BAKERYCLOSED: After 18 years of serving bagels to downtown Juneau, Silverbow Bakery is closed as of Oct. 4, 2015. The owners will continue to operate the Silverbow Inn — a boutique hotel located adjacent to the now defunct bakery. The business taking over the location has indicated an interest in continuing to make bagels, but details on the business taking over have not yet been released.

Yes, get the salmon. Anything with salmon and capers is a must. I ordered the sammie and it was the perfect size. With flaky chunks of smoked salmon, it was a delicious mix with herbed spreadable cheese and capers it was the perfect size and easy to eat. It wasn’t smooshed like most bagel sandwiches, it’s an open faced meal. After you’re done with that, head down the hall to the wine bar.

I loved my Italian meaty sandwich but thought the chicken salad wasn’t that great to be a menu highlight. Our main disappointment was the SIXDOLLAR bagel with hummus we got for our daughter… I thought 4.95 seemed steep but it’s another 1.30 for the bagel itself… which was too tough for us to bite or tear easily and the hummus was oozing all over the place. I appreciate the attempt to give me as much as possible given the price but there is no need for a lake of hummus in the middle of the thing. And I’m really not a bagel snob but I would expect it to be a little bigger to be considered a specialty. Oh and for a bakery the bread selection was pretty sad… the board listed 3 kinds that weren’t even available. Thankfully the whole grain was delicious.

Have tried twice, both times service was slow and poor, almost as if they did not want any customers. Wine selection OK. Walk next door to Salt for a much better experience.

I know they have excellent good, but false advertising(stating you deliver when you clearly DONOT is just not ok! Too many companies on Unilocal are doing that just to get people to look at them and that’s rather pitiful!!!

French press coffee with vegetarian sandwich — you can’t go wrong with this. We tried others but didn’t like them. If you stay in inn, the inn takes care of breakfast so it’s even better.

We stopped at the Silverbow Bakery for lunch upon arriving in downtown Juneau. What a great lunch spot with some fantastic bagels. While we didn’t check out the Wine Bar, it looked pretty neat through the windows. I’ll have to explore this part next time I’m in Juneau! So I ordered the lox sandwich on a wheat bagel as per the recommendation of the young lady who took my order. The salmon was incredibly fresh and the portion size was generous! I’d love to try some more of their bagels sometime. It appeared as though people could order in bulk whether it be for a party, the office, or something else. I loved the vibe of this establishment and how we had the option to eat inside or out. Definitely had a sense of community about it with the t-shirts and other items available for sale. I also noticed employees taking their lunch breaks and enjoying sandwiches from Silverbow. It’s always nice to see employees eating food from where they work, too! If you’re in the area, grab a bagel!!!

Got«The Classic» for my flight home. The perfect ending to a great trip to Alaska. The sourdough bagels are lacking a little sourness but still tasty. The garlic bagel is good but bring some gum for after. Nice to have freshly baked bagels for the long trip home!

Finally some excellent bagels in Alaska! Had an everything bagel with egg and cheese. The price was kind of outrageous to me, but there was more egg on it than any other egg and cheese I’ve ever had, so I suppose that’s why. Wait was also on the slower side, but I was definitely impressed. I wish I could have sat down to experience the full service, as well as the wine bar!

Despite their stranglehold on the bagel market, today’s experience insured I will never patronize Silverbow bagels again. But it’s nothing to do with the mediocre foodstuffs, and everything to do with the abysmal customer service. I’ve learned to call ahead and place my order, as I’d already been delayed numerous times on previous visits by exorbitant wait times and forgotten or «misplaced’ orders. Having been called in to work unexpectedly I had no time to waste this moring. I confirmed my order with Veronica(possibly Vanessa), who took the call, and told her I’d be in in about ten minutes. When I arrived Veronessa was nowhere to be found, but the girl behind the register informed me that she had«rang me up for the Classic», instead of the Poor Dude’s, toasted, no tomato, I’d ordered. In other words, she charged me for an item nearly double the price of the one I wanted(9.99 instead of 5.49). I should have noticed the discrepancy before handing over the money, but the high charge didn’t register with me until I was being handed my change. I asked the teller if she could please ring me up for the proper order, but she explained that wasn’t possible because I had a Classic. I reminded her that she just acknowledged someone made a mistake. But her solution, instead of refunding me the surcharge, was to «throw that away and ring you up for a Poor Dude’s and make that.» But as I already mentioned, I didn’t have the time to wait for another order to be made and, consequently, no time to argue the point further. I cut my losses to make it to work on time, and discover that not only was it the wrong order, it was Untoasted and coated in tomato. i turn now to the Internet to try and help others avoid the tension and anger I commuted with this morning. I will no longer be choosing Silverbow for breakfast until is something is done about the pack of incompetent toddlers running amuck behind the counter.

Not impressed. S L O W service & inexperienced staff. They were«out» of many items on their menu. The place looked haggard, unorganized & dirty. Yuck. Unfortunate because it def has potential to be really cool.

Came here 3 days in a row for breakfast. Make their own bagels. Very nice, very fresh. Coffee ok, but I seem to have a problem with all the coffee up here??? My issue, not theirs. I liked the Salt bagel, extra toasted, with butter and cream cheese.(WAY off my normal eating habits.) Our last night here in Alaska, and thought we’d hit their wine bar before our final meal(next review.) Got the Salty plate/tapas and a Salmon plate/tapas. Both very nice. Enjoyed a few ;-) glasses of wine before dinner. Wine selection was perfect for my pallet.

Walked over for a quick lunch The good: Almond bagel was fantastic. It came with my salad. and was a true treat. Basically a dessert. The OK Soup– I ordered Thai soup. It had really good flavor but cup was a small portion. Salad– Silverbow salad basic but solid. Chipotle lime dressing was excellent lox– added lox to salad. very small portion but tasted excellent The less than ok Price– for salad+ lox + cup of soup was ~$ 20. They did throw in free bagel, but that seemed high. Service– Very nice and friendly folks but I watched them deliver meal after meal only to have the recipient examine and have to go back for correction. Thankfully I watched happen enough that I looked at mine, and sure enough it was missing the lox. not a huge deal and quickly fixed, but be aware. This place is great for a bagel and maybe I made too many rookie ordering mistakes but for the price, I would expect more.

My second time in Juneau, first was a 4 hr layover, and today was more of a family emergency. We stopped for a quick late lunch not ever eating there before. My Italian Meaty panini sandwich was delicious. I was not disappointed. Will probably go back once more. Thanks Silverbow.

The photo on the ad is deceptive because it shows lox hanging over the bagel. For the past 8 years I have eaten at Silver Bow, the bagel with lox has been my choice and I was never disappointed until today. I discovered several changes have taken effect. First the price has increased to $ 10. And the chips or carrots sides are no longer included. Okay, fine. I placed my order and added 79 cents for the carrots. When the meal arrived, I discovered 1) the bagel size has shrunk down at least 25%. Used to be large bagels, but no more. 2) the carrots were in a teeny plastic bag and white and dried out from age. I would have tossed them at home, but not Silver Bow. 3) The«lox» were not visible under the tomato. When I lifted the onion and tomato to see if they’d forgotten the lox, there were two tiny pieces on each bagel that covered less than half of the surface. I returned my plate to the front counter and told them for $ 10 I expect the lox to cover the bagel. Three times I had to repeat myself and the girl kept saying«so you want more lox on your bagel?» I said I want what I paid for. They added more lox. I ate the bagel plus the dried up carrots and still walked out hungry plus $ 15 less in my pocket. It’s a shame that Silver Bow has elected to raise prices and reduce the amount of food they were known for. I guess I’m going to have to start curing my own salmon again. :-(

Great selection of food. Free wifi, good coffee and quiet atmosphere. I really enjoyed the bagel with locally caught smoked salmon. Their baked goods are fantastic as well. My hotel had spotty wifi, so I came here to get work done. The staff was very friendly. Definitely a place to hit up if you’re gonna be in Juneau.

My usual moring stop when in Juneau. I like the bagels, the lox on onion being my favorite. There’s some mixed reviews down there, yeah, you know I could easily be one of them but I’ve been there enough and its the kind of place that I feel puts out good quality when they are on yes, they can be off on service too, but most of the time, on.

I’ve been here twice and have enjoyed my food both times. However, the prices are way too high and the service is not good. It takes a while to get your order(we waited 20 minutes for coffee) and the employees are not friendly.
