Ku’uipo

Went out on Captain Kevin’s boat on the 22^nd and chartered the boat for 8 hours. We told him it was more important to catch fish than go after the elusive bill fish and he graciously obliged. We started down the coastline looking for mahi-​mahi and ono trolling for almost four hours with nothing to show for it except a beautiful ride… then we headed out in deeper waters looking for something. Kevin and his first mate Darren, were very pleasant, asking if we needed anything several times, and told us their strategies for catching fish. We saw dolphin, a whale and couple of flying fish. To be fair Kevin said when we left, things had been slow, but that didn’t concern us. I was with my soon to be son-​in-​law, and when Kevin asked if we had more time available our 8 hour excursion turned into 11 hours. Not a peep out of the young man he was as happy to be on the boat as I was… and I realized the lesson learned was the my daughter had found a keeper! And selfishly, I have a fishing partner for the rest of my days (which I hope are several decades). When we left, Kevin took my number and said if he caught any fish during the week, he would call and we would be able to eat some fresh mahi-​mahi or ono. Kevin didn’t disappoint, the charter on the 24^th scored, ahi and mahi mahi. The boat next to the Ku’uipo caught a marlin and before I knew it, I was handed a slab of marlin too! I can only say that although we didn’t catch any fish, we had an experience of a lifetime… and we will be back as soon as possible! The boat is clean, well kept up, and the Captain and crew are top notch.

Took my wife and two daughters out Christmas Eve Had a great trip with captain Kevin and first mate Darrin they try very hard at getting you into fish. We were catching so many fish we got in a little late these guy like and want to catch fish I would highly recommend this boat and crew.

Although I only caught one fish, it was the beautiful blue marlin. It made the day! The boat is great, plenty of room for a family of six, either in the cabin or up top in the fly bridge. Captain Kevin had the experience and made it fun, but lee stole the show on making sure I was comfortable and bringing the big fish in. The only thing I didn’t like was the 100 pound rule, since I’m a fish guy, but I also understand about not wasting fish. I would think that since I chartered the boat, any fish caught would be mine. If I wanted to sell the fish, then it should be spilt with my share going towards the cost of the boat. Other than that Kevin is very friendly and will go for any fish you want to go for. I like that :-)
I would recommend this charter to anyone who just wants to catch fish!

We went for ¾ day. Fishing was slow, but we heard all the boats were slow. We caught one nice mahi mahi and the captain filleted enough for us for dinner and suggested Splashers to cook it up. We went directly there and the fish was fantastic. Getting back to the charter, Captain Kevin and first hand Lee were very friendly and easy to talk with. No big egos but offered little snippets of info as we trolled around. Boat was fantastic, very clean and everything you need (except the fish). Overall great.

Awesome day’s fishing. Capt Kevin & Lii did a fantastic job. Highlight was catching a 169lbs blue marlin. Definitely recommend these guys. Will be back very soon
