Cannot say how being away makes all things better. :) Moved to Utah and don’t have what I call«Meat & Three» — basically meat choice with veggies on a chalkboard that changes every day — like Lonesome Spur. Flavorful green beans, fried okra, cabbage, etc., good service, quick food delivery, reasonable pricing and ample portions. Will always return when in town.

Took my husband here for Father’s Day lunch and my son. It was terrible will never return. The food was nasty. It was like day old food reheated and served. Brought to waitress and cashiers attention and didn’t even try to make it right.

Best home cooking around! My husband and I eat here at least once a week. Sometimes twice. Meatloaf is amazing! Wonderful small town service.

Tried breakfast here on Wednesday mourning around 9:30am. Not busy, maybe around 10 people inside. Ordered their special which was 2 eggs, 2 sausages, and hash browns, with an English Muffin. Eggs were over cooked, sausage was burnt, hash browns were just fried up to nothing and the English Muffin was mostly black. How do you screw up breakfast? Plus, there were enough FLIES flying around that you thought something must be dead somewhere. I definitely wouldn’t eat here again. Actually, I left most of my meal and left. McDonalds never looked so good.

Been here a couple times. The food is decent, not great. Stopped in for breakfast today. We were seated quickly and the gentlemen who sat us took our drink order and brought them quickly, then the waiting started. The table beside us was visited by three different waitresses while we waited, obviously regulars. Finally after about 10 minutes a waitress took our order. The table beside us continued to have waitresses stop by and see if they needed anything, without asking us. Our food came in a timely manner. Then we didn’t see another server. A table was seated next to us, obviously another regular, as four or five different servers came by to say hi, ignoring us. I went up to pay the check, I was third in line. The young lady noticed me standing there when she completed the customer in front of me, then sighed and snatched the check out of my hand, I paid and got a quick :“have a good day” as she walked away. So, OK food, but the perception I received was… if your not a local, don’t expect great service.

Great food! Got the spur burger, it was good. Also a slice of coconut cream pie. So far everything we’ve eaten here we love. Love the rustic atmosphere!

The food was ok… not great, but decent. They share a kitchen with the Mule Barn next door but the food seems a bit more consistent at Lonesome Spur than at Mule Barn. The space that they have is terribly under utilized. They could do so much more with the place. Basically it was ok but didn’t really impress me at all

Gotta go into this place understanding it’s a hole-in-the-wall diner. Love the small town appeal and the prices are great. The wait staff has always been extremely nice the 4 times we’ve been there. This isn’t the place to go to get a salad or smoothie… if you are looking for some home cookin’ type greasy food… give it a try. Breakfast is good and the cornbread is the best we’ve had. Just a fun change from the chains that seem to be popping up everywhere.

I was out visiting my best friend and this was a close stop by his house. The first time we ate here it was a busy morning and service was a bit slow. The NASCAR race was going on that day and it was pretty packed. I have to say the food was very good and I would recommend it. The staff did a good job and were very friendly.

Not my best dining experience, after being seated we waited for five minutes with no service, I ask the greeter if we could get someone to help us, it still took a good three minutes before anyone showed up, and the place WASNOT packed. Once we received our food we never had anyone ask if we needed anything or how the food was. The food was not that great, my wife’s waffle was soggy and my scramble eggs were over cooked and hard/dry. I would AVOID this place.

This place is awful! The food is bland and not well executed. How can you mess up breakfast? This place did just that. I had an omelette and the veggies in it were not cooked, barley even warmed thru! Something was incorrect on every order, we had a party of 4, the water tasted like dirt and who keeps pre-filled cups of tea stacked?! Gross! I really want to know how this place stays in business … Our coffee cups were empty most of the time and our server was very nice but she was busy apologizing to every table for how slow the kitchen was and how inaccurate every order was! I really hate to slam a local business but you all need to do better!

We love the Spur for breakfast and lunch. Good country cookin’ with friendly service and great food. I love their ice cold schooners of cold beer and their Spur burger. I also recommend buying one of their pies on the way out the door.

More like 2.5 stars but hey. It’s nothing special. Lots of sugar and grease. Nothing green in the place.

Underdone/powdery eggs, hash browns from a bag, dry biscuits, and jerky-like bacon. Not my idea of «home cookin». I think I will pass next time.

Drove to the country to try this place out. Kitschy«Texana» décor. Made the mistake of arriving at 1:40 when they closed at 2:00. We ordered quickly, got our food quickly, ate quickly. Chicken fried steak – very good. Crispy batter, cream gravy. Mashed potatoes hard and stiff. Fried okra seemed to be the frozen variety. Rolls were yeasty but cold. Service – efficient and then disappeared. To be fair, they were closing. Got up and refilled my own tea glass. At 2:00 they began scraping chairs loudly across the floors; at 2:10 the busboy sat at the table next to ours and just stared at us until we got up. It was creepy. I would say it’s a small town place, catering to the locals. Anyone else will probably find better options in their own cities(like Mama’s Daughters). And for God’s sake, go WELL before closing time.

I want to give it 4-stars, but I just can’t. Why? Because there is a smoking section that can overpower the non-smoking section(even though there are two different rooms). The first time I went, it was excellent. No smoke smell, food was great, I was so happy. Went back a couple of days later, and I couldn’t eat my food because when it came, so did the overpowering smell of smoke. The food is great. Service? Well, it varies. Feast or famine. I am not real impressed on the service front. We will probably go back, and request to sit as far from the smoking section as possible.

Good ‘ol fashion country cooking and a quaint hole-in-the-wall type restaurant on Justin, TX. Casual kitschy country décor that suits the feel of the restaurant well. The building seems to be an old auto shop of sorts based on some tale tale clues like old roll up doors. They have a ton of space inside, with places that could work well for private parties or groups. The food is down home grub and its yummy! We came for breakfast and I ordered the pecan waffle, which was pretty big and darn tasty. Others at the table ordered chicken fried steak with eggs and hashbrowns and toast. Eggs were cooked perfect. Toast was a bit overdone. Hash browns were just right. The chicken fried steak was big on size and flavor. The batter was well seasoned but not overpowering. Friendly staff and who kept the coffee coming… which is just how I like it. Definitely a great place to get some good old fashion home style country food in Justin, Tx. Breakfast was great. Lunch and dinner menu looks equally tasty and when I’m back on that side of town I aim to find out.

Darn good breakfast! I’ve know for some time that there was some diner-ish type joint in Justin, so we decided to give it a try for breakfast. If you like dives with good food, you will like this. I had the Lonesome Rancheros, which was a really good twist to huevos rancheros. The base is a cornmeal waffle with a layer of pinto beans, covered in cheese, topped with over easy eggs and home made salsa(that is very tasty). My wife got a cheese omlette that came with hash browns and toast. My kids each has a breakfast off the kids menu which was $ 2.99 each. Over all we all ate breakfast with 2 coffees for under $ 21. The service also was very pleasant. Also, if you live in the Lantana community, this is a nice short drive west on 407. You’re there in less then 10 minutes. With the weekend traffic on the east part of 407, it could take you 15 minutes to get to Highland Village or Flower Mound. The Lonesome Spur is a great Saturday or Sunday morning breakfast alternative. Enjoy!

My husband is absolutely in LOVE with the Spur burger. It is HUGE, you might want to practice mouth stretches before you attempt a bite. The fries and onion rings are nothing special, in fact, they are pretty gross. I would be willing to pay extra for a different side, and next time I am sure that’s what we will do. The southwest salad hits the spot and is very large. We have also been for breakfast and the Lonesome Rancheros is absolutely amazing! Very clever concept, the cornbread waffle, topped with eggs, salsa & pinto beans. It all went together very well and the waffle did not turn soggy from the over easy eggs, salsa or beans as one would suspect. Perhaps it was so incredible that we scarfed it down before it had a chance. It is a huge portion size, so don’t be surprised that you can’t finish it all, but it is not something that I would attempt to bring home as leftovers. The french toast is also very tasty though a bit on the pricey side considering it does not come with any sides, $ 4 for just 4 slices of french toast, no eggs or bacon or sausage. You can add 1 egg for $ 1 and/or 4 slices of bacon or 2 links of sausage for $ 2.25, so it does add up quick on the pancakes, waffles or french toast. The hours are kinda strange, I wish they would switch the late Thursday evening hours to Saturday.
