The Spa at Kona Beach Hotel

My friends and I decided to book a massage and facial on the last day of our Hawaii trip, it was the best decision ever!
Originally we wanted to book at Body Rhythms (their sister spa), however they wouldn’t have been able to accommodate all eight of us at the same time. So Adesh, kindly recommended us to the Spa at Kona Beach. We were able to get the spa pricing and discount deal transferred over.
I had the Swedish massage and facial package. Lilian, my masseuse was absolutely amazing and apply just the right amount of pressure. She worked out my upper back knots and my lower back which was sore from all the water activities. She also made sure to avoid my severely sunburned calves. Awesome 1hr of relaxation.
Maria was my esthetician for my facial and boy is she AMAZING. She has a gentle and soothing touch (as well as voice). I was super relaxed and I loved that she spent a lot of time exfoliating my face and décolletage. With the extra time she also gave an amazing shoulder, head, arm, and hand massage.
I highly recommend Lilian & Maria, thank you for an awesome experience. What a wonderful way to end a trip!

I had bought a prepaid session package for the Accupunturist at the spa and I was unable to make an appointment due to a last minute family emergency. I called Jennifer and left a message that although I could not make my appointment a friend of mine was going to take it instead and that she could use my prepaid session. My friend arrived and was told that my prepaid could not be transfered to her. So because of Jennifer’s 24 hour cancellation policy I lose one of mine and my friend had to pay for a session too. I think this is out right robbery. I will forfeit my last prepaid session because I will not deal with a person who intentionally rips someone off. VERY poor business practice!

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the deep tissue massage. My therapist was Jill, my boyfriend’s therapist was Dana. Both therapists were intuitive and were able to locate problem areas and really work out our knots! Oftentimes it has been my experience that hotel spa massages focus more on relaxation and pampering while lacking in therapeutic benefit, I was very pleasantly surprised by the therapeutic quality here. The prices are typical for a hotel spa. The facility is clean, nothing too fancy. For the price of the services though, I felt that the amenities were lacking. There were no locker rooms or lounges. I asked about the use of the steam and sauna, but didn’t actually use either. I was told that they needed 30 minute notice, or something like that, if I wanted to use the sauna and they said that it was only large enough for one person at a time.
All in all I was happy with my massage. Only downside, in my opinion, is the lack of spa amenities. I was expecting better amenities based on the rate of services.
I would likely return though if I were staying at this hotel again.

Yesterday I decided to try the Spa here at the hotel. April was my massage therapist. The massage was amazing! So much so, that it moved me to write my first Unilocal review.
I’ve been fortunate to receive many massages in my lifetime… ranging from the corner $ 20 foot massage joint to the most luxurious spas around the world. I can confidently say that April is gifted. After the race my husband and I are checking into the Four Seasons for some R&R. I’m now questioning why spend the money when we have April right downstairs!

What a terrific experience. This intimate space is located within the Courtyard King Kam Hotel in downtown Kailua Kona. We pre booked our appointments from home and were graciously welcomed and greeted upon arrival. Herbal tea and ice water in hand I headed in for a scrub/​Lomi Lomi massage combination. Gretchen and Katie were not only caring, but also graciously therapeutic. I left feeling spoiled and relaxed. JD had a terrific hot stone massage with a therapist who I cannot remember… Sorry! His experience mirrored mine. Therapeutic, warm, and all the stressful kinks erased. We would book again in a hot second.

I GOT ONE OF THE SPA PACKAGES CALLED THE HAWAIIAN STONES IT FELT SO GREAT I TOTALLY REGRET NOT COMING ANY SOONER WHEN I NEED A FUCKIN MASSAGE. I’ll tell you, it’s worth it. Everything was set up perfectly. Customer service was excellent they always make sure you’re comfortable and okay at ALL TIMES. The best thing about this was getting a facial, body scrubs and wraps. Came in with a relaxing music that put me to sleep instantly. Felt like heaven! Price is definitely worth it 350 since it’s a ‘once in a lifetime type of thing’ unless you’re rich as fuck. Stayed at the hotel before too and everything felt like a 5 star rating hotel. Well most importantly, my face and skin was smooth!

I’ve sincerely traveled all over the globe, and have experienced countless massages by numerous therapists. I can say with great confidence that April at the Spa at Kona Beach is on par with the best.
Not only is she extremely proficient with her level of skill, she is also very mindful with her approach.
She is simply a massage genius. I highly recommend her and will return again to experience what I consider to be an exceptional massage.

I chose this spa because of its location in the hotel i was staying at. I called and scheduled a 60 minute massage followed by a 30 minute facial. The woman on the phone was very helpful, and called back to confirm.
When i arrived, i wad greeted and my masseuse was ready early. Buzz was an amazing therapist. He helped get rid of my back pain and did a wonderful massage. The woman who was doing my facial was a little late so he gave me a 10 minute scalp massage while i was waiting. Janice was the technician who gave me my facial. I have never had one before, but this was very relaxing. It made my skin very soft.
Great place, i will be coming back when in back in Kona!

This place is terrible. Do not waste your money! I go to the spa at home every 6 weeks so I know what the heck Im talking about and this was no spa exp. The robes were awful and that should have been my first clue. Robes were too small, they had cheap material and the slippers are ripped, over-​washed and still dirty. I asked for specific hot stone and didn’t get that instead I got burned several times and not relaxed. massage was too rough. not sure what relaxation means to these people but we did not achieve that… and I could hear the people next to us talking frequently! Complete utter waste of money. Oh and they have dove products in their shower room… uhh did you run to down to the abc store to get that junk product? I pay $ 160 bucks for a quality massage and products that are not used on animals and don’t actually add toxins to my body. you’d think a spa would see that irony.

My boyfriend and I scheduled 2 hours each for a facial and a massage. I am a spa-​frequenter, and have had the spa experience many times. I have to say this was the worst. It wasn’t the facial and massages, which were fine, it was the facility. Let’s see, in order of experience; there is no bathroom in the spa. If you have to pee, you have to walk across the lobby in your robe, The robes were scratchy and didn’t fit, the slippers for your feet were all right feet???, the shower stall was small, and there was no shampoo or soap. The dispenser thathad what felt like lotions, broke off the wall, there was no place to wait for your service once you had your robe on, the massage therapist spent 10 minutes checking me out onher lap top, and couldn’t seem to figure it out. The total she quoted me was different than the receipt I was emailed, and it was way overpriced. If they are charging for the resort spa experience, they ought to deliver!

Denise Whitty was my massage therapist today for a Lomilomi massage, and it was the most wonderful massage experience I’ve ever had. Highly recommend the Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel — a wonderful stay in every respect — and book a massage with the wonderful Denise!
