Meh. Not much unique to see/buy. There’s better ways to spend your time.

Almost a FIVE * if you count all of the small biz doing their best for us within this lil gem of an off the beaten… nice spot to just chill, roam and talk story. Most of the people working there own the places and love what they do. It shows. I have been a dozen times and still not seen all they have to offer. Plenty of shaded parking for one! love it. Good food and treats too. If you are hangin Kona, go and ck it. WE got food, gifts, crafts, art, clothing(slightly used), SURF/sand, shoes, pop corn, snow cones, wood work, and FUN all waiting inside. I think the folks there are great too and love talking story with them and learning about the art and food prep.

Great location on Alii… more and more vendors so let’s support them!

Cute market off the main drag — favorites here were Kona Natural Soaps and TJ’s BBQ on the beach. Another tip — there’s a gentleman selling used snorkel gear. We purchased 2 sets for $ 20 that we used all week on vacation. He buys them back for ½ price, too. It was worth it to us so we didn’t have to carry it home in our luggage.

Ali’i Gardens Marketplace is a nice little market a little distance away from the tourist trap stuff in Kona. It’s quaint and small and has several small local vendors selling artisinal soaps, foods and lovely crafts and works of art. I would recommend going there on your first day on the Big Island. The vendors are super friendly and will make great recommendations for things to do that are a little bit off the beaten path.

I see a lot of potential with this marketplace, there are a few great vendors that carry local products, but I see the need for more local artists/artisans here. It’s only a few minutes south of Kona’s main drag. I was disappointed some places were closed when we visited, but make sure to visit the Kona Natural Soap Company on Wednesday or Saturday, they have great Kona coffee and a great selection of beautiful handmade soaps.

Love this area! I will come here first next time, as the variety of vendors had what I wanted for trinkets to take home. Wish the soap place had been open, but I can order online. This is not the Farmer’s Market — but I didn’t want fruit or overpriced earrings. I wanted tshirts and locally produced items. Score!

This is a fun market to go to when visiting the island. Beautiful atmosphere. All the vendors are really friendly with great deals on some nice items to buy. Debi at Big Island Kettle Corn was very helpful and nice to talk to and has many great tasting flavors to choose from. Was a great start to our day! Would definitely recommend coming by this little gem of a market!

I went mid afternoon on a Friday and only half the stands we’re open. Not sure if it’s always like this, but I decided to walk around anyways. Most shops just sold the typical souvenirs and jewelry. The courtyard was big and spacious, but the lack of people made it seem very empty. Not sure how I feel about this market…

Completely a waste of time. Very few vendors and everything is overly priced. Kettle Corn was burnt and very expensive at $ 10. for a small bag. You can feel the desperation and negativity from these vendors as they aren’t as friendly as the Farmers Market.

A quick visit to a nice small marketplace. We visit with several owners talking jewelry at Sassafras, soap with Greg at his Kona Natural Soap Co, and T shirt at a stand with great designs and very good price. Small fruit and vegie stands too. Very nice & clean with owners talking with you and not selling you.

A really cool outdoor market where you can find the works of local artisans. Finish your visit with a trip to Nathalie’s Shave Ice.

great place to find things made in Hawaii. The Soap Company is a great place to buy soap. Greg is the owner of the soap company and is friendly. The soap is all natural and has great scents.

When you visit this place you do need to visit Kona Soap guy. I went there 2 years ago and have ordered his soaps on line since I liked them so well. Now the best part is I can now visit him on Weds. and Saturday now that I live here. You will also see him once a month at the Alii stroll in downtown Kona.

I love the Ali’i Gardens Marketplace, but most of all I love Kona Natural Soap Company. Greg was so informative and even gave us a tour where they make there soap and of there farm from where they get many of the natural products that they use. I love Kona Natural Soap, and use it every day, and I have ordered it online for a few years now. What a nice place to visit, and when you do, take some soap home with you it’s heaven. Thanks Greg and Marty

I like that I found this company that sells soap from Kona at this marketplace. There is not a huge amount of vendors like say the Hilo Farmers Market, but it’s quaint and there are a variety of offerings. Depending on your tastes and what you may be looking for, it could take you anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour to walk the whole marketplace.

It looks like a lively marketplace could have once existed here, but now what’s left is a very sad looking deserted circle of booths. There were hardly any customers there. Prices for items were the same all over downtown Kona so that leaves very little incentive for tourists to come this far for so few options.
