Big Island Hair

I hired Rachel for my wedding day. If I could give Rachel 10 stars I would ! She came and did my hair and makeup, as well as my bridesmaid hair and makeup and my 4 daughters hair. She unbelievably sweet and professional. All
Of our hair was lovely, she even added fresh flowers to all of our hair ! When I asked her to add more flowers to my hair she do it with out hesitation and a great attitude. As we got closer to the time to leave for our wedding, we could all tell we would running late. She stayed extremely calm and upbeat, which kept me calm and smiling. She even helped my mother with her hair, when my mother showed up last minute. With out question !! Even though we ran a bit late, it was WELL worth it. Everybody looked lovely. She really took into consideration how we all wanted our hair, and did our makeup exactly as we requested. She definitely knew what she was doing. We even saw her driving through town and she stopped to congratulate my husband and I. She is just a lovely human being and really knows her hair and makeup. I highly recommend her for your wedding or special occasion ! She is just spectacular !!

Rachel is amazing!!! She is my go to girl for my hair and I am the pickiest! I love fashion colored hair and not very many people know how to do it! She’s a brilliant hair colorist and amazing at cutting too! She uses only the top notch products such as olaplex! I won’t go anywhere else! She has taken my hair from dark green to a beautiful blond and from Brownish dark plum to a beautiful Violet purple with frosted tips and highlights! She’s the best on the big island!

Rachel provided very poor and unprofessional service for me and my wedding party. She was an hour late on our wedding day so we were all running behind, her excuse was oh all brides run late. We also paid for services a week upfront so she was very laid back and didn’t even care that my hair or make up wasn’t done on time. Also her blow dryer broke and she didn’t have a back up (how can you call your self a professional if you don’t even have a blow dryer). She also forgot to bring flowers for the hair that she promised in the contract. I really try to be positive about big island hair but I think Rachel doesn’t really care about good customer services because she knows all of you brides are on big island for one time service and paying upfront gives her a power of not caring for clients.

Big Island Hair did both my hair and makeup for my wedding on 11/​23/​2015 on site. Not only was it better than I imagined, Rachel is a pleasure to share time with. She makes you feel wonderful and confident. She is insightful and picks up on your style and brings that into her work on your hair and make up. I would recommend Rachel to anyone looking for fabulous hair and make up for a special day!

Rachel is incredible. I am a stylist myself, trained in Los Angeles, and own my business in Northern California… That being said, Rachel far exceeded my expectations. She is genuine, kind, flexible, and VERY talented. She did my and my sisters makeup for my wedding day… And it was the best makeup job either of us have ever had done. We collaborated on my hair and it turned out exactly how I imagined. Rachel communicates very well and knows how to deliver. My photographer was even impressed and she has done celebrity weddings and has seen tons of brides. All that to say if you are considering someone for your special event… Go with Rachel!

Rachel was absolutely amazing. I would definitely recommend her to any women in need of a hair/​makeup artist. Her shop is cute and comfortable and Rachel herself is very accommodating.
My brother was having a destination wedding and since I was going to be in alot of pictures, I had to make sure I looked good and I couldn’t have done this without Rachel. After poor Rachel putting up with me for three months via email I finally got to meet this wonderful woman personally. She made my sister, mother and myself look stunning. I had no clue what I wanted as far as hair and makeup go, so Rachel asked to see my dress that I was going to wear that night and went to work on me. Without knowing what exactly she had planned out, I had put alot of trust in her and it all came out perfectly. Even my sister who is extremely picky was happy with her work and that alone says something.
She took her time with all of us showing her pride and perfectionism in her work. She is super easy to get ahold of (which I learned on this island is a very rare thing). She is a very friendly person as well, which meant alot since my mother has never had this type of work done and it calmed her nerves down. Rachel is a little pricy but well worth it. If you are a woman in need call her and you won’t be disappointed. Thanks again Rachel!!!

We booked Rachel based on the recommendation of our amazing wedding planner. She did a spectacular job on hair and make-​up for my fiancé and mother-​in-​law. I’m shocked by the poor review below. Karen went out of her way to accommodate tardiness on the part of of us twice! One on the preview day, and then again on our wedding day. (I guess we adapted to «island time» a bit too eagerly!)

I was planning my destination wedding and needed a stylist to work with me on hair and make-​up for my big day. I needed someone that could do 4 women’s hair styles and my make-​up. I found Rachel through a referral and she as AMAZING! From the minute I booked her she took the time to return emails and phone calls. She was timely with her invoicing and I had a great experience with her communications. We were able to meet with her a couple days before the wedding for a consultation. She showed up on time and got us all fixed up. I LOVED MY HAIR! I told her I wanted to look like myself but better and she did that. I loved what she did for all of us. I cannot recommend her enough. So easy to work with and just a joy. Thanks Rachel! You totally made my wedding special.

I was looking for a reliable trustworthy stylist for my destination wedding… Sadly, the owner Rachel is neither trustworthy, or reliable and does below average work. She attempted a hairstyle unsuccessfully leaving lumps and my part exposed in braided updo. I had numerous flyways for which she used no products. On top of this she charged me for services she never preformed & arrived over an hour late to my wedding day… To make matters worse I contacted her after the fact & I was told no refunds and my hair was hard to style and over processed. She refused to refund me. Luckily MasterCard/​visa refunded my money.
