves and our server was very attentive. Their bread wasn’t really my thing, kind of dry and blah, but I am not a bread lover anyway. It came with the standard dipping oil. My house salad was great and I lightly topped it with their somewhat sweet(and very good) House vinaigrette. My entrée choice was the Meatball Platter with veggies and I was very happy with it — a more than ample portion of good quality handmade meatballs with several types of meat and cheese incorporated, perfectly seasoned and cooked(and deliciously moist though tightly packed) on a bed of good-not-quite-great red sauce. The veggies were a blend of zucchini, yellow squash, onion, and bell pepper — all of my personal favorites. So my meal was a win. My friends who ordered sandwiches and fries or onion straws were delighted with their meals also. Another friend went for a plain meat sauce on penne and was not too pleased at all with the sauce, it really didn’t impress her and while I thought it was good I also wasn’t madly in love with it and would probably try a different sauce next time. Our small group shared two desserts and both were wonderful. The cannoli was well above average, but the Bananas Foster cheesecake(topped with a warm caramely sauce with fresh banana!) was the biggest hit with most of us. Seriously a must-try. While the restaurant is tidy, well-appointed, and a nice size, I wasn’t as impressed with the décor and atmosphere as a lot of the other reviewers seem to be. When we were first seated it smelled kind of musty to me, and I understand that happens sometimes with older buildings but it wasn’t the best impression when preparing for a higher end(for Joplin) dinner. The sponged walls and pieces of lattice work with faux greenery attached to the wall were a tad tacky, but the cohesive color scheme and dark, rich colored woodwork really helped to make Caldone’s feel a little bit luxe. The music was what I could only describe as traditional«Italian restaurant music» but not too loud for a cozy conversation. I’d have liked a little bit more variety. For me it was a solid four stars and I’ll likely return.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. The food is phenomenal, the service is great, the music is wonderful and the atmosphere is the best in Joplin. DON’T pay attention to lesser reviews or you’ll be missing out.

This has to be one of the best restaurants in Joplin. We started our meal with an appetizer of spinach artichoke dip. I have to say, it is the best that we have had anywhere. I ordered the chicken parmigian and it was delicious. I paid extra for the spinach salad, which was well worth it. It was one of the best that I’ve had as well. The service was excellent! We will definitely be returning !

This place became an instant favorite for my friends and I. First, we had dinner downstairs. I tasted several of the dishes we’d all ordered; ravioli, lasagna, chicken parmesan. Everything had that flavorful, fresh taste you expect from a traditional indie Italian restaurant. Big portions and surprisingly reasonable prices as well. The meat quality in the dishes was exquisite. The staff is very personable and engaging without being uncomfortably chatty. The interior was very clean, which is something I value as a restaurant customer. To top off an amazing meal was one of the most delicious Bananas Foster I’ve ever had. The manager made it fresh tableside. I eat out at restaurants often and this is the best evening dining experience I’ve had in a very long time. It renewed the desire to enjoy eating out that had waned from so many other boring dinners out. After dinner, we went upstairs to the ‘20s styled bar/lounge. A live jazz band really set the mood and the alcohol in the drinks was definitely generous for the price. The clientel was even mellow and not disruptive. This is the type of place I can get excited about going to for a night out with friends or for a romantic evening.

Solid meal, attentive service, and unique building downtown. Steak was tender and definitely cooked medium like I ordered, so many places overcook their steaks even when you order medium. Will be back again!

The reviews for Caldone’s aren’t great so I was hesitant to go here. Boy was I surprised! The inside is beautiful and has a French feel to it. The bartender made a Carmel Moonshine for my husband, but it was so good I ended up drinking it! For dinner I had the Chicken Florentine. DELISH! My husband had the filet with crab cake. It was good meat with an average flavor. We will be going back to have another Carmel Moonshine and to try out more of the menu!

I’ll admit: I haven’t heard great things about Caldone’s. In fact, reviews on Unilocal as well as other sites are kind of all over the board. Food is good, food is bad, service is good, service is bad. And sometimes you get all of it in one visit. I was actually pretty curious, and came here primarily to see what kind of experience I’d have. But I was also a little hesitant as I’d hate to spend a lot of money on a lackluster meal. Well … I was pleasantly surprised! First of all, the restaurant is a beautiful facility. The interior has this warm, elegant feel to it. Gold tin ceilings, brick walls, dark wood, exposed duct work. Beautifully lit. Definitely lends a certain appeal to the whole experience of dining here. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, and our server was exceptionally personable. I was observing the other guests around me and from what I could tell, there were no disgruntled looks on their faces. Good sign! Their menu is very large, and it is a little overwhelming when trying to decide what to order. We started with the bacon wrapped dates. Aside for being dangerously hot(let them cool for at least 5 minutes) these were really quite tasty. Had great contrast with the sweet, savory, and creamy. Plus, it was a nice small bite to get the dinner started. Fantastic bread — pulled apart nicely — and this really tasty olive oil with roasted garlic and aged balsamic. Salads, however, were not that great. We just had house salads with the house dressing, which sounded alright. But the dressing was just olive oil and herbs. Herbs were a good mix, but the oil coated your salad in an uncomfortable warmth that only a balsamic vinegar could fix. Not sure if the dressing meant to have vinegar and someone forgot. It was just odd that it was only oil. Entrees were the Chicken Florentine pasta(me) and Drunken Steak(hubby). I thought both were great. The pasta was coated in a delicious red pepper cream, with mushrooms, spinach, and pieces of breaded chicken on top. Usually pastas like these have grilled chicken not breaded, but I actually liked what they did. Added extra texture and crunch, plus the breading itself was another layer of flavor. I brought home my leftovers, and I can’t wait for lunch tomorrow! The steak was a ribeye marinated in Samuel Adams and topped with a delicious pesto cream. Verrrrrrry good! Lucus opted for the herbed risotto, but it was more of a sticky rice, not a true risotto. There was no creaminess; it actually held the shape of the serving scoop. The flavor was good(as a sticky rice) but if you are expecting a looser, creamy side, you’ll be disappointed. But let me reiterate — the flavor was good. Desserts were phenomenal. All of them made in house, which is quite impressive. We got the chocolate cheesecake and the cannoli. So yummy! The cheesecake was tops, decadent and super creamy. The cannoli had this wonderful nutmeg spiced pudding inside that was heavenly. We couldn’t eat all of it but didn’t dare waste it. Tomorrow’s lunch is gonna be awesome. I really wish I could have given Caldone’s 3.5 stars because it was a solid that. Truly an A-OK. I will go back again without hesitation so I can try more things. There’s a Seafood Phyllo there with my name on it.

This was a down and up visit. The people inside were great, but when I got my simple spaghetti with meat sauce, and besides being luke warm, it tasted off. I sent it back, and it appeared to have been cooked in a dirty pan with some sort of lemon cream sauce left over. To be fair, they owned up to the mistake and the refire was good. They also gave a 5 dollar dinner certificate, and a free desert and did a good job owning up to the mistake. As such, I will try them again, so my rating may change.

This is the worst place ever. The food is good but it was over an hour and my pizza didn’t come. Takes forever, this place isnt cheep too. Most of food is FROZEN. NOTFRESH. I went to the kitchen to yell at the chef saw my frozen pizza going in the oven. don’t wast your money. The only thing good was when I was writing this review the server saw me with Unilocal and offered me a free desert. I didn’t need a to go box for my pizza.

Nice and clean restaurant but the servers are a little indifferent. Pizza was just okay with no sauce that I could taste. My wife’s spaghetti with meat sauce was good though.

Solid dining experience. Outstanding service, nice interior(though the booths are a little uncomfortable), good selection on the menu. Had the hummus(could have used a little more spice), Mediterranean salad(pretty good, but you’d have to be an alien to screw up salad) and the chicken piccata — which was a little thickly breaded, but overall good. I’d certainly come back if I visited Joplin again.

Had a nice 4 course valentines day special here and was very impressed. Very nice upscale atmosphere and the food was superb. It was expensive but I did not feel it was overpriced compared to other places I’ve had similar experiences. I was impressed to have a meal this nice and upscale in Joplin. I can’t comment on their normal daily fair but I would imagine it’s good as well.
