Phone number is disconnected. Ate there and when they ran my card, they ran it as debit. Transaction was declined. I never gave them my PIN. Bank confirmed they ran as debit, not credit and declined due to incorrect PIN being entered. Lady came up and was rude. Told her I didn’t know why it would decline as I had just used it. I have 2 checking accounts, so I gave her another debit card. This one ran ok. She then stood by me and said she could NOT leave my table until I signed the merchant receipt. Said she was responsible for the paperwork. Normally they leave them there so we can add a tip. I felt like a criminal. When I found out that my card declined due to their fault, I called the number on their receipt. The number is disconnected! Save the frustration and embarrassment and eat elsewhere!!!

One of my favorite places in this neighborhood. Portion sizes are huge, prices are low, everything is fresh, and I’ve never ordered anything I didn’t like.

This place is awesome. I eat there at least twice a week. I like to get there torta and Torta Cubana. The price is very reasonable and my favorite serve, Anny, have always a big smile in her face. Best restaurant in KCK!!!

WOW! Delicious food and easy on your wallet. Service was extremely SLOW today but it was to be expected since the place was just jammed packed. We were pleased with the service and the food! We ordered several of their tacos(shrimp, asada, carnitas), chicken torta, asada torta and an asada quesadilla with 4 waters. Everything was only $ 20 and we had to box some of the food to take home. Well-worth the wait!

Although food is good and easy on your wallet, today we had a BAD experience. Service is always slow but that’s to be expected since are extremely busy. Waitresses are not able to keep up and today you could really see it, as they wiped the tables, everything was going on the floor. I watched one of the waitresses refilling salsa bar, she dropped containers on the floor and instead of throwing in the trash, she put them back in the cabinet to be reused. Also parking in back is disgusting, trash piled up and flies everywhere. Our waitress never came to ask if we needed anything and worst of all the food made us sick. I called to ask if anyone had called to report that they got sick and person I spoke with was rude. Needless to say, WEWILLNOTBERETURNING!!!

I really enjoyed this first stop on our Kansas City Kansas taco crawl. We arrived for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon in the midst of a rather large crowd. There were really no tables to be had so we ordered our Tacos, waited and sat outside. We found a little bench, so no worries. I had the taco pastor and it was delicious. It had the right amount of cilantro and onions and the flavor of the pork was spot on. I took the opportunity to browse the grocery section and was quite impressed with the selection. I will definitely be back.

The first stop on the KCK taco crawl. I would probably rate the tacos at a 5, but the difficult parking, lack of space for dining, and confusing set up makes the experience a little less than stellar. This is a store also and they are quite busy. It may be a better stop during the week to avoid all of the congestion. I thought I was ordering a cecina, cured ham, taco, but ended up with beef. It may have been my ordering so no faulting there. The beef was absolutely incredible! tremendous flavor. My favorite here though was the bite of another crawlers chicken taco. If coming here again for tacos, I would put the chicken at the top of my list. We also noticed a lot of yummy looking dishes on the menu and coming out for orders. I can’t wait to go back and try more! They also have a really good horchata. While many places have super sweet horchata, this one wasn’t overly sweet. Service was a little lacking. With as busy as they were and the not so optimal setup, it is probably a pretty stressful day there.

Holy guacamole! It was tasty and so were other dish ordered at our table. The horchata was great! Take a friend, stop in for lunch, grab dinner, whatever you want but definitely make this a stop on your restaurant tour.

I went in here once to look for tamales. They didn’t have any. The place was packed. Service was ok. Not very friendly. Could be because they were so busy. I will give it a second try on another day.

Liked the enchiladas w/green sauce lunch at the little linoleum/plastic cups/people-waiting-for-your-table place, but the grocery store next Door should not be missed. Just heated up the pork tamales I bought at the grocery store’s meat counter yesterday. WOW. You must try. Husby said his favorites ever and he is Mr. Tamale. The restaurant’s guacamole is excellent and chips are thick and mixed colors. Very authentic Mexican food, try the Different salsas on the restaurant’s bar — this place is a FIND!!!

This is a combined takeout/fairly small dining room operation attached to a grocery store with a very interesting meat market. I had four different soft tacos(double wrapped tortillas). The asada and barbacoa were fine but the carnitas and chorizo were really tasty. The chorizo was nice and spicy while not being too greasy. Oh, these were 99 cents each on a Friday night. I ended up buying dinner for two for ten bucks before tip. Try that anywhere…
But the real highlight for me came at the salsa bar. A variety of fresh salsas, red and green, await. All are nicely spiced and distinctive. The service was pretty shaky, but overall this was a great place for a quick bite. Given the size of the dining room, this is not the place for long conversations with friends as impatient would-be diners watch from the doorway.

This is a test. You want to eat at one of these restaurants: 1) A nice looking Mexican restaurant in a nice part of town, open on a Sunday at noon, no cars in front but still looks inviting! 2) The neighborhood reliable Taco Bell in an area of town that’s a little dicey but the building looks clean and well kept. 3) A Mexican grocery store in a colorful Hispanic neighborhood with carniceria attached, people spilling out onto the streets waiting to get in line, the grocery store packed like a suburban mall on Christmas Eve. You go inside and ask if they take credit cards so you can pay for your meal and the staff has to go get someone that can speak English with you. Don’t be riding along to eat with me if you picked #1 or #2. Carniceria El Torito 2, I adored today’s Sunday 99 cent tacos: barbacoa, lengua, carnitas and pastor topped off with a Grapefruit Jarritos to drink. Superbly cooked and seasoned succulent, tasty meats, tender soft taco shells double wrapped as they should be, filled to the brim with fresh cut white onions and cilantro, a side bar packed with four kinds of sauce and fresh limes. Heaven. I could and should have stopped there. But no. Opted for what I thought was roasted field corn, Elote Tatemado, and instead got a paper cup filled with canned corn mixed with a white queso, a hint of mayonnaise, lemon and hot spices, spoon inserted into it all. Not bad, but not the best thing I’ve tasted, and way more food than I needed both in quantity and price($ 2.99). Guessing maybe the language barrier got in the way and I received something I wasn’t thinking. No problem. Barely broken $ 9 for the entire meal. That’d be less than $ 6 for four huge tacos and the Jarritos. Hint: when you see a placed packed and people waiting to get in the door you know it’s good. Honestly, I think three of their tacos would have filled me and I like my chow. Worth a revisit. Interesting menu. If you go: Central Avenue in colorful KCK is not for everyone. Yep, you’ll find no Johnson County cars parked here and I was the only 6’3″ white boy in the place so stuck out like a big sore thumb but had nice conversations with a few fellow diners and plenty of smiles from the staff. Friendly place and the food is going on here in a big way. Highly recommended for those of you seeking a cool dining experience in a colorful part of town.

I first came here with my Mexican neighbor. The carnecería is where it’s at. I always get the carne asada y pechuga de pollo, preparada.(Marinated steak and chicken breast). Take it home and grill it up and it is the most fantastic Mexican meal you can make. The guac sauce is the beat of their sauces I get it every time. I prefer to practice my español while ordering at the meat counter but if you can’t speak Spanish, no problem just don’t be afraid. It’s very worth it. The taqueria is great too. Dollar tacos every day and those suckers are huge.

I ADORE this place! First time I went was a weekday for lunch around noon. You sit down and a waitress brings you a menu and chips and salsa. The chips are thick and the salsa is a mild, normal salsa, but tasty. There is also a salsa bar where you can dip up your salsa of choice. Includes an avocado salsa, a chipotle salsa, escabeche(pickled onions, radishes, and carrots), lime wedges, and another salsa or two that I’m not sure what it was. I ordered the carnitas tacos. They come with double tortillas. Meat was flavorful, maybe a bit on the salty side(but I am sensitive to salt). You can get them«con todo»(with everything), which means cilantro and chopped white onions. Yum. :) The second time I went was a Saturday around 3 p.m. I had the torta de pollo(grilled chicken sandwich on fresh grilled bread with refried beans, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and avocado). It came with a roasted jalapeño on the side. The torta was HUGE. Just a *half* of it was bigger than my outstretched hand. It was pretty good, but not the best torta I’ve ever had. Usually tortas come on bolillo rolls. I would say to share this between two people for an economical meal at only $ 3.99. My friend had the menudo, which he didn’t like too much(and he likes menudo normally). The tripe had a funky taste to it(I mean I guess tripe usually does, but it tasted like it might have been spoiled. However, neither of us got sick afterwards, so I guess it was okay). The broth had way too much oregano for my liking, but there are many ways to make menudo. There was a singer with a guitar there making his rounds. It was very loud and I could barely hear my friend, but it was a lively environment. Might be better to avoid this day/time if you don’t like loud. The waitress didn’t bring the check to the table either time I was here, so I don’t know if you always have to ask for it up front. EXCELLENT prices. I highly recommend trying it out. :)

This is an expansion of the Carniceria El Torito 2 next door. Actually it is all the same building with doorways to the separate stores. I read upon seeing the restaurant finally opened, that the special was pozole for that Labor day only. I had to try it. A little spicy for my taste. Also, I was disappointed that they did not offer the usual extras that come it(cabbage, cilantro, lime). However, as I am usually here to get the great mexican groceries next door, I am sure I will be back over to try something else. Hopefully, they will get more time to get things straightened out.
