I bought a keg for my friends and I yesterday and put down a large deposit. Only halfway through the keg, the already cheap and flawed tap stopped working on us. I went to Brookside Wine and Spirits to explain the problem, and they refused to provide me a better one or a refund for the tap. We were forced to waste half of the keg because of their flawed product. I am very disappointed in this business and will not be returning. I was hoping that I could support a small business like this, but because of the way I was treated, I will not give them my business again, and I advise other people to do the same.

I love the area I live in, but when a CVS represents the best liquor and beer selection for miles, that’s a problem. Fortunately, just a short jaunt down to the eastern edge of Brookside has a nice liquor store! I walked in looking for a good sixer and saw Milwaukee’s Best, Natty Ice and the like in the left case. About to bail, I then noticed the little beer cave sign towards the back… YES! They have a walk in fridge-cave full of all kinds of good beers. Boulevards, Lagunitas, Bell’s, and loads of newbies to try out. They were friendly and had a ton of options, so in an area without a lot of options, that’s the perfect combo for me.

Close, convenient, friendly, good selection. These guys have it done right. The appeal had taken an upwards trend since the store ws reopened under the monicker of Brookside wine and spirits. Previously, it was royal liquor, and a complete dive. Why do I like this place? What other place lets you being your dog in, no one! The owners cool, the workers are laid back and offer great tips of what’s in stock. As far as wine goes: they suggested the f– bomb(yes, that’s really it’s name) and it was a really good choice! They stock good beers, besides the standard stock and I’ve found a few rarities that I even had to fight a neighbor over(they didn’t deserve it). This place carries cigars, which I’m not fond of, but it at least ads some to the neighborhood. I still can’t get over the fact they let me shop with my dog. It’s really everything you wanted in a neighborhood store. I try not to review anything and everythg — and only want places that I would use or recommend using. I think this app is only viable if cool places make the cut. That’s my humble opinion… Here goes…

In my first visit I was on a quest for Boulevard’s recently released Saison Brett. I was discouraged to learn that they had sold out quickly. As I perused through the store the manager/owner(I presume) appeared with a bottle that he had stashed for personal consumption. He informed me that he was willing to part ways with this limited edition masterpiece under one condition… that I return in the future for my alcohol related needs. Safe to say I agreed to the terms, and left feeling like I had just done business with someone that actually cares about service. I wouldn’t have given that bottle to the Make-A-Wish Foundation!

Awesome neighborhood shop! It’s smaller than some other bottle shops, but their craft beer selection is great. I’m constantly impressed with what they choose to stock. Tip: cold Blvd Smokestacks are in the last cooler back in the corner. Walk your pup there and they’ll get a milkbone if they’re good. Tastings every Friday.

Great selection of craft beers, low prices, and a friendly staff.
