There fast sometimes depending, but a lot of people use the drive through over here and couple times when I went through drive through and asked for a cup of water they have never done it and I don’t get why its so hard to give me a cup of water. Also the prices are more on maui or like the price had gone up for most things on the dollar menu.

If you say make breakfast at midnight, why can’t you make a breakfast sandwich in 5 minutes. It’s not like I’m asking for eggs benedict or huevos rancheros. So disappointed. I should have gone to the one upcountry. Over 5 vehicles have been served and I still wait parked waiting for my food.

The original McDonald’s on Maui. It’s gone through several incarnations as far as the structure with the current building being brought forward, with more visibility from Pu’unene Avenue. It has two drive-through lanes which is open 24 hours. The dinning room is mid-size and with a main room adjacent to the counter/ordering area, and a smaller dining area(which can be closed off) facing the street. The look is modern-fast food-chic. If any one remembers, gone is 1990’s industrial look, and before that it was the 80’s fluorescent and neon lighting. The original had an open eating area, which was later enclosed, and had what can only be called Tiki hut meets Maui condo décor. As far as food, McDonald’s still has the basic menu and has taken it a few notches up over the years(with a few years in between that they took it DOWN too). Too many choices! My only grievance, is that how small the burgers are now(or maybe it just looked big when we were kids). In all, this place satisfies that fast food craving!

This is probably Maui’s first McDonald’s. No longer with a playground and private party room like back in the day. It’s now very corporate and adolescent. SERVICE: The staff are friendly, but drive-thru service time is longer than ever, thanks in part to the new dual ordering system. Bad idea if you ask me, unless this location doesn’t know how to operate it efficiently. TIP: 24-hour drive thru.

So I want a $ 1 hamburger with mac sauce instead of the usual. They want to charge $ 0.50 to change one for the other. This on a sandwich that only costs a dollar to begin with? You gotta be kidding. I’m trying to be the open minded, adventurous explorer — yet I am still disappointed when the person behind the counter, lovely as she was, has such a poor grasp of english.

I’m a Mushroom Angus burger fan and have never been disappointed by this sandwhich. This location is pretty fast considering two lanes.

Double Entry should only be reserved for certain occasion — the drive thru at Puunene McDonald’s is not one of them. It is quite the cluster F as you can imagine. However, if you manage to not catch them during rush hour, they are consistent about fast and hot food. I should also tell you that if you MUST go to McDonald’s to satisfy a very poor craving, try going to the one in Kihei instead, as this particular McD’s is actually 10% more expensive. I should also add a bonus .25 stars for the Taro Pie though. mmmm mmmm

Halfway busy so I understand them being a little bit slow /backed-up, but having to wait 10−15+ minutes just for a few Taro Pies is kinda’ crazy. That’s not including the time it took me to order those pies because just trying to get them to take my order took awhile as they seemed to be just twiddling their thumbs behind the counter between customers. Sometimes I feel a little odd reviewing fast food joints like McDonald’s on Unilocal because I kind of expect them to all be sub-par/average experiences(additionally, I don’t do fast food very often), but on occasion, when the service, etc., is a little extra crappy, I have an urge to tell others about it. Pick up the slack McD Boys & Girls!

11/24/2011-Went to McDonald’s since many restaurants were closed for the Thanksgiving holiday. These guys were open ’til 7pm that evening. Ordered a Big Mac and fries at the Drive-Thru. Made the mistake of ordering the large size. The fries were HUGE. Also, they didn’t give us any ketchup for our fries. Was bummed about that. Overall, a typical McD’s.

Like any other McDonalds. They went through modernization of their whole store like every other McDonalds in Hawaii. The two-lane drive thru can get backed up at times, but it goes by pretty fast. If you come in from the front entrance, it is two lanes, but one way so if you enter from the back you must go around to get to the closer parking stalls. There is ample amount of parking but it does fill up since this is the central McDonalds to Kahului town.

I’m still kinda ticked that the evil S. B made me eat at McDonald’s, processed food hell that it is. We pulled into the drive thru late, just arriving to Maui after a loooongg flight and he was insistent that we get something to eat before hitting the road to Kapalua. Poop on him. I initially refused to order anything, but after some prodding, I begrudgingly ordered a piping hot fried apple pie… MMMMMMM…I hate to admit it, but it was delicious and reminded me of when I was a kid. They don’t sell these on the mainland anymore. It’s for this reason and this reason ony that I rated McDonald’s a 3!!! Bastards! McDonald’s, I lub to hate u and hate to lub u… :-P

How awesome is this? I’m the first person to review the McDonald’s in Kahului, Maui. My family moved to Maui in 1968 and I remember hamburgers being 25 cents when Maui basically had two fast food restaurants on the whole island. .. McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Thank you McDonald’s for all those years of happiness. .. from seeing me transition from hamburgers to cheeseburgers and even growing up to big kid level with my first Big Mac. You saved my undeveloped tastebuds from poi and squid and prevented that little white kid from starving to death. Here’s to you McDonald’s — I raise my glass to you old friend. Aloha to you and a big hang loose to the hamburglar and grimace
