Dr. Thompson is a decent doctor, however, the office is managed poorly. I was sick for nearly two weeks and believed I had much more than a regular flu. When I called in to make an appointment, I asked if the doctor would be willing to prescribe antibiotics once he examined me. The staff had read a «script» that the doctor instructed them to articulate to sick patients that they should not expect to be prescribed antibiotics since he determined that a non-bacterial infection was going around. It’s as if there was an automatic rush to judgment that I did not need antibiotics before I came into the office. I was told to «ride it out» and decided not to schedule an appointment since it would be a lost cause. A few days later, I was getting much worse and went to the Care Spot Urgent Care on 95th& Antioch where I was diagnosed with Bronchitis and prescribed antibiotics. The doctor at Care Spot was genuine and cared more about me than my own doctor. I would strongly recommend avoiding Midtown Family Medicine– the quality of care is weak and the staff is unwilling to consider any type of feedback to improve on how they operate. I’ve experienced the same unaccommodating actions from his nurse practitioner Marcy, who is also reluctant to prescribe antibiotics after you are sick for an extended period of time. My experience has been that the standard practice at Midtown Family Medicine is to doubt what you are telling them and stall on getting you care.

This doctor’s office is a wreck. A coworker recommended that my boyfriend go here since it was close to the house and my doctor is a 25 minute drive away. Biggest mistake we could have made. They are housed in a crummy little office off Broadway and their staff isn’t very personable. He went for an initial physical/check-up as a new patient and also explained that he had been having a lot of stomach pain, especially in the mornings, and was wanting to figure out why. Instead of trying to get to the bottom of this, they just brushed it off and told him to make sure his diet is nutritious. He works out 3 – 5 times a week and eats a very healthy diet, so this was not very constructive advice. About 8 months down the line, he was at work at was struck by a large metal pole on a semi. It hit him with about 150 pounds of pressure to his jaw, enough force that it broke several of his teeth. When he came to Dr. Thompson again, he wasn’t available and saw«Ashley», the nurse practitioner. She prescribed him Tylenol 2, which on any website says it is prescribed for MILD pain, cough and arthritis. He was treated like a child and was told that anything sufficient to help treat his pain«made the doctor uncomfortable» as if to imply that my boyfriend would abuse or misuse the medication. After having his face smashed in with a huge piece of steel, I would expect a little more concern out of a doctor. Then they billed the appointment incorrectly to insurance and instead of wanting to work with us, they chose to argue. Needles to say, he is now switching to my doctor in Kansas. Don’t waste your time, money or personal health with this office!
