Passed this place many times and finally got a chance to try it out on a girls night out. The food was awesome! I fell in love with their private dining event space, keep them in mind for all your special event needs. The menu is full of a wide array of appetizers-this won me over. Their entrees were equally plentiful. Service was excellent and we had a party of 12 very impressive the waiter was off the charts. The bar is full to the brim of just about everything you can name. We did karoake that night it was the ending to beautiful First Fridays. I will be back!

My girlfriend and I dined here at lunch, we were eventually greeted by what I assumed to be the bartender, who showed us our seats. He asked what we wanted to drink and then took our order. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and she ordered the margherita pizza. After a 30 minute wait with no one stopping by to check on us at all. The pizza was rubbery with 2 handfuls of arugula thrown on top to make it appear fresh. My sandwich wasn’t anything special, but nothing necessarily wrong with it. We stopped our«server»(bartender) to tell him it was unsatisfactory to which he just said«so nothing is wrong with it?» And then begrudgingly took it away without apologizing or asking if we wanted to order anything else. Between all of this, he did not once smile or act like he even enjoyed being there. We only dealt with him. A manager did not come to apologize or anything(not really a problem, just strange) so if you dine here, clear your schedule and prepare to leave hungry. Avoid the bearded bartender, he has no emotions.

I had a pretty bad experience here one night. However, I gave them 4 stars because their customer service was off of the charts. After waiting for more than an hour for our drinks, I went to the bar to complain, and the manager immediately apologized and got me a drink. She also, took care of our food and we had great service the rest of the night. I also met here in Uncle Bills’ room for the start of my bachelorette party. They did a great job of taking care of us then also! The food is good too!

My first time at Bull Dog was with a friend for a cousins engagement party! The service was laid back, which I like. The girl singing and playing the guitar absolutely amazing! The Margarita Pizza also amazing. This was my first night out in a while and I had a great time. The place seemed busy and customers friendly!

Went to the Bulldog for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the interior. Light and airy, mission style furnishings, and modern art. I was excited to try the food. I ordered the salmon sandwich and since it was lunch, an ice tea. Was a little disappointed with the sandwich. Salmon was way overcooked. My friend got the clossal burger which seemed to be tasty(he finished every bit.) They are changing their menu and some items were not available. Will go back and try new menu, but will stay away from fish and seafood offerings.

My husband and I always loved this place. We met some friends for lunch to show them how great it is. It sucked. Our lunches were absolutely horrible. I ordered chicken fingers(easy right?) they were burned and the coleslaw was inedible. My husband ordered a French dip(always a favorite at the bulldog) and the meat was terrible. They used lunchmeat roast beef on the sandwich now. That is not the way it used to be. The ONLY redeeming thing was the french fries they were excellent. We spent $ 40(including tip) for the worst lunch I’ve had in a long time. I always liked you Bulldog, but your cook(s) suck now. We won’t be back.

We went on a Thursday afternoon. Loved the atmosphere, casual with great music. Bartender was helpful but not overly knowledgeable but gave us great service. Seasonal beers great. Whiskey, vodka and tequila selections are excellent. Small plates really good. Don’t miss the crab beignets! If we lived in the area it could totally become our favorite neighborhood hangout.

Good food, friendly service… And tonight they had karaōke, it was great! I had the carpaccio, it was interesting but good. My friends had the wings, amazing… And the min sliders, were good as well. Super good fries & fresh!

Beef carpaccio, twice-baked potatoes, calamari… all better than average. Add stiff drinks paired with March Madness, and it all adds up to a fine time. HD went on the fritz several times throughout the game, but service was decent. ‘Twas a pleasurable afternoon out.

Met a few friends for happy hour and wasn’t impressed. Yes, the happy house was 2 for 1 so I had two glasses of wine but it wasn’t great and I also ordered a teriyaki steak skewer(medium) and it came out WAY well done. Like, charred. I didn’t say anything because it was busy but it was definitely not good. Wine wasn’t good. Food wasn’t good. Service was fine though. That’s the only reason we’re at a two star.

Stopped in here on a First Friday to get a quick drink before we started wandering around and I would have to say that the staff was nice and the artist who had a showing in the back room was interesting to talk to about his work. The drinks were 2 for 1, but they probably weren’t the best drinks I’ve ever had, just a little weak. The place has a real neighborhood feel to it and certainly has enough space between the restaurant seating, the bar seating and the large bar area in the back. It’s a place worth trying if you’ve not checked it out yet. We personally did not order food, but based on the rest of the customers and how many were ordering dinner or appetizers, I would have to guess that the food was pretty good.

I have only been here for happy hour a couple times and I must say it is great for that! The drinks were 2−4−1 and the apps were buy one, get one 50% off. The food came out quick just as it disappeared with our group! The service was pretty laid back and gave us our space while still meeting everyone’s needs. We even met this super awesome lady in the bathroom after talking about duck dynasty. So you can even meet friends in the bathroom too! Everyone there seemed super fun and enjoying themselves. Will definitely go back for more 2−4 – 1’s!

I went for lunch on a Friday afternoon. First, my friend and I waited for several minutes to be noticed and seated — there was not a worker in sight. We almost left. Finally, we were seated. Despite there being only two other parties, we were seated surrounded by the other people. I would have preferred being spread out a bit. Our waitress took our orders and left. I ordered the veggie wrap(the only vegetarian sandwich on the menu) with fries, and my friend got the Bulldog Club. My wrap was basically a salad in a whole wheat tortilla, overflowing with bland hummus. It literally tasted like chick pea paste, not the Middle Eastern sauce I love so much. The menu description promised guacamole as well, but the wrap had only one tiny dollop of guac in one end of the wrap. In fact, all of the«premium» ingredients, like roasted almond slices, were in short supply and only in the very bottom of the wrap. The fries were also very bland. My friend normally loves sandwiches, and he barely choked down the club. He picked at it over the half hour and didn’t finish it. Our waitress never checked on us after we got our food. She brought the check when we were done eating, but that was it. No refills, no asking if we need anything. I don’t think I’ll go back.

While in the area, we decided to try Bulldog bar for dinner. It was pretty empty when we went on a late Thursday eve, but it started it fill up once karaōke started up. We were seated by a shifty-eyed host on the dining-side of the restaurant where we were the only ones seated. Kinda awkward they didn’t ask which side we preferred, especially since the whole time it felt like they were shoo-ing us out of the area since the bar side was obviously the place to be. Our orders were taken and the waitress gave her suggestions for appetizers but we decided on just getting entrées. K went with the rueben sandwich and I for the mini cheeseburger sliders. We both subbed our fries for the small red potatoes. The food was nothing special, though it did come out pretty quick. The rueben was better than the sliders, but to be honest, it didn’t take much for that to happen. The red potatoes were salty and may have been a tad overcooked, but decent nonetheless. The waitress was just so quick to grab our plates and give us our checks that it was just an overall uncomfortable and hurried experience. The waitress had our check ready, set it down THEN asked us if we wanted anything else. Well… don’t let us inconvenience you! *sigh* After we paid(overpriced, taking into consideration the lack of flavor and excitement in the food), we never got refills and were pretty much left stranded alone on our side of the restaurant, so we left shortly after. Service was bleh, food was bleh, experience was… you guessed it, bleh.

What makes The Bulldog for me is its happy hours. 2−4−1 drinks and $ 5 appetizers right after work and then again late night. Shots? Yep. Cocktails? Yep. Brews? Yep. It’s inexpensive and convenient, but I would be careful trying to race the clock. What’s new is an updated menu. There looked to be some old options such as the hamburger and the French Dip, but what stood out where some new appetizers. I tried the jalapeño poppers which were nice and hot plus filled with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. Another at the table loved the sweet potato waffle fries and the sweet dip. There’s a weekly trivia game and karaōke on the schedule plus they also have a nice First Friday arts celebration for those of you who like to plan ahead.

I’ve driven past the Bulldog many times(I was probably headed in the wrong direction somewhere thanks to not being about to keep north and south straight). I’ve been meaning to come in for some time, as the reviews indicate sick happy hour deals and decent bar food. What’s not to like, right? Finally, this past Saturday I made plans to meet here. I parked in the lot, noting that it must be awfully convenient to the folks who work at the Pitch to walk here right after work to participate in that happiest of hours… that’s all I noticed, really and because I have never worked in an office in Kansas City, I sometimes wonder what that experience is like… all of this was going through my head when I entered. What? You don’t wish to be privy to my thoughts? So, yeah, the HH is really kicka$$ and the bartenders are so awesome, that I knew this would be a 4-star review in the making. What’s more… the food is damn good, too, for bar food. Fried pickles are perfect here. They are cut into thin spears that are easy to eat and the batter is just right– crispy, slightly spiced. I also had a Margarita pizza(pizzas are $ 8 during HH), also quite good. They put on sliced tomatoes rather than sauce. This required a bit of salt and red pepper, obviously if you’re a spice/salt fiend like Yours, Truly. Crust is cracker style, not usually my favorite, but I do like it as it doesn’t fill you like crazy. Hell, it’s bar pizza and it’s good and that’s kind of all you need to know. If I had been drunk, I would have been calling this stuff manna. Now on to the crowd. At first it was kind of quiet. Fine, it’s a Saturday at like 8, odd, but I didn’t think much of it. By the time we were getting up to go, I needed to use the ladies room. I walked through a crowd of men, lots of men. I was perplexed. Why would these youngish straight guys who also seemed single all want to hang out with each other instead of being in a place with, uh chicks? It was like I had stumbled in on a bachelor party. Later when I was telling this story, the response was one of those eye-roll«DUHJOI» moments that I’ve had to endure from time to time. «You know why all those guys were in there, right?» «Uh, noooooooo…» «It’s right next to(some strip club)… you know… the one with the giant flashing letters? Right next door.» No, I only noticed the Pitch. And couldn’t stop thinking about the Pitch because of the aforementioned Kansas City office musings… I’ll be perfectly honest. I’m still wondering if that strip club really exists next door or if there is some giant joke being played on me. Sometimes being a reflective Pisces really sucks.

I am basing my review off their 2−4−1 Happy Hour special on Friday. We found a spot at the bar during our First Friday visit. The two bartenders who helped us were very friendly even though they were slammed. I am really looking forward to going back to try some food. The people around us had some good looking plates while we were there. Of course, I’m looking forward to visiting again to partake in the 2−4−1 drink special which is on both Thursdays and Fridays. So far the Bulldog is «a-ok». I will update when I go back to try the food!

I mean A-OK in a good way! I can only review the bulldog for their fantastic happy hour, I have not yet dined here. My friend and I dropped in to the Bulldog for a quick drink while waiting for our dining engagement down the street. It was a Saturday evening, and there weren’t too many patrons occupying this clean, modern establishment. My friend and I grabbed a few drinks and chatted briefly with the bartender who was really cool. After another round, I handed her my credit card to pay, without requesting our tab. When she returned my credit card with the receipt slip, I said, «oh no, I meant to pay for the both of us», to which she responded«you did!». Excellent! Apparently they have buy one-get one specials throughout the week, and yes, even on Saturday! This was a great surprise, and a pleasant way to start my evening.
