This place is great. I love the grilled cheese and of course the fried green tomatoes are incredible.

Worth the drive away from the interstate and should be bookmarked on every serious Unilocalers page, The Whistle Stop Café from the movie Fried Green Tomatoes is Real. The main street in this small town(juelliete, ga) has plenty of antique shops and a view of the iconic waterfall. The staff is amongst the friendliest when it comes to southern hospitality. Everything this place has to offer is delicious but you must not leave without trying the fried green tomatoes or the famous sweet tea and bbq. I saved this jewel specifically for my 50th Unilocal and I have been coming to this place for years. It is an absolute southern jewel. And it offers a wonderful dinning experience.

What can be said about a movie location icon! First, its amazing food. Like seriously awesome food and Im now totally craving their fried green tomatoes and I sampled quite a few in the south and these, appropriately so, were perfection! The décor and feel are like«exactly how it looked in the movie which was such a treat! They even have«Bennett’s» bbq on the menu ala«secrets in the sauce» best movie line. The mac and cheese were great, corn bread, all tasty with good spice and flavor while not being too heavy.(Ate at Paula Deans in Savannah and could barely taste the the food it was so overpowered by butter) the beverage list is a bit minimal but kinda cool. Sweet tea, lemonade and coca cola rule! Little town is just like the movie and while filled with vintage shops and movie memorabilia is actually charming. Great stop if your a fan of the movie and the food is so good its almost worth the hour or so drive from Atlanta!

Salmon platter with 3 sides for $ 10.50 is not a bad deal and the food is great. Sorry I started in the Fried Green Tomatoes before I took the picture. They were great also. Great old town feel with great service and calm atmosphere. This place makes you want to kick back and chill. Lots of locals(fire, police, utility workers) stopping by for lunch. Great mix of both locals and tourists which means the food it actually GOOD!

We had to stop for the nostalgia aspect. We didn’t know what to expect and were happy with the food and service. From the fried green tomatoes to the bbq sauce, this place has great food. They were busy for a Monday at 1:00 in the afternoon, but the service was still excellent.

Been going here since it opened, have not been in a really long time so we took the family for lunch. WOW the prices really have jumped don’t remember it being that much. The food was OK and service was pretty good how ever the Fried Green tomatoes was very over priced $ 8.50 for 7 slices. They do not have any kids options at ALL! And with the cheapest plate being around $ 8.50 you think they could get some air conditioning in there, I know they are trying to keep it like the movie but this is Georgia!

I have only been here once and I really want to go back! Fried Green Tomatoes is one if my favorite movies. It was so neat to be in the little town where they filmed the movie and to be inside the actual café. I kept expecting Ruth to come out and offer us some pie. I had the mac n cheese, fried okra and the fried green tomatoes of course! The food was excellent. Mary Mac’s tea room has nothing on Whistle stop! The only drawbacks is that the café can be packed. Luckily I went on a day that there weren’t many people. I only had to wait about 45 minutes. If something is going on in the town, then the wait could be at least two hours. There is plenty to see in the mean time. They have several of the original buildings from the movie itself. Ruth and Idgie’s house is still there. It has been turned into a little gift shop. The room where the scene with Frank Bennett trying to see Buddy and Ruth stops him and then Smokey Lonesome shows up to help is still there too. It even has the original wall paper from the movie. You can even drive up the road a little ways to the church and graveyard used in the movie. The have tombstones for Buddie’s arm and Ruth! You will drive down this little country road for about 7 miles with nothing but cows and pastures and hard houses. Then the town will be on the right depending on which direction you come from. Overall it was a really cool experience. I can’t wait to go back!

Great stop between Macon and Atlanta. Only opened AFTER the movie, but well run, clean, authentic(we saw a 92nd birthday party while we were there). The country fried steak was good, as were the fried green tomatoes. The town itself is OK, lots of antiques and gift shops, but great to walk up and down the one street.

My mom has been wanting to try this place for years. On her way into town today, I met her here for lunch. She had the country fried steak with mashed potatoes. She couldn’t finish it because the portions were huge! I had the barbecue sandwich with fried okra. I preferred the Q without the bun, and it was delicious. The okra was good, too. They don’t believe in central air, so be open to a little sweat while you enjoy your meal.

Our experience was awesome! We showed up on a Sunday around 1:00 and waited about 15 minutes for a seat at the bar. The server was very friendly, the restaurant looks just like you’re in the movie and the food was delicious! Seriously, I thought the food wouldn’t be anything special because they could bank on the movie scene, but they definitely care about the food. My husband and I said it was the best friend green tomatoes and country fried steak we have ever had. The pulled pork was great, too! If we’re driving through we’ll definitely go back :)

Expensive, but it’s worth going again for. I had fried green tomatoes and they were really good! I came on a Tuesday night if I remember, so it wasn’t busy. It’s not very big so expect a wait on a weekend because it can get busy!

Food here was good. Huge portions… I think we all brought food home. Of course we got the fried green tomatoes, which were better than I expected but a bit salty for my taste. The street was all antique and gift shops. People that we came across were friendly(shout out to the guy who let our son sit on his motorcycle!). The staff was great, although we finished well after closing they at no time rushed us to leave. Nice tourist trap to say you’ve been to if nothing else :)

My wonderful husband took me here because I love the movie Fried Green Tomatoes. We went for lunch during the week and sat at the bar because the booths were all full — The fried green tomatoes were the best thing about the menu. I had the fried chicken and my husband had the country fried steak. They were both good and the country friend steak was a huge portion. The both pieces of the chicken were small and kind of dry, BUT the vegetables were all great! It is a long way out of the way but the town is wonderful and quaint and if you enjoyed the movie it is a must do!

Stumbled across this café by accident. I didn’t know it was a real place. Great story, great food. Of course I had the fried green tomatoes. Also had the country steak with gravy. Very pleasant meal and the staff was very friendly and had lots of info about the movie. A great way to spend an afternoon of you are a fan of the movie and great food and atmosphere even if you don’t know anything about the movie. According to the staff, business is pretty slow November thru February. Otherwise you may have to wait for a seat. They are only open for lunch 11 — 4.

I’m reviewing food here… the food was great to me! Of course we got fried green tomatoes, they were awesome! Very crispy, hot and fresh! I liked the dipping sauce, she didn’t. But honestly they didn’t really need anything! We also got a cheeseburger all the way. It was fresh, cooked perfectly and great size! We split it and we were satisfied. We opted for the onion rings and man, what a great decision. I loved them, probably best I’ve had in along time. The nostalgia of the place was pretty cool too. It was neat to know you were eating in the same place, at the same bar, as you see in the movie. We loved it!
