Sometimes there just aren’t enough stars. This is one of those times. Here’s the straight — up truth about International Mountain Guides(IAG): it is an outstanding organization, professionally run, with beyond competent instructors who are commutative in that ‘it feels like we’ve known each other forever despite the fact that we just met’ way. Look, credentials and certifications stand on their own merit. IAG has them, AMGA and IFMGA/UIAGM. But, those nifty acronyms, and the supporting expertise, are only part of a guiding company’s story. The other part is how the guides put accreditation into practice. Here IAG shines so bright you’re going to need shades. Before you even rope-up, you’re more than part of a team; you’re mates! Plus, and perhaps even foremost, IAG remembers what many companies have forgotten: that climbing is fun — capital F, U, N — FUN, safe, adventurous FUN. (This reviewer just finished a multi-day class with Dave Miller, and is counting the days until he can get back out with IAG.)

A group of friends and I have been going on at least one trip a year for the past four years with Dave Miller and IAG. Together with IAG, we have summited volcanos in Mexico, mountains in the Swiss and French Alps, a 20k-foot mountains in Ecuador, and, most recently, the Eastern Sierras. IAG is extremely professional and will make sure that whatever your goals are that you reach them safely while having enormous fun and learning tons in the process. Again, we could not recommend Dave and his crew more highly!
