We love Midori, A great local Mom & Pop Japanese and Sushi restaurant. New menu retains all the sushi and the best items. Every thing is hand made. The tempura a menu, an item I use as a canary, is always is hot and looks like it was cooked in new oil. This shows the quality of the preparation. Sushi is good and taste. The atmosphere is good and allows for conversion among the guest at your table. Restrooms are clean. The dinning room has a TV but only shows slide show of GNP and the menu items, with no sound.

We have two rules when it comes to eating sushi in the hinterlands — be one non-stop flight from the fresh fish source and make sure the owners are Japanese. This place meets both of those criteria. The fish is fresh and the sushi is really good. Our sushi tastes are pretty spare so we don’t usually order fancy rolls but we like the black widow roll. Not a big fan of imitation crab but there’s plenty to order that doesn’t contain it. The tempura isn’t greasy nor does it have too much breading on it so definitely try that. The miso soup was complimentary with our sushi lunch and was really good. We have been eating here since it opened 10 years ago and now it looks like the son is working here so the sushi menu has a lot of new exciting sushi rolls that the new generation likes but we mostly stick to the old school stuff. So you’ll have to try the new items and post your reviews.

I’m on the fence with this one. I wasn’t stunned by their sushi. It was basic and seemed to be small portions of fish. I got the trio: Dragon Roll, Crunchy Shrimp, and Black Widow. For $ 33 it serves two and comes with Miso broth and Edamame. Decent price I thought. Rice was perfect. Miso broth was lovely. I’ll order different rolls next time. And I’m excited to try their Spicy Ramen and Tempura. They have a lunch special Bento for $ 12. Owners run the place and are really sweet. There is no real sushi bar that you can sit at. I was saddened by this. Otherwise it has a really inviting ambience.

Too funny. Came in for Saturday night sushi and got turned away at the door. It was 7:50pm and they preferred closing early to serving six. Guess they must do so well they don’t need business. Won’t try that again.

I absolutely love Midori. Sushi is my favorite food, and I’m very picky about what I consider quality sushi. Midori is by far the super place to go among all the other spots in all the Flathead valley. Traditional styled rolls, simple, beautiful, and consistent every time!

I’m a regular. It really is the best sushi in the valley. Certainly the least pretentious. And, the friendliest. As soon as they get a beer menu it will be perfect!

The décor was nice and the restaurant had a decent atmosphere so I was hopeful when I stepped in. I had never been here before, but I have had many sushi experiences in the past in many different parts of the world. My first impression was positive, but that didn’t last terribly long. The service was rather lackluster and there was no ambient sounds or music which made the rather empty room seem even more empty. I was happy they included a picture menu to go along with the written one, and they seemed to have a nice variety of different items even if there was a definite lack of fish variety. I got some hot green tea which was nothing special, but they didn’t charge me anything for it(I think it was a mistake.) The miso soup we got was good, but the salad was clearly out of a bag and was browning. We got 3 rolls(california, dragon, and grilled salmon.) I was horribly unimpressed with all of them. They all lacked any real flavor which I attribute to unfresh ingredients. The rolls were also much smaller in diameter then I am used to getting so I was not happy with that either. I chose not to get any Nigiri or Sashimi because this is Montana and zero fish they get will actually be fresh enough for that to be good. I was ok with the bill though. It was half of what I have paid at other Sushi restaurants for a near equivalent meal. But you do get what you paid for, it was half as good as those other restaurants.

Fortunately the Flathead Valley isn’t limited on their sushi restaurants, but from Kalispell you do have to make a 20 – 30 minute drive for much better quality. The fish is definitely fishy. I’d normally expect that in Montana, but after being spoiled with fresh fish elsewhere, I couldn’t go back. I wouldn’t recommend trying this if you’re just trying sushi for your first time or if you’re a sushi snob like I am. If you want the best, go to SaketoMe Sushi in Bigfork. If you’re looking for the second best, Wasabi, in Whitefish. Staff and promptness were good though.

I have eaten here every time I have come to Kalispell; usually for lunch. The owners who run the restaurant are very nice. I did not think the food was overpriced. The tempura was done right. Not too much batter. Light and tasty. Teriyaki chicken moist. Sauce perfect. Sushi prepared my the husband good. Miso soup great. Salad with ginger dressing good. My expectation for a good Japanese restaurant in Montana was not high but I was pleasantly surprised with Midori. Those looking for a Japanese restaurant but hesitant to eat raw fish, not to worry, there are other great dishes on the menu. Restaurant — clean Ambiance — pleasant, quiet. Service — quick and polite. Food — worth trying Price — reasonable

We ordered a passion roll and teriyaki chicken. The roll was delicious the chicken was the worst thing I have ever eaten! When we informed our server we were told too bad the«boss» said you still have to buy it. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Bad service bad food.

Figured I give this place a try, place was empty pretty much around 1:30pm. Waitstaff was quick to great me and take drink order. Menu seemed a bit over priced. Even for Montana, I opted for a beef bento box. Miso was hot and brought out fast like my beverage. Seems like a family run place maybe? «Couple» running the place both looked to be preparing my food. Which seemed to have the place smelling pretty good, unfortunately they had to turn in the hood fan which was pretty loud. Not bothering me as a chef, I was pleased when the food arrived. It had a decent presentation. And was pretty good. Not the best I’ve ever had but it was worth the price paid.

We also have had sushi all of the country. We love Midori. Forget the salad, order the specialty rolls. Particularly the passion roll or the ultimate roll. You won’t be disappointed.
